NNIGTFML s44 results! - FuzzyLogic   (Feb 17, 2010, 1:18 pm)
Spring results are out!

A couple units require a retreat, but they only had one choice so I just moved them there. If either party prefers OTB instead, let me know else the adjudication stands by this time tomorrow.

Is this the last week for two of our llamapaloosers?
Find out NEXT: Fall 44 Monday Feb 22, 3pm Central!

Alan,

I'm confused, is this assuming that Fredrik will win now? He's on 10, Greg's on 12, and either one needs to reach 20 to solo (or 21?). Even if Fredrik alone gets all your centres, that only takes him to 16. Lots can change in the next few years.

Congratulations Frederik on a well earned solo. I'd like to convince myself that it was due to outstanding tactics and brilliant diplomacy but I just can't do that. Nation after nation in Northern Llamaland fell without any resistance to you, and when resistance was put up (and doing very well I might add) it was squashed by an overeager ally looking to pick up a few easy dots.

Alan,

I'm confused, is this assuming that Fredrik will win now? He's on 10, Greg's on 12, and either one needs to reach 20 to solo (or 21?). Even if Fredrik alone gets all your centres, that only takes him to 16. Lots can change in the next few years.

I'd like to convince myself that it was due to outstanding tactics and brilliant diplomacy but I just can't do that. Yes I am assuming that Fredrik will win now. Without my resistance in the North, Colombia's Venezuala's and Peru's centers should all be no trouble for Frederik to sweep up. With those all going to Brazil he would only need 1 more of mine.

.ExternalClass .ecxhmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.ecxhmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;} Alan,

I'm confused, is this assuming that Fredrik will win now? He's on 10, Greg's on 12, and either one needs to reach 20 to solo (or 21?). Even if Fredrik alone gets all your centres, that only takes him to 16. Lots can change in the next few years.

.ExternalClass .ecxhmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.ecxhmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;} Congratulations Frederik on a well earned solo.

Tell you what Alan,

Why don't you put forth a proposal for Solo for Brasil. I'll sure vote for it, but I doubt that everyone else will. Things are not so clear cut.

NNIGTFML w1842 builds - Kenshi777   (Jan 27, 2010, 1:11 pm)
My best friend's dad had three of his four sons, a cousin and myself
playing when I was age 11. (Yes, I know that's only six people - the
youngest one would get England and Austria) - we never played the
recommended 6 person rules.

Well, at least I'm not the youngest, though at 23 I'm not that much older.
Irritatingly, I've not managed to get anyone to play me on a real board
(game length...) so I've been playing email-based Diplomacy for the last 7
years. 16 has to be a pretty young start, right?

Guilty as charged - of all my variants, SAS needs the most work. It
was one of my very first stabs at variant design, that rolled off the
press back around 2000-2001.

On the other hand, my masterpiece is recruiting for players right now!
The latest revision of Sengoku (version 6.0, with the DP system) is
on the DC website. (Compare that to SAS, which never made it past
version 1.1)

NNIGTFML w1842 builds - AlanRFarrington   (Jan 27, 2010, 11:21 am)
I'm allowed to be upset at Paraguay's starting position-- I haven't seen lack of sea access since Ukraine in Modern! I recently build a fleet just to see how it felt, the people of Ascunsion were not impressed.

Anyway to answer the question yes I have played on a real board, even though it was only once. In my defense though it was at the World Boardgaming Championships. I've never played the PC game though--too modern for me (I still listen to my vinyl)

I've met a few people in college which put them at the same age as me, but I"m sure a few are still in high school.

If you like, I can send you a list of people who turn their nose up at

Wood blocks, wasn't it rocks in Scott's day? And no board, they'd just hit each other the head with them. And that was Diplomacy - and they liked it!

NNIGTFML w1842 builds (update) - FuzzyLogic   (Jan 27, 2010, 8:20 am)
I dont know how it happened, since I read Army, thought Army, even selected Army on Realpolitik before double-clicking on Rio... yet a fleet popped in there. Typically I'd blame gnomes. But I guess in this game it must be the llamas. Or the possum. Some defenseless or imaginary creature that can't possibly defend itself when I assign it the blame.

You should. You are. Even if you ADD the age of my 3 kids, TO my age, I'd still be younger than you.
I believe Bruce Ray is the oldest player in dc, if not the world.

We dont track or ask for birthdate upon signup, tho it might be interesting to. Might be too personal. Also kinda fun to find out what age of ppl you're working w as you get to know them and not have that all disclosed up front.

Wood blocks, wasn't it rocks in Scott's day? And no board, they'd just hit each other the head with them. And that was Diplomacy - and they liked it!

be nice Mike - Scott is one of my regular variant groupies (though

If you like, I can send you a list of people who turn their nose up at
my variants, and you can be mean to them all day long. Such people
deserve abuse. Smile

Well, at least I'm not the youngest, though at 23 I'm not that much older. Irritatingly, I've not managed to get anyone to play me on a real board (game length...) so I've been playing email-based Diplomacy for the last 7 years.

(Compare that to SAS, which never made it past
version 1.1)

be nice Mike - Scott is one of my regular variant groupies (though
he's not a fan of Balkans1860). So no pissing him off Smile

If you like, I can send you a list of people who turn their nose up at
my variants, and you can be mean to them all day long. Such people
deserve abuse. Smile

I believe Bruce Ray is the oldest player in dc, if not the world.

We dont track or ask for birthdate upon signup, tho it might be
interesting
to. Might be too personal. Also kinda fun to find out what age of ppl
you're working w as you get to know them and not have that all disclosed
up
front.

finished high school and was going into Brown Univ...
That was a few years back tho.
