DC428 Spring 1905 Orders - Zoterik   (Jul 31, 2012, 11:25 pm)
The invasions continue, but the Russian advance into Germany is stalled, and only Italy makes inroads into Austria.  All alliances appear to be holding steady thus far, and I look forward to the next deadline.  The Fall 1905 Orders are due at 9:00pm US Central time on 4th August, or 03:00 BST on 5th August.  I'm starting to try to plan around the WDC, which will take up most of my time two weekends from now.  It's good to be a Weasel, at least this year.

DC428 Winter 1904 Adjustments - Zoterik   (Jul 26, 2012, 10:25 pm)
I'll spare the suspense this time-the proposed Russian solo has been declined, and the game proceeds accordingly.  I would have been amazed if it was approved, but there's a bit of anonymous Press for you anyway.  1905 begins with the Germanic nations scrambling to defend against invading forces.  The deadline for Spring 1905 Orders is 9:00pm US Central on 31 July, or 03:00 BST on 01 August.

DC428 Fall 1904 Orders - Zoterik   (Jul 23, 2012, 10:14 pm)
A lot happened this turn, but only one center changed hands-Italy takes Greece from Austria with Turkish assistance.  The Russian advance into Germany is stalled for now, but it's enough to invoke a bit of anonymous press and the first End of Game proposal.  Austria also has an NMR, but the result is about the same as it would have been if he had moved; the Austrian fleet in Greece has one retreat-Albania-which has been ordered.  The Russian army in Munich was dislodged but has no valid retreat, thus it is disbanded.

Adjustments are below the orders, as usual.  Austria, Italy, and Russia each have one adjustment to submit.  The deadline for Winter 1904 Adjustments is 9:00pm US Central on 26 July, or 03:00 BST on 27 July.

End of Game Proposal: RUSSIAN SOLO.

Please submit your votes within one game year (by the Fall 1905 Adjudication at the latest).

Interlaken Informant: The hills are alive, with the sound of... Russian jackboots.

DC428 Spring 1904 Results - Zoterik   (Jul 18, 2012, 10:37 pm)
The invasion of Austria may have begun, but the defenses have held the first wave.  Elsewhere, a clever English convoy helps to defend against the French fleet, while the Russians move into Munich.  The German army in Munich is dislodged, but it has only one valid retreat; I sent it to Bohemia.  The Fall 1904 Orders will be due at 9:00pm US Central on 23rd July, or 03:00 BST on 24th July.

DC428 Winter 1903 Adjustments - Zoterik   (Jul 13, 2012, 6:53 am)
All I can say is that I feel this game is like a reality show.  Of the original seven, three remain.  England failed to submit builds and respond to my messages, so he goes into Civil Disorder and three of his units are destroyed.  England, please reply if you want to reclaim your position.  The only two builds are fleets on the Mediterranean, and France will play down one unit this year.

We proceed to Spring 1904.  Orders are due 17 July at 9:00pm Central, or 18 July at 03:00 BST.

DC428 Fall 1903 Orders - Zoterik   (Jul 06, 2012, 10:53 pm)
Our third year closes with an utterly devastating NMR from England.  I guess his vacation went a bit longer than anticipated.  Austria holds his own against Italy and retakes Trieste, while  Turkey gains a center from Russia, who gains a center from Germany, who gains a center from England.  The Italian army Trieste had one retreat (Venice), which was ordered, thus the game proceeds to Winter.  Adjustments are below the orders, and are due at 9:00pm US Central Time on Wednesday 11 July, or 03:00 BST on Thursday 12 July.  Only England, France, and Turkey have adjustments this year.

DC428 Spring 1903 - Zoterik   (Jun 28, 2012, 9:22 am)
Some interesting moves this turn.  Neither Italy nor Austria move to Trieste, as Italy tries something clever and Austria aligns himself into a strong tactical position, dislodging the Italian A Albania in the process.  England leaves Belgium and Brest, permitting Germany to slip into Belgium and France into Brest.  Turkey, despite having the lowest center count, appears rather secure,  and Russia strikes decisively towards the center of the board.

There are three dislodged units which need to be given a retreat or disbanded.  They are A Albania (one retreat), A Burgundy (three), and F Mid Atlantic (eight).  The Summer 1903 retreats are due at 9:00pm US CDT on Sunday, 1st July, or 03:00 BST on Monday, 2nd July.

Germany has pointed out to me that I made a mistake in the Spring 1902 orders.  Russia had actually ordered Petersburg to Moscow, which I correctly transferred into realpolitik, but I incorrectly wrote in the adjudication email that the army was ordered to Norway.    The error does not affect the game, and I thank him for noticing.

DC428 Spring 1902 Orders - Zoterik   (Jun 12, 2012, 9:04 am)
Utterly fascinating.  After the last adjudication I would have wagered good money that the invasion of Russia was at hand.  Instead, it's the exact opposite.  We have some more Press this turn, first from Switzerland, second from Russia.  Italy NMRs for the second consecutive season and goes into Civil Disorder.  I will post a notice on the DC forums advertising the position, but for the Fall 1902 turn, Italian units and supply centers are impassable unless I find a replacement soon.

The Turkish army in Bulgaria is dislodged and has no valid retreat.  It is disbanded and we proceed past Summer 1902 and on to Fall 1902. The deadline is 9:00pm CST on 16th June, which is 02:00 GMT on 17th June.

Zürcher Zeitung: My dear Prime Minister, our Norwegians are loyal of course, why do you ask?
Pravda: Do not listen to the vile Sultan's propaganda. Anyone who has communicated with me, the Tsar, knows that I am more than diplomatic in my conduct with other leaders of the world. Bullying and coercing have never been part of the Russian agenda. Unfortunately, from the start of our negotiations it was clear that the Sultan could not be reasoned with. He is unstable, fickle and prone to irrational decisions. Any who trust him now: be careful! His words of friendship will be revealed as the deceit that they are soon enough. Russia deeply regrets this turn of events. But we will do whatever it takes to protect our glorious homeland. And in this case, that will mean the end of the Turkish oppressors, once and for all!

DC428 Winter 1901 Adjustments - Zoterik   (Jun 06, 2012, 10:12 pm)
Alright, next year the Winter season will be shorter.  I'm no longer going to track down people who haven't given me orders; get them in or NMR.  Italy failed to submit his build, but the game continues.

The embers of the Crimean War are rekindled as the Ottoman Sultan publicly states his declaration of war on the Tsar (given below) and England ensures no Bonapartist will cast his evil eye over the English Channel!  The Spring 1902 orders are due Monday, 11th June at 9:00pm US Central Time (Tuesday, 12th June at 02:00 GMT).

To my friends, allies, future friends and future allies.  It is with great regret that I, as Sultan, must declare war on the Russian Dog.  From the moment he took control of his formally great country, he has shown himself to be nothing more than a bully!  He feels he has the right to tell ME what to do with my people.  I am the Sultan! I will make my own decisions!

If this puts me at odds with any of my neighbors I regretfully accept that consequence.  I only offer to those this warning.  The Tsar cannot be trusted.  He as requested that I "listen" to him and build a fleet in Smyrna, I ask my Italian and Austrian friend, where would he next order me to send that fleet?

I wish you all well in your endeavors!

DC428 Fall 1901 Results! - Zoterik   (Jun 01, 2012, 12:05 am)
Pardon the expression, but some of you gentlemen have balls of steel.  There were some gutsy decisions with home centers at risk, but as the Latin proverb goes, fortune favors the bold!  Either that, or some of you are just really good diplomats.  And I think we had a breakdown in German efficiency, but I can never truly tell with these sorts of things.  I've had plenty of misorders-both real and feigned-in face-to-face matches.  If any of you feel you need a regular reminder, tell me.  I know most of you are new on the site, but I shouldn't need to send them out; preliminary orders take care of the problem for both you and me.  Deadlines are regularly five days long, plenty of time to figure things out and send a second, third, etc. version.

Winter 1901 adjustments (given below the orders) are due at 9:00pm US Central Time on Wednesday, 6th June, or 02:00 GMT on Thursday, 7th June.

Quite a bit of press this turn.  Those comments provided by the Zürcher Zeitung come out of Switzerland-Zurich, to be precise.  These are anonymous.

DC428 Spring 1901 Results - Zoterik   (May 23, 2012, 9:18 pm)
Now that German high command has been restored, the game proceeds!  All your secret negotiations, (mis)information, and plotting will either bear fruit or come to naught. The orders received are absolutely fascinating, and I look forward to a frantic Fall 1901.  Well, frantic for some.

Two comments:  First, preliminary orders make the world go 'round.  They prevent NMRs, which makes both players and GMs happy, and I strongly encourage everyone to use them (you never know when your internet might collapse, or your computer might need an essential part replaced).  Please use them.  The sense of last-minute panic upon realizing you might not have submitted any orders whatsoever is simply too terrifying to wish upon anyone.  Second, some of you might have noticed that our first German player gave his location as a town in northern Italy, which is 100 km away from the epicenter of the earthquake which occurred in the early morning hours of 20 May.  This is not related to his sudden absence from the game; I had tried and failed to reach him well before the earthquake struck.  No matter what his reasons were, I think we can all agree he may have more important things to deal with than Diplomacy right now.  Many thanks are due to Cartesian for stepping into the Stadtschloss with true Germanic efficiency.

And you may notice we have a bit of Press out of Berlin.  Any players wishing to submit Press (including anonymously) can do so and I will reveal it along with the orders.  Finally, if anyone spots a mistake, you have until the next adjudication to bring it to my knowledge.  So, without further ado, here are the Spring 1901 orders.  As we have no retreats, we proceed to the Fall 1901 turn, which will end on Monday, 28th May at 9:00pm US Central Time, which is Tuesday, 29th May at 03:00 London time for our two British players.
