I was kind of hoping this wouldn't happen, but no word from England regarding his retreat. Hopefully he shows up for the spring turn.
The English fleet is retreated OTB. Fall is due in one week, Friday December 16, 16:00 MST.
Let me know if anyone has any big gaps over the holidays and what kind of break, if any, you would like.
Maps are attached, Have fun.

Slight extension - alwayshunted (Dec 02, 2011, 5:58 pm) |
Hi group,
I realize that I probably wasn't specific enough with regard to this. The extension asked for was half a day, which makes the new deadline officially at 4 oclock on Saturday morning my time. This will not likely happen for obvious reasons.
At this time I will point out again, as I mentioned in the game opening e-mail, that orders for anyone can be changed ANYTIME up to the point that I open my hotmail account with the intention of adjudicating. So any of you may now change your orders up to the point that I get around to it this weekend. I will likely get around to it on Saturday morning (not at 4 am). When I do get around to it I will use any changes that any of you have made between now and then. Clear? And since the extension request was for half a day, anyone that does not have orders in when I go to adjudicate will receive an nmr.
Okay. That's all for now.

Okay, now everything is clear.... like mud. Lot's of bouncing going on.
Unfortunately we say so long to Austria this year. I will take the liberty of retreating Serbia OTB since Albania is the only option. No nmr will be charged of course. Thanks for playing Sam... I know how that feels as Austria. And on another note, the last three games I've GMd have all seen Austria eliminated by the end of 1902. Huh.
So on with it. We have one other retreat, for Russia.
Fleet Sweden can retreat to Finland, Gulf of Bothnia or Skagerrak.
The retreat will be due in 21 hours, Wednesday November 23 at 16:00 MST. Winter adjustments will be due this Thursday, 16:00 MST. That's 23:00 GMT for both times. I have family visiting so I don't know how prompt I'll be, but I'll try to sneak away.....

Hi folks,
Okay, I have seven willing players and I have drawn countries randomly. There was actually interest in using preferences from only one player, and when I went back to check his e-mail I think he'll be happy enough with how things turned out.
Mike, we need a number please.
Some of you are fairly new, or very new, to diplomacy by e-mail. I am your unbiased GM and your question board in case any of you have any. Questions you ask to me are not shared with anyone, so feel free to e-mail me any time. I will not, of course, give anyone any "game" advice, only rules and such.
I use the diplomaticcorp house rules essentially. Please read them if you haven't.
I will not allow an nmr (no moves received) to be processed in the first year of the game, and anyone that doesn't get their orders in to me by the deadlines in 1901 will be immediately replaced. The new player will then get an opportunity to chat with his neighbours and submit orders for that turn.
You can send me as many versions of your orders as you like. Send them ONLY to me. I will use the latest set I have received at the point that I open my e-mail account to adjudicate the turn. That might be within a minute of my assigned deadline or it might be a bit later. I will do my best to be prompt wrt deadlines.... but I'm only human.... mostly. By all means send preliminary orders right away in case you get distracted as the deadline approaches. It's better to have something in then to get nailed with an nmr.
Below I have pasted the player assignment list and e-mails etc. The first deadline (Spring 1901) will be in just over one week, on Wednesday October 26 2011, Mountain Daylight Time. I think that's GMT minus 7 hours.

Hi folks,
Okay, I have seven willing players and I have drawn countries randomly.

So there you have it. I've attached a map and a realpolitik file. For those that don't have or use realpolitik, you might want to give it a try. You can download it from the DC website if you're logged in. It can be useful for planning strategies and such.
Okay I think that wraps it up. Any questions, feel free to mail me. Have fun!
