As the Subject Header says, with the Fall of 07, the Cossacks bludgeon their way into the 18 centers needed for European domination! The remaining powers do what they can to stop the raging white wave, but unfortunately fall just one straw short.
My hearty congratulations to Nigel for the solo win. Also, my thanks to all other players on the board for their efforts. As frustrating as it might have been for some, I hope you all had as much fun battling it out as I did watching it unfold.
EOGS are, of course, welcome and greatly appreciated. The stats for the game will be recorded and tabulated in preparation of round 2.

Hi All,
I don't know how much diplomacy is going on so I wonder if there isn't a way to accelerate the play. Submitting orders marked "final" may allow Fletch to adjudicate when he receives a full set of "final" orders. Rather than the hard Monday-Thursday schedule. Just a thought. I'm good either way.

I would like to offer a suggestion, though. We can end the game now, perhaps, giving a 3-way win to Germany, Italy, and Austria. I'd be willing to capitulate now and you might be able to get France to go along rather than draw it out. I'd like to at least eke out a survivor award if I can.

Not to discredit Nigel, for he took what was given to him and
manipulated it perfectly, but I still feel this game was completely
screwed up from the get-go with Germany's disappearance. I know the
Kaiser probably felt a bit screwed with 4 different enemy units around
Mun after Spring 1901, but, as I told him was going to happen, Mun
didn't even fall that year. All he lost was Ber to Russia, which in all
honesty should never happen.
I guess the main reason this game pissed me off so much was that
Germany's disappearance completely negated my stab of Austria, which
came off exactly as I engineered it, something always fulfilling to
see. The general problem with attacking Austria right off the bat as
Italy is that Turkey and Russia usually end up with more of the gains
than you. However, I specifically made sure that I could take Vie, and
not just Tri, in 1901, so that that wouldn't happen. The problem was
that Russia was able to make unreasonable gains in the north because of
the NMR (without it, as he said, he wouldn't have had Ber or Swe),
allowing him to grow despite not gaining any Austrian centers. Once he
had those extra units, and no pressure coming at him from the north,
there was no way I was going to be able to hold him off. Further, the
full extent of what he was going to be able to take in the north was not
completely apparent until the exact turn when I decided to go with him
against Turkey, instead of the opposite (a choice I made because I saw
continued expansion paths for Russia that were not through me, something
I did not see for Turkey), so Russia was able to explode to a lead that
he never lost.
For a while after this I did all I could to convince Turkey and England
(who I must say I blame most for the solo because he had the best
opportunity to attack Russia) that we had to all cooperate against
Russia full force to stop a solo, but they didn't listen, so eventually
I stopped trying. And what do you know, Russia soloed.

Gentlemen,
I apologize for my absence, I had a family emergency that involves my daughter needing surgery. There was also an incident at work that required my immediate attention (a piece of important equipment was discovered to be unaccounted for so the unit had to go into lock-down). I will continue as best I can, but with my daughter will obviously take priority until the problem is resolved.
I guess any aspirations for world domination in real life will have to fall on the shoulders of those with no kids...huh?

As has been said already, the turning point here was
the Germany NMRing. I tried right away to rally the
troops against Russia, but to no avail and when I
found myself ally-less, all I could do was try to
survive... which I'm happy to say, I did.
I really thought England was going to turn around,
resulting in a EI vs TR endgame, but that didn't
happen either.
All in all, certainly not the most fun I've had
playing diplomacy, but every game's different and
that's what's great about it.
And thanks to our faithful GM... administered well.
All is forgiven and I hope to see you sometime on
another board.
