DC 158 - Return of the Yedi Trolls - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)

I will reconnect to my vaillant allies and fellow foes in the upcoming weekend.

Promptly to the game returning, less one empire adjourning
Taking from this loss a learning how to use the fog of war
Nothing further shall be muttered, not a feather will be fluttered
by their parrots - fried and buttered feeding those who played hardcore
Now the beaten pirates leave us as they ponder days of yore
Ladys, mateys... Nevermore

All are out!
Thursday for RETREATS and BUILDS (yes, both)
Next Wednesday for Spring 04.

And welcome back our Troll Chief Rolf!

Enjoy!

Subject: dc171 - Spring 1904 Retreats

GAME NOTES:
I am going to try to adjudicate within an hour of the deadline tomorrow. I probably won't be free for the rest of the night.
Also, next week, I will be gone on Friday afternoon, so I will be adjudicating early next Friday if there are any retreats and adjustments.

Lastly, please use this email address for all orders and the like. I tried to keep my personal and diplomacy emails separate, however, I've been having problems with spam. I'll still be checking the other address, however I can't guarantee the Spam guard won't trap your orders. Thanks.

DC140 autumn and winter 1906 results! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The French President seems to be attending to other matters, and fails to submit orders for his retreat or rebuild. Both England and Italy take their available valid retreats, rather than retreating OTB. England and Turkey add fleets, while Russia builds another army.

Spring 1907 orders will be due next Tuesday 4/22 at 3pm Central (US). Thanks!

dc157 Fall 1903 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The Fall of 1903 brings sudden changes!

Turkey takes a beating at the hands of three powers. The Sultan retreats to ponder his remaining days.
Russia orders support to Germany (see note below), but somehow misses the mark.
Italy lands forces on Asia minor, as French forces encroach from the west.
Germany beats a hasty retreat from France, but wins back Denmark.
The French military reawakens and chases Germany from his lands, and rattles his sabers toward his Italian neighbors.
England disbands a German fleet, but loses Denmark.
Austria single-handedly cuts the Turks by 1/2.

The Russian order, "F Skagerrak - Supports German A to Denmark
" was unclear. Which A (army) were you looking to support? After looking at what results might change I decided to go ahead and just put Holland to do the adjudication. If you meant the Fleet that was moving then no worries since it succeeded anyway.

There are no retreats this Fall and so builds will be due on Friday 18 APRIL 2008 by 6pm EST. Always remember to send prelims as soon as you can. That way if the deadline comes up you will not hold anyone else up if you happen to get tied up.

Austria: 2 builds

dc163 Spring 1903 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Interesting.... I was looking back and forth at Winter 1902 and Spring 1903 and well I lost track of which one I was looking at. Ok... not really.... but the southeast sure didn't change much for all the orders down there! On the other hand, England does a double convoy with French support and hits Germany again! Germany is foiled in all her moves and even pushed back from Kiel.

The only retreat had only one move so I included it in the adjudication. As always, Nancy, if you wish to disband the retreating unit instead just let me know ASAP.

I haven't heard any comments for or against a slightly quicker pace of play, except the one who asked for it. I think we will try it. If any do find that they are having trouble let me know as soon as possible.

DC172 Midsummer Nights Stab - Fall 1601 - Venus An... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The path is smooth that leadeth on to danger ...

On such a smooth path lie England and Poland. Only by a daring Bavarian strike on Lorraine do the Spaniard avoid losing the entire lowlands - Flanders is saved but the Netherlands is not so lucky. Meanwhile, through sacrificing Bessarabia the Poles manage to hold on to Cracow. They are decimated in the north, however, through a combined Swedish / Russian action.

As a friend once said - Lots of Action... Lots of Action.. =)

One retreat is required from Poland out of White Russia. Deadline for the Early Winter 1601 retreat will be set for Friday, Apr 18th (11:59 PM GMT). Please just let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers!

DC172 - Oops Of The Habsburg Variety - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hmm. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop licking Toad...

Sorry folks, even though I swear that I entered the moves correctly, it looks as though I failed to enter the Habsburg move from West Hungary to Serbia. The result is that the Ottomans get dislodged in Serbia and need to retreat to either Illyria or Bulgaria.

The corrected map and .dpy file are attached. Both the Polish and the Ottoman retreat are due on Friday, Apr 18th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

Guns, Germs and steel 1264 / DC110 - Winter 1871 -... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
- UNITED STATES DISCOVERS ATLANTIC COAST BIG TIME
- MECHANT SHIPS OF THE IVORY COAST BECOME NEW FRENCH FLEETS - SAILORS COMPLAIN OF SMELL OF COCOA BEANS
- HOLLAND SAYS 'ARMIES? WE CAN BUILD ARMIES? WOOT WOOT!!'

Okay, the headlines are decidedly lame this turn but in my defense I am decidedly bagged... France builds a mix of armies and fleets, as does the US - with both countries waiving builds. Holland builds all armies, and China recruits a force in Delhi. Meanwhile, Britain disbands in the North-west and Austria in the Eastern theatre of operations.

Thanks to everyone for getting their builds in on time. Let me know if you spot an error, please. Deadline for Spring 1872 orders will be set for Wednesday, Apr 23rd (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

DC178 - Search For Sponge-Bob - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
All right, ye long-sufferin land-lubbers. We be about to take to the ships, so down that there grog and follow me...

I've received confirmations from three of you, which is good enough for me to get the game rolling. Hopefully the fourth will be in touch but please be warned that we may need to pause and collect a new crewmate...

Turn deadlines I'm planning to be roughly 48 hours, give or take a few. I know at least one of you has limited weekend access, so anticipate few turns to be due on Saturdays or Sundays.

Attached are my house rules - all but one of you should be relatively familiar with them already though. Do me a favour anyways and read through them - spot-check me for spelling errors if nothing else. =)

That's about the short and skinny. Late orders will result in immediate keel-hauling. Country assignments will be handed out immediately - Spring 1901 orders will be due Friday, Apr 18th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

That way if the deadline comes up you will not hold anyone else up if you happen to get tied up.

but the southeast sure didn't change much for all
the orders down there! On the other hand, England
does a double convoy with French support and hits
Germany again! Germany is foiled in all her moves
and even pushed back from Kiel.

The only retreat had only one move so I included it
in the adjudication. As always, Nancy, if you wish
to disband the retreating unit instead just let me

I haven't heard any comments for or against a

asked for it. I think we will try it. If any do

DC177 confirmations - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
It has come to my attention that I failed to include my confirmation
policy in the game start email, so here it is: I do not usually send
confirmations for every single set of orders that comes in. Rather,
when I send a deadline reminder email around 24 hours before a deadline
I will write from whom I have and have not received orders. If,
however, you note that you would like immediate confirmation of your
orders then I will reply confirming them. Let me know if anyone has a
serious problem with this policy and we'll try to work something out.

Matt

PS Don't forget to mark your orders as final if you're sure of them so
that the game doesn't stall if everyone's ready!

1. Continue playing
- 1 vote

2. End by calling a draw between all remaining players

3. End and award a tied victory to Russia and Austria, with England and France given credit for a survival.
- 3 votes

So as result of the voting we will be continuing DC124 for the time being.

That being said, I have only two sets of orders for Spring 08. I will allow another 24 hours. Please have orders in by tomorrow at 9pm.

DC170 fall 1904 results! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Unfortunately, your humble GM received the silent treatment from some of our leaders this turn, as I could not find orders for Austria, Italy, or Russia.

Most of the action this turn consists of powers trading various centers among one another. Germany sails into Edinburgh, but supports England into Brest, and also allows France to slip into Belgium. Despite Austria's NMR, the Archduke is the big winner this turn, gaining control of both Munich and Tunis. Turkey finishes off the Tsar, while France overthrows the Italian kingdom.

There is one autumn 1904 retreat: the French fleet in Brest may retreat to MAO or OTB.

Winter 1904 adjustments -- excluding the eliminated powers -- will be as follows:

Austria build 3
France build 1 (or build 2 if retreat OTB)
Turkey build 1

Both the autumn 1904 retreat and winter 1904 adjustments are due tomorrow, Friday 4/18 at 3pm Pacific. Thanks!

Cory
