dc457: spring 1619 comments - mmedeiros   (Jul 04, 2013, 11:08 pm)
Spain continues its eastward push taking Lower Saxony. English fleet destroyed after Spanish reconquest of Galicia. Scandinavia loses its hold of Silesia; army lost after attempting to enter Brandenburg. English fleet now occupies Normandy, resulting in a French garrison in the Netherlands surrounded by English and Spanish units. Austria's expansion continues but its push into central France is thwarted by the army of Savoy, and an unsuccessful attempt to gain Tunis fails after a naval clash with Spain.

dc459 Summer 03 and press - jerome777   (Jul 03, 2013, 3:07 pm)
Catalan Chronicle, 15 July, 1903

*Black Sea reoccupied!*

*News from the Underworld!*

Welcome to the fifteenth edition of your indescribable Catalan Chronicle!

Our Crimean correspondent has spotted Russia's dislodged southern fleet steaming into the centre of the Black Sea to regroup. What could this mean? Buy your next edition of the Chronicle to find out...

Russia:
F Constantinople - Black Sea

The next deadline is Autumn 03 moves and press Friday 5 July 2000GMT.

And we have messages to share with you:

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

From our Vienna correspondent:

Russia: Con is locked supporting Ank. Assuming you retreat to Smy for the center. So how about Bul S Ser -> Gre? Also, Gal -> Boh? Sil -> Boh would have been nice......

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

Telegrams from London:
to
Berlin:  Looking good!  I'll support you to Sweden and the assault on
France can begin.  You take Paris and Marseilles, I take Brest and
Iberia?

to Moscow:  I still have no qualms with you, and no interest in advancing beyond St. Petersburg.

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

This is the REAL Italy...well maybe.

To France:  Nice to see that you are a man/woman of your word.  You don't bother me and I won't bother you.

To Germany:  We each have our hands full, you can trust me to stay within our borders.....for now.  Good luck out West!

To Russia:  Now is the time my friend.  If you would kindly cut
support by attacking Bud, Ser and or Vie.  If I can march or sail into
Tri this turn it will cripple our common foe.  I will then be free to
help you in your quest of the Turkish lands.

To Turkey:  Sorry dude!

To England:  Ummmmm. good luck!

To Austria:  Buh Bye!
 ---------------------------------------------------------------

?????? ??????? ?? ????!

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

Russia to Vienna & Rome:  AIR anyone?  We dispatch Turkey, loop in France and form a flying wedge at Berlin?

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

This is PERUN, GOD OF WAR!!  You mere mortals have twice spurned my
advice.  Thrice will be too much.  Your brains are like sober warriors
in Valhalla.  They don't exist.  Heed my warning, ye fools.  Angles and
Saxons now you fear, but Romans will soon call you deer.  And because
your brains don't exist, I'll explain:  when Caesar solos, you'll all
look like deer in the path of a Valkyrie, and scatter to hide.  Abandon
your feuds to face the true threat of Rome!

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

This concludes our latest edition of the Catalan Chronicle,
we
hope you've enjoyed reading it. Please do send in your news stories,
thoughts, dreams, ambitions, and reviews, however mendacious, for us all
to enjoy.

Your next deadline is Autumn 03 moves and press, Friday 5 July 2000GMT.

And if you are going to be over in the land of apple pie tomorrow, have a great day.

Russia's Constantinople fleet can retreat to Smyrna, or to the Black Sea. The deadline for these retreats (Summer 03) is also that of your press deadline for the Autumn turns, namely tomorrow -

Wednesday 3 July 2000GMT. Autumn 03 is due Friday 5 July, 2000GMT.

And now we have some press, hot off the telegraph wires, straight from our Barcelona newsdesk!

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

From our Vienna correspondent:

Russia: Going to get you into Bul, then need to focus on Italy.
Germany: How about Mun -> Tyl? I'll share the spoils with you. France doesn't want them obviously.

Turkey: Sorry buddy. Italy's being too much of a pain for me to side with you.
 ---------------------------------------------------------------

Russia to I and A:  Anglo German alliance at hand.  That will produce an
EGT draw, no?  Shouldn't we respond with a AIR alliance.  To make it a
functional AIRF vs. GET?

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

Yo!  What the hell is youse problem
Big Bear?  I's telled youse to leave my good friend Turkey alone, did
youse listen?  Nah youse tink that you is better dan us all.  WELL YOUSE
AIN'T!  Turkey is my buddy and he and I's is gonna kicks you in the
ass!

Hey Aussie Hungry fellow, care to join in the Bear butt kickin'?

I am Italian and I am pissed off!

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

France to all: Won't anyone help me against the mighty england!  Please!!

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

The crazed emperor paced across the floor. Those Damn Turks aren't
moving, letting the pesky Russians box them in. The Austrian is a waste
of time, running in circles, fearing the Italian NAVY of all the jokes!
France is wavering in the fight against England, I fear another armada
coming along. Germany can't decide which direction to turn next. And all
this time, we're stuck sitting on the sidelines, not even playing the
game! Screw this! These leaders are all terrible and if we mobilize NOW,
we'll crush the entire lot of them. Cyprus will Rule the World!

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

I
affrontare.
Grazie, Italia

For those who do not understand the only TRUE language.

My friends,

It seems that the more things change the more they stay the same.  I ask that you Germany aid me in the removal of Austria .  Or at least leave me to it.  Thank you.  I will not help the English or the French against you.  I consider you a friend.  Russia leave Turkey alone, he is weak and getting weaker, Austria is the true threat we all face.

Thank you,
Italy
 ---------------------------------------------------------------

France to A, I and R: Anglo German alliance at hand.  That will produce
an EGT draw, no?  Shouldn't we... um... you respond with a AIR alliance.
To make it a functional AIRF vs. GET?

DC455 Aberration - Winter 1905 - Zoterik   (Jun 30, 2013, 3:56 pm)
It looks to me like we have a bipolar Europe emerging. ??The first bloc that I can see exists largely in the south: ??the SIC nations (Spain, Israel, siCily), either named for their SICkeningly handsome good looks, or for their inability to spell. ??I prefer the latter, and think that "Team [sic]" is a rather catchy name. ??And the second bloc in the north I will simply call "Team ??". ??That's a Greek letter PHi (Poland, Hungary), in case you were curious. ??These gentlemen are clearly mysterious, and probably involved in some shabby dealings, as are most people who identify themselves by a lone character. ??And between them, we have the BUZE nations (Burgundy, Ukraine, byZantium, Eire), for the copious amounts of booze they may soon consume. ??But of course, I'm probably completely wrong and you shouldn't listen to my analyses anyway.

DC456 Imperium - Winter 405 - Zoterik   (Jun 30, 2013, 12:05 pm)
The Franci started strongly, but now face assault from the pesky Saxones and the stalwart Vandali, while the Gothi and Alamanni do battle from the Dnieper to Etna.  All Roman centres have been brought into the dominions of the burgeoning Germanic nations, so the fighting should only get more intense.

Our normal schedule puts the orders due solidly on the 4th of July, which may prove difficult for the Yanks among us.  If everyone gets in their orders marked as FINAL by the 3rd at 23:00 GMT, I'll adjudicate.  Otherwise, the deadline is 5th July at 23:00 GMT.

Influence Phase (1619) - mmedeiros   (Jun 28, 2013, 10:07 pm)
Comments: Heavy-handed diplomatic efforts by the great powers has led to a shift in the European alliance system. Papal States agree not to help Austrian predominance after the French demand the Vatican to cease supporting Austria's military advances through central Europe. Polish government declares neutrality as Protestant and Catholic factions clash internally over Poland's role in the east. Livonia restores its allegiance with Scandinavia. Savoy, a once staunch ally of France, pledges to assists the Spaniards (some say government corruption, others believe it is due to lavish bribes and promises of land grants). The Lower Saxons after months of pressure from the Anglicans finally enter into an alliance with England.

dc458 s03 retreats! - FuzzyLogic   (Jun 27, 2013, 8:59 am)
To Yorkshire and the Black Sea are the retreats...

NEXT is Friday!  July 5, 3pm Central.  I'll be on the road this week, so don't expect confirms from me.  The mail will queue up in my inbox tho, so still send prelims.  Will be driving from Chicago to Spokane, which is about 1800 miles, or for our European friends in this game is about the equivalent of Paris to Istanbul.  Only... I'll be doing it with 4 small kids, so it is really the equivalent of approximately Jupiter to Neptune...

Enjoy!

Wow what a mega-battle in the central oceans... My son would say... epic...

I think it falls to about a 50/50 split... the Archers overtake the Great Glacier, but the Leprechauns hold on to Dimmsdale.  The fleets at sea all clash but none succeed in their ventures... unless of course their venture was to remain where they started, in which case congrats are in order.  The Trolls are eliminated, failing to find refuge in the Rogue city of Ashan -- heavily defended by its Knight occupiers... and the Hobbits?  Man... slammed again they lose 4.

BUILDS!  Due TOMORROW!

Let's please get them ASAP cuz I'm going out of town for a week!  I want to wrap this up so y'all can have year 10 while I'm away...

Archers: Build 1
Elves: Retreat Ggl and Build 3
Gnomes: Retraet LAG and Build 1
Hobbits: Retreat Lin and Remove 3
Leprechauns: Build 3
Magicians: Retreat Abby and Build 1
Trolls: Remove POR

This presumes the Gnomes retreat to Pan... if not, then they get no build for the center-gain and are just even.
