DC456 Fall 411 - Zoterik   (Oct 29, 2013, 3:07 am)
The solo? Not yet...

The Vandali gain two centres (Brundisium, Ravenna) but lose two (Saguntum, Vindobona) after the Alamanni get lucky. Therefore the Vandali remain on fourteen but are vulnerable in northern Gaul as the Saxones gain strength. We play on and now look to a future which, if the game does not end in a draw, could easily go another ten years. And I have to say that I am not opposed to the thought.  This has already been one of the best games of Diplomacy I've ever seen.  But the Franci fall into Civil Disorder with their second consecutive NMR in a major turn.  Peter, if you are still with us, come back!

One Vandali unit is dislodged.  There is only one valid retreat, but I'll do retreats and adjustments together this turn, as our Winter is surprisingly quiet and there is not much business to be concluded.

Autumn/Winter 411 retreats/adjustments due 01 November at 08:00 GMT.  Enjoy your Halloween!

Alamanni F Brundisium has no valid retreats, disbanded.
Vandali F Saguntum can retreat to Narbonensis or OTB.

The winners of 1902 is Germany, while Russia is most certainly the loser.  With a massive effort, England takes Norway but loses Belgium to Germany.  France and Italy spar in Piedmont but a convoyed army in North Africa puts strain on Tunis while Turkey easily retains Greece and Austria takes over Rumania.  Before our winter turn, we do have some retreats which must be done, and I'd like to have those by 27 October at 08:00 GMT.  And this time, I'll make sure to adjudicate on time.  Get your orders before the deadline, or NMR.

You may also start to send me adjustments in anticipation of Winter.  Adjustments can be found below the orders.

Dear all
Firstly many apologies for the lack of communication. A damp camping holiday followed by a flood of work has kept me out of the loop and I shall endeavour
to start reacquainting myself with you all. No doubt my silence has been interpreted as a prelude to a stab: not true! I want peace with everyone

Please forgive me, and hope to be in touch soon

DC456 Imperium - Spring 411 - Zoterik   (Oct 23, 2013, 5:36 am)
The moment of truth is nearly upon us, gentlemen, but I strongly suspect this game might not end this year!  The Vandali grab Ravenna and parry a Saxon attack, but are under threat in Iberia and from the Ligurian Sea.  If Saguntum is lost, the Vandali will need to take two centers, and thus the eyes of Europe rest on Brundisium, although the Vandali are also at risk in Massilia, Genova, and Roma.  All the attention and effort expended to stop the Vandali solo has possibly allowed a respite for the Franci, who might otherwise be looking at elimination--although that threat has not yet passed.

Fall 411 orders are due 28 October at 08:00 GMT.  I'm on the edge of my seat...!

DC455 Aberration - Fall 1910 - Zoterik   (Oct 22, 2013, 11:38 pm)
Well now, what do we have here?  Burgundy reclaims one home centre, the first nation to restore its ability to build, at the same time that Poland conducts naval exercises in the North Sea.  Is the game becoming Poland vs. The Rest?  With twenty-one centres, Poland is now six shy of the solo, and has five builds this year to bolster those efforts if chosen.  In the Balkans, Poland has surrounded the Sicilian holdouts in Szeged, and may also be able to claim Croatia and Venezia while the position in Anatolia is fortified.  It may be a very interesting turn to come!

body {word-wrap: break-word; background-color:#ffffff;}Hey guys,

In my opinion this is going to turn into an Italian solo attempt rather than an I/T. I've done this before as Italy - check out DC 388. I was able to end the game quickly, as no one trusted each other enough to ally against me.

Alfred's already got a strong position against Turkey, so I don't see him not attacking East when he can. All he needs us to do is stay out if his way until the end-game.

Re: DC 463, Fall 1902

Gentlemen
Take note of the powerful position that Turkey and Italy are generating in this game. Before too long we will have to put aside our petty squabbles and collaborate to stop them running away with the game. Italy has been yanking everyone chains right from the start of the game and is accelerating towards a possible solo. I know it is only 1902, but I have never seen a game where Italy hits 7 in 2 years without going on to win the game.
We must do all that we can to stop a T-I alliance running away with this. Use all your skills to disrupt them. Russia- you have to turn south or they will blow you away. Germany- whatever Italy may be saying, YOU have to be his next target.

Simon

Sorry guys, I went on a work field trip and didn't bring my own computer.  This certainly shouldn't happen again.

Austria takes it on the chin this year, to the benefit of Italy and Turkey.  Jason you had one retreat from Greece, and the only option was Albania.  Since you are disbanding anyhow, I just did it for you.

Winter adjustments are next, from Italy, Turkey and Austria.  Let's make it for Wednesday evening, 18:00 Mountain time.

Maps are attached.  Adjustments and Status are at the bottom of the adjudication.

Cheers, apologies again for the lateness,

Warren

Now we will see if the Vandali have put themselves in a position to triumph!  The fate of Europe rests on a knife-edge; will the Vandali take their fifteenth, or will the opposition hold off (or even repel!) the advance?  Our game could easily go another ten years or end in ten days.  Good luck!

1740: War of the Austrian Succession - VaeVictus   (Oct 16, 2013, 9:42 pm)
This is a variant I have been formulating myself and with the help of other developers. The game is set just after the first year of the First Silesian War that saw Prussia conquering Silesia and igniting the War of the Austrian Succession. The game begins in Spring 1741.

The Major Powers:
Austria
Britain
France
Ottoman Empire
Prussia
Russia
Spain

There are 41 SC's, 23 controlled by the major powers, 18 neutral, and 21 needed to win.

Special Rules:
-Gibraltar is passable and considered a coastal space, movement by both fleets and armies is possible. Gibraltar is not an SC, but contains a British fleet to begin with supplied from Liverpool. Gibraltar divides the coastline of Andalusia, but does not break up the coast of Morocco. Gibraltar is considered a sea space for convoys.

-There is a land bridge between Ire and Edi that allows armies to pass.

-A French army begins in Lor supplied from Paris. This is to simulate the importance Versailles placed upon the Rhineland.

-Crimea becomes a Russian home center if captured and held to the fall build by a Russian player. After which time Russian units may be placed in the Crimea as if it were a Russian center from the start of the game.

Initial Setup
Great Britain: F Gibraltar, F London, F Edinburgh, A Hanover
France: A Paris, A Marseilles, A La Rochelle
Spain: F Madrid, A Naples, F Valencia
Austria: A Vienna, A Budapest, A Brussels, A Agram
Prussia: A Berlin, A Breslau, A Konigsberg
Russia: F St. Petersburg, A Moscow, A Kiev
Ottoman Empire: F Cairo, A Constantinople, A Angora
