hehe... First vote is my "lame".  I may hate gunboat, but there are a slew of people out there that die for them. I guess it's kinda like poeple who would like pralines in their ice cream, or maybe flat tires on their car. Yeah I guess it's kinda like that to me. Is there a bold GM out there willing to run a gunboat Standard game? Haven't played a silent round in a while, and was hoping to do so. Not sure if DC lends itself to that format though, as I think the website lists the player names that joined the game - any way around that?

Has generally played out well in past. Will be using an auction scheme to assign minor powers. If no 1 likes it can be ignored but don't underestimate the value of the right fit. Well-balanced game.

This will be, as noted in the subject line, a playtest, which will also be a Demo Game in the Diplomacy World Zine. Nick Higgins will be GMing, and there will be an elite roster--I already have a bunch of ACD players. If you want to play, I will either need to know you, or you will probably need to give me references as to your reliability and skill. We are looking to start late this year. I would suggest that the deadlines will be fairly leisurely.

For those of you looking for differences from the previous version of this variant, there is more fluidity, especially around the edges, but the removal of Italy as a Power opens up the middle as well. Lots of small changes for balancing purposes.

Italy's player had other longterm commitments so we're looking for a new player.
DC176 is about to enter Fall 1907. Only Turkey has been eliminated sofar. The game is still well-balanced with 4 Powers (ENG, RUS, AUS, and ITA) holding almost the same number of 6-8 SCs. France is making life hell for England and Germany has done well surviving with only one unit remaining.
