DC223 - Autumn 1905 adjudication - bielf11   (Feb 19, 2009, 8:42 pm)
Autumn 1905: Italy's army in Berlin, without word from its leader, has become a vulnerable target of a German misinformation strategy.
By the end of Autumn there is little left of what once was the pride of the Italian infantry and cavalry. And thus the unit is considered disbanded.

DC223 - New Russian leader - bielf11   (Feb 19, 2009, 7:30 pm)
As I thought a new Russian leader was quick to emerge. Didn't think it would happen this quick though.
I'd like to welcome Jorge Saralegui as the new Russia. His email address is included above.
After this it is up to yourselves to take care of the proper introductions.

Our Winter 1905 deadline remains for Sunday Feb 22 at 23:00 GMT.
Of course we'll expect Italy's Autumn retreat before that.

But before I forget: the latest Endgame Proposal, a 4-Draw TUR/RUS/GER/FRA, was voted down.
And thus we continue the peace efforts in Europe at the start of the 20th century.

DC223 - Russian emperor has resigned - bielf11   (Feb 19, 2009, 5:19 pm)
Joao has asked me to have him replaced as ruler of Russia.
Real life caught up with him so he could no longer consistently meet the deadlines for our game.
Joao, sorry to hear you couldn't finish the game. You had a strong start and I was looking forward to see you scheme towards a solo. But I think it's a good decision for the game.

I will post the vacancy on DC website tonite.
Once this position has been taken, and it shouldn't be hard to find a replacement with such an edge, we will continue with Winter 1905. Autumn 1905 will stay on for tonite.

DC223 - Fall 1905 adjudication - bielf11   (Feb 18, 2009, 9:35 pm)
Fall 1905: The Russian leader has not ordered its units so these stay where they are, while trying to figure out what happened to their leader after such a successful campaign in 1904. The damage however is minimal as no Power has attempted to attack Russian units and the only two that tried to pry away Serbia from the Russians bounced ending up empty-handed.
Turkey slowly moves west while Italy tries to hold on to whatever is around. Italy's little adventure in Germany meanwhile ends with a decisive pushback from the German units in Kiel and Munich; Italy can only retreat to Silesia.
The German and French are still in a deadlock situation around Ruhr and Belgium. Although this time it's the French that have taken a defensive position.

DC223 - Spring 1905 adjudication - bielf11   (Feb 13, 2009, 8:02 pm)
Spring 1905: England recaptures Liverpool from the Russians with the help of France. Question remains whether Russia really believed France's request for support was genuine. The Russians manage to keep the Germans out of Sweden which causes the English attack on Denmark to fail. Further south the Russians seem to make evasive maneuvers around Italy and Turkey. Or is it trying to support the Germans in their defense of the southern border?
The Turks move all units south-west displaying a strong confidence that the Russians will keep their hands off their motherland. Support given to a Russian Serbia - Albania move is wasted as the Russians have moved north into Budapest. Italy uses the majority of its units to ensure a swift victory in Triest only to find that the Russians have already left the place to go to Tyrolia. Meanwhile the Italians also sneak an army behind German lines and take Berlin. So perhaps Germany considers itself lucky that it ordered its fleet from Helgoland to Kiel. The German and the French still battle over Ruhr: will this continue to be a stalemate until their home SCs have eroded?

One retreat required. See below.

Autumn 1904:
Austria: F Greece, no move received (*Disbanded*)
England: F Norway - Skagerrak
Italy: A Trieste - Venice
Thus ends the reign of the Austrian Emperor. Thanks for playing Jack.

And at the end of this fourth year of raging wars across Europe, the Russian Bear seems to have taken a strong lead amongst the Powers.
It is entitled to 4 extra units but has only 3 Home SC available for Builds. With the departure of Austria now also Turkey has started to expand its empire.
France and Germany are still locked in a stalemate along their border. Italy and more so England had to give up terrain to the Russians.

Italy: Supp 4 Unit 5 Remove 1

CORRECTION:

Fall 1904: The Italian ruler has finally been able to restore communication with the outside world after heavy snowfall.

DC223 - Spring 1904 Adjudication - bielf11   (Jan 28, 2009, 5:04 pm)
Spring 1904: Good news: the Austrian Emperor has resurfaced to command its navy in Greece. And he successfully holds his position.
France attacks Ruhr but Germany again keeps the French troops from Belgium and Burgundy out. And even manages to move into Holland at the same time. Some rude jokes have now been reported about the French commander. In either army.
Russia takes Serbia and leaves the Italian army no way out. If it wasn't for the Russian attack from Vienna on Triest, Italy would have hold its position. But it is not all victory for the Russians: in Rumania the Russian fleet from Sevastopol clashes with the Turks from Bulgaria: stand-off, perhaps the better result for Russia with the Turks entering Armenia. Meanwhile the Russian fleet in English Channel fails to take London and now instead needs to retreat. Regardless where the Russians decide to retreat to, rumors have it that the English have called for an emergency meeting.
