dc91 s10 results! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Check out the Austrian wall of fleets... who's ever seen 5 in a row like that before? Yeah those are Austrian. On other fronts, England makes a strong move into Finland, and what's going on there in Greece?

Next: Let's go with Tuesday 11/6, 2pm Pacific

Enjoy!
-mike

DC105 Tears Of Cassandra - Fall 10 - Honor Him - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
And so, in the end, we all end up dancing to the slow beats of the snake charmer dude... The flying carpets zoom over-head as Persia cruises to a 19-center solo victory. Carthaginians everywhere barely look up at the news, busy as they are at turning their swords into plow-shares. And in the northern provinces, Rome ekes out a narrow survival by slipping into the quiet hills of Vindobona.

A big congratulations to Mike for the solo, and a hearty thank you to all of you players for chasing this one all the way to the end. I've always had a soft spot for the Ancient Med variant, and I seriously enjoyed seeing this one play itself out.

EOGs are, of course, always welcome.

Cheers, my fellow Ancient Mediterranean Warriors. =)

Oh - one minor bit of trivia. The subject headers from the second half of the game came from the soundtrack to the movie Gladiator. Just for those of you who keep track of these types of things..

Cheers,

Trout

dc105 TOC - Persia EOG - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi,
Good game all… Can’t believe it’s been 10 years!

Ancient Med is a favorite of mine so I was happy Trout ran one… impeccably as always. So I got the solo here, I can’t say it’s totally earned, but hey a solo is a solo, and as you know what they say in Persia… I’m not going to poke a spitting camel in the… well never mind.

I got the 19, I’d say mostly due to the fact that Caleb is an awesome ally, and he refused to stab me since I refused to stab him. It was only at the end of the game when I lucked into Leptis (putting me at 17), and then Greece missed a build that I figured that is something that shouldn’t be passed up, so I went for it.

Lee I know you’ll point out that Caleb should have turned on me for like 3 years straight and yeah he probly should have, but Rome would never back down, and you wouldn’t help take out Rome, leaving him little choice in the matter. Also I think you should have taken Leptis when you had the chance. I don’t see why you were letting Cory stay there in such a focal spot when he wasn’t really helping you. If that was your fleet instead, it might have stalemated things.

Caleb makes a great partner, and any one lucky enough to get on his good side will likely have a game-long ally…

Cory of course I didn’t need your last dot, but couldn’t bring myself to stab Caleb and so I was just killing time looking for an opening. I didn’t expect to get it…

And Felix, well, missing that set of orders really early on pretty much hosed your game and left you playing 2nd harpsichord to Greece.

That’s about it! See you all next time,
-mike

Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - Fall 1865 - G... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
- AUSTRALIA OFFICIALLY CHANGES ITS OFFICIAL BEER TO HEINEKEN AS DUTCH NAVY DOMINATES
- CITIZENS SHRUG OFF MONTEZUMA'S REVENGE IN MEXICO CITY AND CELEBRATE MEXICAN ARMY RETURN
- UNITED STATES STEAM INTO QUEBEC - ENGLISH CANADIANS SAY 'YOU CAN HAVE 'EM, EH!'
- HABSBURGS TURN INTO DESERT RATS - ARRANGE FOR SPHINX TO BE TRANSPORTED TO VIENNA FOR DISPLAY

(Apologies to all you French-Canadians out there for the absolutely shocking third head-line...) =P

Well, the nastiness of Fall 1865 falls by the wayside. The currents twist and twirl, helping some emerging powers out and threatening to turn into a deadly little whirl-pool for others. Russia takes a step back from the Chinese proper, the British reclaim their perch in the North Atlantic and, alas, we say farewell to the Prussian empire. My thanks go to Shane for stepping into an extremely tough position. Also, many thanks to Suzanne for getting in that last set of orders in what proved to be a doomed effort. Split 3-ways by three different powers, Prussia becomes the games first elimination - but definitely not the last.

Several retreats are needed after this little tango of ours. If I could please hear from France, Japan, Mexico, United States and Britain I would appreciate it. Early Winter 1865 deadline will be set for Friday, November 2nd (11:59 PM GMT).

I'd like to set the Winter adjustment deadline for Sunday, November 4th and the Spring 1866 deadline for a week from tonight - for Wednesday, November 7th (11:59 PM GMT). If this is too quick for anyone, please let me know.

As always, please review the results and make sure I didn't make a bone-headed mistake. Cheers all!

DC130 Imperial1840 ~ Variant Info - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Nothing to forgive - you found a snafu!

The Ottoman's have 5 units and home centers; Angora (ANG), Bagdad (BAG), Constantinople (CON), Egypt (EGY), & Sofia (SOF).

To help in seeing, I posted a double sized map in PNG and JPG formats at:

Please forgive me for my incessant pestering; however, the map on
DiplomaticCorps shows that I have five units. Not that I am trying to be
reduced to four units; but, the vaiant files you sent me only lists 4 supply
centers.

.ExternalClass DIV {;} Thank you all for waiting on this game... between fires, and vacations it's been a little while.

I'd like to jump right back into this, but unfortunately our English commander has notified me that he'll have to leave us. What I would like to do is put our choices up to a vote. It seems like it's too early in the game to call a draw; however that is a choice that you may all make at any point in the game, but I see our choices as follows.

1. Proceed with England in Civil Disorder.

2. Seek a replacement for England, pausing further until a player is found.

What does everyone think? Any other suggestion you'd like to voice? Let me know.

hmm.. Good point.

Removing them seemed the logical choice at the time... In the future I'll verify with the player if they want such a post removed.

What? That’s part of the hilarious fun of the game when stuff like that happens! It could be a fake or it could be real, never know…

dc130 Imperial1840 ~ New RP File - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
A new RP archive that fixes the Ottoman 4/5 center glitch is available at: http://mainecav.org/diplomacy/rp_imperial1840.zip

If this could replace the file on the diplomaticcorp site - that would be nice.
