dc130 ~ Imperial1840 ~ Deadline - oh the hell with... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Not a peep from the two delinquent players and with Thanksgiving being tomorrow - the biggest travel holiday of the year in the US - I'm not likely to find TWO replacements, so...
The new deadline is: November 26, 2359 gmt. Everyone should be home from grandma's by then, had a healthy $#!+, and can get back to business.

The Wheel of Time continues to turn, and Ages come and pass over and over, leaving too many memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.
The wind blew down the rugged slopes of the Mountains of Mist, thick with the smell of winter though Spring was long overdue. It flowed across the river Taren and deep into the Caralain grass.
It whipped the flags of seven small armed encampments as the leaders of the new Seven Confederations walked to the Council tent.
Davram Bashere, High Seat of House Bashere, Lord of Bashere, Tyr and Sidona, Guardian of the Blightborder, Defender of the Heartland, and Marshal-General to Queen Tenobia of Saldaea and Lord Agelmar of House Jagad of Fal Dara represent the Unified Borderlands. Siuan Sanche, Watcher of the Seals, Flame of Tar Valon, The Amyrlin Seat with the Warders Coulin Gaidin and Hammar Gaidin represent the Eastland Confederation, Tar Valon taking command of the chaos in Cairhien. Morgase Trakand, by the Grace of the Light, Queen of Andor, Defender of the Realm, Protector of the People, High Seat of House Trakand and Gareth Bryne, Captain-General of the Queen's Guard represent the Midlands, mighty Andor and recently conquered Murandy. King Mattin Stepaneos den Balgar, having finally crushed his southern rivals in Tear commands all the Southlands, while Pedron Niall, Lord Captain Commander of the Children of the Light controls Amadacia, Ghealdan and Altara. Lord Rodel Ituralde, the Wolf, has unified Arad Domon and Tarabon under his great baner. Finally, Nesta din Reas Two Moons, Malin din Toral Breaking Wave, Mistress of the Ships to the Atha'an Miere and her Master of the Blades Baroc with their multi-tiered parasols fluttering, represent all the naval power of the Sea Folk.
All present know the stakes. The Dark One is breaking free. The never-ending winter is proof for anyone who cares to look. All agree that mankind must be united to face the Last Battle. What cannot be agreed upon is who should command the great host. With angry shouts and threats of violence, the Compact of the Seven Confederations is broken before it can even form. As the tent empties a shadow resolves itself into a too-tall Myrddraal holding two spears, one short, the other tasseled. He Laughs as the spears blacken and turn to ash. This time it will be too easy Shadar Haran thinks as he fades back into the shadows.
Let the Lord of Chaos Rule!

(Or another appropriate character, no Rand Mat and Perrin are not appropriate) Please read my house rules and ask questions about rules or the map sooner rather then later. To reiterate a few points though:
1. Please CC me on all communications. This is something several Variant creators have mentioned as being a big help finding problems with the map and rules.
2. All suggestions will be held for future modifications. Unless the map proves unplayable, I plan to play this through with the rules as stated.
3. I will be lenient on abbreviations, but please see the master list on the appendix of my house rules, or in RP if you use RP.
4. For RP users, I ‘plan’ to send an RP file with the final winter Adj. each year. To read this file, please note that you need the most recent version of RP

The old map file had Alberta and New Zealand listed as supply centers.

You can speculate on which country might win the game. To see start up positions and to gather more information on the game go to the below HTML page. This game has a simple Fighter Unit so Italy is not a weak power, and Russia can cause Turkey some difficulty in the early going.

DC124 - Update & My Vacation - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Here's a brief update on DC124.
I'm leaving for my vacation tomorrow morning. Originally I had intended to pause DC124 while I was gone, but Trout has offered to run things while I'm away. We're also still seeking a replacement for Turkey, and Trout will continue that process as well. I will return on the 8th of December, and I look forward to see how things are gong.
Everyone have a good holiday, and I'll talk with you in a couple weeks.

DC123 Shade Of The Bonsai - Spring 1575 - The Host... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
From the Recorded Words of Asakura Soteki:
Even if one has learned all the sayings of the sages and saints, he should not insist on them obstinantely...
The Asakura and Oda continue to inflict damage to the Takeda in the Spring of 1575, but the real story is in the south where the Mori, with great confidence, stride into their twelfth center. But as they say - easy come, easy go.. Can the forces in Blue hang on to all twelve in the Fall?
We'll find out. Deadline for Fall 1575 orders will be set for Wednesday, November 28th (11:59 PM GMT.)
Also, please note that during this adjudication, I noticed a minor map error from the Fall 1574 adjudication. On the map, it showed the Asakura army still in Tango and not Inaba as ordered in Fall 1574. However, both the written adjudication and the Supply Center / Unit breakdown correctly showed the army in Inaba. My apologies for any confusion this caused - although as the matter never came up I'm not certain that it caused any except to me during this latest adjudication. =P
All that being said, please let me know if you spot any errors stemming from Spring 1575. Cheers foks!
Trout

DC116 Vogon's Revenge - Early Winter 1906 - Breath... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
With Albanian landlords revoking his lease
And all of his debtors requesting their piece
The party simply no longer as fun
Time to just tuck tail and run
The Sultan jumped ship and retreated to Greece.
------------------------------------------------------
Yup - the early winter retreat pretty cut and dry. Turkey falls back to Albania and we move on to Winter. We'll skip the weekend holiday and set Winter adjustments due on Monday, November 26th (11:59 PM GMT). I *will* adjudicate sooner if all orders are received and marked final though.
Happy Turkey-day to our crazy Yankee friends out there. Here's wishing you and your families all the best on this holiday weekend. =)
Cheers,
Trout

DC111:: New Gm-House Rules- - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Greetings!!
If you are getting this, could
you be so kind as to reply that you
understand my house rules.
PLEASE DO SO BEFORE THE DEADLINE STATED BELOW.
Now for some house rules (in addition to those posted in the club).
1. Please title all responses as DC111 in your Header.
I am GMing several games and playing in several at it will help me sort out your orders.
In the header please write DC111:: Your country, and Year/Season and the status of your orders: Prelimps or Final.
2. I accept all abbreviations, if there is confusion about an order I will send you a notice you will have 12 hours
to respond to that notice then I will invalidate your orders. Please keep in mind costal designations.
3. NMRS (No moves received): I give every player a 'free get of of jail' card in this game. Which means if you miss the deadline, I will
send you a private email, at which time you will have 24 hours to submit moves then you will suffer an NMR. A player who
has two NMRS will be replaced and yelled at!
4. Deadline:: Always Midnite 23.59 EDT, GMT-5 That is 12.01 in the morning not afternoon.
5. Confirmation of orders:: I send receipt of all orders. If you do not receive a confirmation, I do not have your moves.
It is the players responsibility to make sure I get the moves.
6. Turns/Extensions:: There will be 7 days between Spring and Fall, this will cross over weekends as well. With retreats within 24 hours/winter within 48. If a player cannot
make those deadlines, the player must request an extension no later than 24 hours before the deadline. Each player will
receive one Extension of no longer than 2 days (vacation exempted). In the spirit of keeping the game moving I ask that players
do not unnecessarily delay the game.
Thats it!!
Thus we now move to SPRING 1907
DUE
NEXT TUESDAY
NOVEMBER 27TH
23.59 EDT, GMT-5
THANK YOU[Reply] |

So the Peloponnese is in fact an island, and not the peninsular it was always made out to be, then?!

Rome hangs on for another year as a double standoff occurs in the capital city...
The Scythians are pushed out of Iaz, and the Egyptians out of the Punic Sea... Both had only 1 retreat option, so I took the liberty. If either player wishes to revise to disband instead, they may w/in 24 hours. Barring that we move right on to Spring 212 BC!

Jason B has graciously volunteered to take over in Germany in the absence of the previous Kaiser.
I am leaving on vacation starting Thursday, and Stephen has agreed to be the substitute GM while I'm gone. Since I am leaving so soon I will allow Stephen to set the next deadline, and please keep in mind that the time of day that orders are due are likely to change since Stephen and I are on opposite sides of the world.
I will return on December 8th, and I look forward to see how things are doing. Good luck!

Babylon 5 - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
While puting together the Star Trek Dip variant, I ran across a lot of Babylon 5 stuff, especially a complete variant in the Variant Bank.
It's that version I took, made some minor mods and tweaks, and set up to run in RealWorld. If you're a fan of this series, you should be happy with this variant. Check out the entry for it on DipWiki which includes an image of the map with starting positions and a link to a "Players Guide."[Reply] |
