Dear Players,

A mistake on my part again! (Thanks to the player who pointed it out)
Italy ordered the convoy to Syria - not smyrna. The adjusted maps are attached.

That deadline again:

There are no retreats and so our next set of Orders - Fall 1904 - are due to me by 3pm GMT Wednesday 2nd January

Kind regards

DC121 Deadline Change - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Our admin Steve so kindly pointed out that I'm an idiot and that Dec.
23rd is a Sunday, making Tuesday Christmas day. In my eagerness to
progress I failed to read the calender. So the deadline (Spring 1909)
returns to next Friday, December 28, at 9 pm eastern. However remember
that if I get orders marked "Final" from all four of you (I already have
one!) I will adjudicate early.

Hi guys,

Apologies for the slight delay. Still haven't heard from Jim for Fall 1903 with regards to Italian orders. We'll lock all other orders in place and launch the Italian grace period. 24 hours counting time already elapsed means that the grace expires this evening at 11:59 PM GMT.

Thanks all,

Hi Arny,
You've joined a LIVE game. There is discussion on that game in particular in the message boards... that's a one-day event, where a game is played in real time (about 15-20 min per turn) via instant-messenger.

If you are instead looking for a regular Diplomacy game, I'd suggest you join the re001. They fill about every 7 to 10 days. That is the more traditional style game that makes up 99% of the games here.

DC140 -- The Never Ending Story -- fall 1901 resul... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
In fall 1901 of our "Never Ending Story", Austria and Germany prove to be the big winners. Austria guesses correctly that his unsupported move to Gre would succeed and that he could force his way into Rum. Germany bounces Russia from Swe and walks unopposed into both Hol and Bel, while England commits all his forces to gaining Nwy. France moves to protect Mar from an Italian attack that does not materialize, while Italy convoys to Tun. Russia draws the short straw and misses out on the winter 1901 builds. No retreats are due, so we move directly to the winter adjustment phase.

Everyone except Russia picks up at least one build during winter 1901. Because of the holiday, I'll give everyone a little extra time to send their build orders, and set the winter 1901 deadline for next Thursday 12/27 at 3pm Central (US).

Winter 1901 adjustments:

Austria build 3
England build 1
France build 2
Germany build 3
Italy build 1
Turkey build 1

Fall 1901 results:

Austria:
F Albania - Greece
A Budapest - Rumania
A Serbia Supports A Budapest - Rumania

England:
A Edinburgh - Norway
F North Sea Convoys A Edinburgh - Norway
F Norwegian Sea Supports A Edinburgh - Norway

France:
A Gascony - Marseilles
F Mid-Atlantic Ocean - Spain(sc)
A Spain - Portugal

Germany:

Note builds MAY be made conditional upon any retreats you may see, but otherwise builds are due Monday! That’s 4 days from today, tho I’ll run any turns early once all are in. Once builds are out, next deadlines will likely be:

dc118… Next Friday 12/28
dc122… January 3

DC116 Vogon's Revenge - Fall 1908 - Songs That We... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
A Berlin army the Sultan did lack
No means with which to attack
Yet there was nothing to grieve
For the Tsar - he did leave
And in Serbian fields the Turk did strike back.

--------------------------------------------------

Yes - payment in full is exacted in Serbia for the Spring slaughter of Berlin. Yet bewilderingly enough, Russia leaves Berlin in Turkish control for the winter turn. Meanwhile, England and Italy volley back and forth in the struggle for the Mid Atlantic. Wheels within wheels indeed. =P

No retreats are required for the Fall turn, although the armies in Serbia and Paris do meet grim ends. With that, we bid farewell to Dem. Thanks for playing it right to the bitter end, bro. I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say it would be good to see you again on another board.

Winter 1908 adjustments will be due on Saturday, December 22nd (11:59 PM GMT). After that, we'll break over Christmas Turkey and return for Spring 1909 orders on Saturday, Dec 29th (11:59 PM GMT). Please just let me know if either that schedule doesn't work for you, or if you spot any errors in the adjudication.

Cheers!

DC116 Vogon's Revenge - Fall 1908 - Songs That We... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
At a special press conference in light of the recent events in Berlin, Turk leaders effect prominent displays of confusion, quizzical bewilderment, and dumbfoundedness. Asked for a statement on the matter, the official Turk position is: “Huh?”

DC129 In Rainbows - Fall 1903 - House Of Cards - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Fall of the table
And get swept under
Denial, denial

The infrastructure will collapse
From carpet spikes
Throw your keys in the bowl...

--------------------------------------------------------------

We're back on track and thanks everyone for the patience. Things stay pretty static in the south with the exception of the Constantinople hotseat. In the north, more movement can be seen as Russia walks back into Sweden after England vacates in favour of Denmark. With those notable movements however, we can safely say that the word of the day is 'BOUNCE'...

Two retreats to take care of, one of which I already have prelims in hand for. The Russian army in Constantinople can retreat to Ankara or OTB, and the German fleet in Denmark can relocate to Helgoland Bight, Baltic Sea or OTB. I've set the deadline for Early Winter 1903 retreats at Saturday, December 22nd (11:59 PM GMT). After that, we'll all break for a few days to gobble down some Turkey and enjoy our visit from the jolly old elf. Winter 1903 will be scheduled for a weeks time: Thursday, December 27th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers everyone. Please just let me know if you spot any errors or mistakes.

DC129 In Rainbows - Winter 1903 Adjustment Count C... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi guys,

Thanks to those players who caught me on this. Control of Constantinople remains in Turkish hands, so he does not gain a build for recovering it. Nor does Russia have to disband as a result.

In addition, Russia can choose to retreat to the Black Sea if he so chooses.

Good grief. Think that's everything. Good thing I only hit the hard stuff when I'm doing these adjudications and keep myself away from the beer. =)

Sorry for any confusion folks,

Trout

Dc136 Avenging Disco Godfathers - Fall 1902 - I Wi... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
... But I spent so many nights
Thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on...

---------------------------------------

Sweating out to those funky tunes, Austria finds himself in a Disco Inferno. Meanwhile, things in the Scandinavias get messy and France says "All your Mediterranean is belong to me!"

Three retreats to deal with before moving onto Winter 02 adjustments - two Austrian and one German. Austria needs to find a new home for the army in Tyrolia and the fleet in Trieste, while Germany is getting an urgent request from the Swedish admiral for orders. Deadline for the Early Winter 1902 retreats will be set for Saturday, December 22nd (11:59 PM GMT).

Following which, we will break for some sort of holiday or other. Winter 02 adjustments deadline will be scheduled for a weeks time - Thursday, December 27th (11:59 PM GMT).

Please let me know if you spot any errors, or if the above schedule won't work for you. Cheers!

Dc136 - Winter 02 Adjustment Count Correction - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

Should have gone to bed early tonight, I guess. Slight correction to the Winter build count as the Turkish order to Greece never actually materialized. This means Italy keeps control of the Parthenon and gains a build - while Turkey settles for 1 build rather than 2.

Apologies about any confusion. Thanks to the players who pointed out the error of my ways to me. =)

Cheers!

Subject: DC116 Vogon's Revenge - Fall 1908 - Songs That We Sing

Cheers!

dc144 - Mostly Harmless - Pre-Game! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Greetings!
And welcome to this our 144th game, simply titled "Mostly Harmless".

Our 7 confirmed players are listed below... if you have any country
preference let me know, and I'll do my best to get everyone a country
they want to play.

Let's shoot for a gamestart on Monday, how's that? Let me know which
country you'd like, or simply "random" if that's your cup of tea, but do
let me know at least something. I'm thinking w the holidays here, the
first deadline probly wont be till early January.

Most of you (save 1 I think) are completely new to me! So an intro is
in order... My name's Mike, one of 3 moderators here at Diplomaticcorp.
I've been here for a good 3 years running and playing in games... I live
in California w my wife and two little kids, and besides spending WAY
too much time on games, I also do the web design for the site, play with
trains, LEGOs (http://www.sims-family.net/lego/cosmopolitan/index.html),
and and even have a day job too.

Good luck all, and be back in touch with country assignments by Monday!

For the record, some useful stuff:
My house rules: www.sims-family.net/dip/houserules.htm
Our forum address: dc144(at)diplomaticcorp.com

You can visit the forum, and subscribe to the feed if you like.

On other notes, this is a RECORD SETTING GAME for it marks the first
time that Diplomaticcorp has now had 200 unique players in an active
game at the same time! Nice milestone.

On other matters, the Winter Blitz is kicking off next month. If
interested, check it out: www.diplomaticcorp.com/winterblitz

dc144 - Mostly Harmless - forum question - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The question has been posed,
"Our forum address: dc144(at)diplomaticcorp.com Does this email everyone?"

Thought I'd reply this one to all...

Sending to the forum address does not cc all... it posts in the forum.
Usually takes about 5 min after you mail to it, to see the post show up
on the website. It's a place we can all share info that only affects
this game, so that the rest of the site doesn't have to read our blabber
if they don't want to. If you go to the website, go into message board,
and then find the dc144 forum, you'll see anything sent to that address
will automatically post there, or you can post right from the forum
itself.

It will only mail out new posts to those players that opt to subscribe
to the feed! You can manage your subscriptions in the message board, I
think at the top of the message board page is a subscriptions link. If
you subscribe, then you'll get a cc of anything posted, sent to your
email. Not required tho, as my adjudications will be sent to you
directly too.

It's a good place for press, taunts, general chatter about the game,
whatever. Smile
