dc133 (Heir) s04 results! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
I find it simply amazing that some of you continue to side with England and Germany in spite of the fact that they clearly are taking control of the board. I suppose you are planning to take solice in the fact that you helped the winners defeat you.

DC116 Vogon's Revenge - Winter 1909 - Night Time I... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Where's the adjudication? they queried
As the GM - he tarried...
Playing the role of a jerk
He blamed it on work
In a blizzard of paper - he was buried

------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry about the delay guys. The missing build came in during the morning hours, I've just been working like a fanatic all morning and been unable to get to it. Winter adjustments sees two armies raised in Russia, a fleet launched in London, a fleet scuttled in the Ionian and the good ol' boys of Constantinople sent back home to their scrub-brush.

Please let me know if you spot a gaffe in the Winter adjudication. Otherwise we'll move on to Spring 1910 orders, with a deadline set for Saturday, January 12th (11:59 PM GMT.)

Cheers!

GGS 1264 / DC110 - Fall 1867 Deadline Extension - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya GGSers...

A deadline extension request has crossed my email for the Fall 1867 turn. In the interest of maintaining player sanity, I figured it would probably be a good thing to grant the request. It won't be too long of a stretch though - just 48 hours. The revised deadline for the Fall turn will be set for Friday, January 11th (11:59 PM GMT.)

Cheers everyone!

Hey disco-lovers.. Italy throws the drowning Austrian a lifeline, throwing a disco-globe sized monkey-wrench into the Tsar's plans. Meanwhile, the northern powers clash over the spelling of the names of several Danish fjords...

No retreats to speak of other than the implosion of the beleaguered Russian Budapest garrison. I've set a deadline for Fall 1903 orders for Sunday, January 13th (11:59 PM GMT). However, if anyone has a problem with the weekend deadline please just let me know and we'll push it back to Monday.

As always, if you spot any sour notes in my big-phat dance beats please just let me know. Cheers!

DC127 Spring 05 Retreat Due!!! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
OF COURSE I was only testing you and there is nothing sketchy at all about my furtive work-time adjudicating OH NO!

German Fleet Den can retreat to the Baltic Sea or OTB (Off-The-Board)

If Cory can let me know either way, I'll post it up as soon after I get it as I can. I'm assuming a retreat to Bal, which will be the default retreat at 3pm tomorrow if I don't hear anything

Kind regards - and keep up the good work Wink

DC150 Fall.. Temp GM - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi folks,
Real quick... Wow, a 3-build Austria!

Send me your builds, while we cheer on your GM in Las Vegas... hopefully he comes back rich!

If you've sent any prelim builds to Fletch, I dont have them, so be sure to reply here.

Assuming he can afford the bus fare on the way back, and assuming he doesnt have to sell his computer for food, then the game goes back to Fletch for '02.

NOTE - because this is a build turn, I will run the builds whenever I have them all! This means if I have them all tomorrow, you'll get results tomorrow. This differs from normal spring / fall turns which will always wait till the deadline.

Enjoy!

Do you guys have a standby list? - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
I am willing to be a standby but I didn't know if there was a standby list I could sign up for.

If you don't have one maybe you could have one? Some place a person can put there name, perhaps with deadlines or varients they are willing to sign up for?

Like this:

Player: Flapjack

Varients: Any except for economic ones like Payola

Deadlies: At least once day for Dip and once every 2 days for varients.

Just a thought.

A call for NEW gm's! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hey again,
Since posting this last week, we’ve started 2 new games, and have yet another almost ready to go!

Between the Winter Blitz (www.diplomaticcorp.com/winterblitz) and the dipwiki (www.dipwiki.com) all rolling out this January, we’re just bursting with new players looking for a game.

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at GM’ing, (especially new players who have enjoyed playing but not tried GM’ing) let either me or Steve or Trout know! We can certainly help w getting up to speed on things.

Enjoy,
-mike

Hey diplomers…
The next standard game has filled (again) and is in search of a fearless leader!

There are currently 16 GM’s running 38 games in the club… if you would like to join the ranks, pls let me know!

Some benefits of being a GM:
* It will improve your play! You will learn how players order, how alliances change, and so on. It will definitely take your Diplomacy game to the next level.
* It only takes about 20 minutes per week to run a turn.
* You’re making it possible for 7 other players to enjoy the game.

You remember your first game, right? You remember the GM, and the commentaries, and when the results came out? Well our next standard is full of 7 anxious and interested new players looking for that person to be their GM!

Especially to those new to the club… we run completely by volunteer help. Anyone can GM a game, just have to speak up.

Once you do, you will most likely get hooked and always want to run a couple while playing in a couple.

Enjoy!
-mike

Re: Do you guys have a standby list? - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi Flapjack,
What we do have in terms of standby lists, is the Light Brigade - this is managed by Trout (former.trout(at)gmail.com) - if interested, ping him... it's basically a committed group of ppl ready to step up and fill replacement spots should one come up and a game suddenly need a player - usually for rather poor positions (the good positions dont seem to have a problem getting replacements - wonder why... ) Mainly just doing the club a favor by filling in for them.

As for the other variants, we dont keep a list of ppl that want to play them, cuz games are based on GM... generally a GM will step up and say "I want to run one of these" and so it goes on the Open Games list where players can join. If you are interested in drumming up support for any variant in particular, you should just post such in the variants forum... being sure to make the subject line good, cuz that's what shows on the site home page. Then if there's a few ppl interested, likely a GM will step up and open a game for it, and then players can join. Like I've opened up the Pericles game, to see what interest there is in it, but if something else seems better, I'm flexible! Also if there's any game you want to RUN, then by all means we can set up an opening for it, just let someone know.

As for the "Once every day or once every 2 days"... that would be considered "extremely insane blitz" play... Even the Winter Blitz tournament allows 3 days per turn! Typical games run 1 week per turn. Some GM's tho have, on occasion, been crazy enough to take on such fast games... <ahem... Felix>

Thanks for the info - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Mike,

Thanks for the info.

I have no problem with longer deadlines...I was going by the houserules I saw listed with the Pericles variant as I didn't see deadlines listed with any other games so I wasn't sure what is expected on here--some of the judges at the Diplomatic Pouch think anything more than 72 hours is for wimps. I generally go with the flow wherever I am--I can play fast or slow, its up to the other players.

I'll let Trout know I'm available, I don't mind taking mercy positions. Sometimes they are a lot of fun and there is no pressure playing them as no expects you to do anything anyway.

DC103 - Fall 1912 - Hide And Seek - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hey hey all,

Blood spills in the Balkans as Italy and Turkey duke it out. Turkey appears to have gained the upper hand in the exchange, but with the retreats it may just even out... In the meantime, France looks to Munich and the northern waters and Russia and England continue to jam up the Scandinavias.

Two retreats to deal with before the Winter adjustments - both Italian. The army in Serbia can retreat to Alb, Bul or OTB and the fleet in Greece can retreat to Alb or OTB. Deadline for these retreats is set for Friday, January 11th (11:59 PM GMT). If I receive the retreats earlier however, marked FINAL, I will attempt to adjudicate early.

As always, please let me know if you spot any errors or slip-ups. Cheers folks!

Of course the army to bul, and the fleet to alb.
These are final…
Thanks,

And for the record, the only one gaining the upper hand by this persistent attack from Turkey, is France.
