But my preference would be to allow travel from London to Moscow. Think of all the evil things the Brits could do... =P

Here is the updated map reflecting seismic activity (mostly in and around Germany).

The canal in Kiel has been destroyed.

It occurs to me that my Isthmus Rules are silent on the topic of connections between land provinces and the Outer Rim of the board. For example -- just hypothetically, of course Smile -- were a player to merge NORWAY and OUT, would the new Nwy-Out connection be an isthmus?

After reflection, I believe it DOES constitute an isthmus. Normally (in the future) under Isthmus Rules, because no isthmus option accompanied Stephen's seismic order, a strait should now exist between between Nwy & OUT connecting Barents and Norwegian. HOWEVER, you are beta-testing these rules, and since this situation was not clearly covered in my rules, I am going to give Stephen the opportunity to clarify his original intent. (My interpretation from the information available is that he intended for there to be NO STRAIT). So, Mr. Lytton, please send that clarification immediately. Thanks.

Next Deadline is F1901 on Thursday at 1000 CST.

Happy stabbing,
Adam

DC 211: S1901 Seismic - AceRimmer   (Oct 12, 2008, 8:52 pm)
Well, I am back from my tete-a-tete in Nebraska with a long-time German ex-vegetarian ex-lesbian friend. I think that's all I need say on the matter Smile

I do have orders from everyone. The results are below, but I will not update the map until tomorrow morning.

There was a question about Germany's grace period, and I figure everybody should get the reply. Since the delay was in part the result of an honest mistake, I would have given Guile the benefit of the doubt -- i.e., I would've let his order be late without penalty. However, once his orders were 24 hours late, I opted to treat the situation as an NMR. As such, I alerted him that he was on a 3-day timer per my house rules; three days after the original deadline (i.e. Friday + 3 days = Monday), he would be abandoned if no orders had been received. Orders were received over the weekend.
So, that was my procedure. There are four points I would make from the above. First: this was a fairly unique situation; I do not expect it to happen again. Further, as we get more familiar with seismic orders, I will in the future treat misorders as waived orders. But for at least the first couple rounds, I don't want to be punitive. Second, I am treating this as an NMR for Guile. Strike one. Third, I expect players to be checking email regularly (i.e. every day), and that being the case, errors like this should be fixable within 24 hours. Fourth, I am not at all upset; this is the just standard stuff of keeping the trains on time.

Spring 1901 Seismics (5 succeed, 2 fail):

Austria: Splitting Ser/Rum (Join Bud / Bul) - *ORDER FAILS*
England: Split Den/Kiel - Join Hel/Bal
France: Bel and Ruh split, Bur and Hol connect
Germany: Kie and Mun separate; Ruh and BERLIN connect
Italy: Ion/OFF disconnect Tun/Eas connect
Russia: Split Nwg Sea and Barents Sea, Connect Norway with edge of board
Turkey: Rum and Bul separate; Ser and Black Sea connect - *ORDER FAILS*

Next Deadline (Fall 1901) will be Thursday at 1000 CST. F1901R will be Friday at 1000 CST. F1901Seismics will be Monday the 20th at 1000 CST.

DC 211: Seismic on Hold - AceRimmer   (Sep 29, 2008, 9:02 am)
I'm sorry to pause the game before getting through the opening credits, but our Turkish player, Eduardo, has contacted me and announced that he will be unable to participate in the game.

So, we will need a replacement (invite a friend!).

And it's better that this happened now than after the opening shots are fired.

Thank you all for your patience. Trout or Lytton, if there's anything I need to do administratively that I have not already done, please let me know.

Adam
