DC191 - Corrected Summer 1905 Map - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

Thanks to a player catch, we find a bug in the RP program. The Swedish fleet in Bolmen should be able to retreat to Vattern. I've corrected the map to reflect this.

Apologies for the error guys. Cheers!

DC191 Study In Baltic - Spring 1905 - The Beryl Co... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)

Subject: DC191 Study In Baltic - Spring 1905 - The Beryl Coronet

The man sat in the compartment as the train lurched north from Konigsberg. A passenger train, it had been converted into a troop transport moving north to reinforce the new territories gained in Russia. Rowdy, boisterous Polish soldiers crowded the aisle - cheering into the passing countryside. The man sat alone, however - none of the enlisted troops venturing into his company. Occasionally one would look in, but invariably they would halt at the door, mutter a quick apology and leave the darkened compartment for the more confined space of the hallway and the cheery presence of their comrades.

If you had asked any of them, they would have told you they didn't know why they wouldn't enter the compartment - with its sole passenger and the beryl coronet beside him... It was just, they would have continued, that the aisleway felt safer...

The man sat in the compartment, thinking about his mission. A personal trip, he was in business for himself this time - although his new employers had provided him with transport and certain necessities. He had heard an old friend was travelling to Finland, leaving the safety and familiarity of his London operations behind him... And now, with this old acquaintance out of his element, it was time to settle a long-festering score.

Mr. Holmes was about to have a debt repaid... with interest.

Heya folks,

Poland continues to make gains, this time securing Bolmen from the Swedish and retaking the key province of Narew from the Russians. The Russian unit there was dislodged, but had only Brest to retreat to so I took the liberty. (Chris, if OTB is preferred then please just let me know.)

Otherwise we can move on into Fall 05. Deadline will be set for Monday, September 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers all!

?DC206? / ACRIMONY - Game Start & Roster! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hello Players and welcome to a standard game of diplomacy!

Diplomaticcorp has designated our game -- well, I'm not sure yet...
likely dc206, and I have titled this game ACRIMONY (acr for short).
I'll serve you as GM... John Mark Ellsworth at
johnmarkellsworth(at)gmail.com.

Here are the players and their nations:
Austria: greg / Greg Surname / gregsurname(at)gmail.com
England: TheSki / Andrew Clarke / a_c_2bcool(at)hotmail.com
France: Oden / Daniel Sloane / eagles_fan_07(at)comcast.net
Germany: Samnuva / Sam Buck / Samuel_Buck(at)dalton.org
Italy: Brutus / Kevin Burt / kjb(at)wbhsi.net
Russia: deathblade_penguin / Stephen Lytton / stevelytton(at)hotmail.com
Turkey: jyan / Jyri Syrja / jyjusy(at)hotmail.com

One of the things I like most about diplomaticcorp is the ability to "do
your homework." I am a history teacher by trade, and I find history a
good subject for almost any activity. But I think it is especially
important to know the history of your opponents. I encourage you to
investigate what other players have done on the site and whether any
have played together before (or are playing together currently). There
is a lot of information on diplomaticcorp about the players... use it.
Information is power, especially in diplomacy.

First deadline (Spring 1901 orders) is Wednesday, September 3rd at 9:30
pm. Please have your orders in by then. SEND PRELIMINARY ORDERS!
DO SO EVERY TURN! It just makes life easier for me and insures you
have submitted orders. In emails to me about the game, please be sure
to at least put dc206 (I think) or acr as the first thing in your subject line.

Please be sure to familiarize yourself with my house rules at
http://diplomacy.ellsworthlink.net/jmehouserules.html. I added a little
more to proxy orders... saying all proxy designations must meet my
approval.

My initial thoughts about the pace of the game are five days / one week
for spring and fall orders. Any retreats or builds will likely result
in a two day deadline. I will be sticking with the 9:30 pm deadline
time so I can do a little diplomacy before heading off to bed.

GOOD LUCK!

=)
John

ACRIMONY / DC206 - Second Welcome! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hello Players and welcome to a standard game of diplomacy!

Alrighty... I believe everything is up and running... so time for a
second welcome. You are playing in dc206 / acrimony... enjoy! I'll
serve you as GM... John Mark Ellsworth at johnmarkellsworth(at)gmail.com.

Again, here are the players and their nations:
Austria: greg / Greg Surname / gregsurname(at)gmail.com
England: TheSki / Andrew Clarke / a_c_2bcool(at)hotmail.com
France: Oden / Daniel Sloane / eagles_fan_07(at)comcast.net
Germany: Samnuva / Sam Buck / Samuel_Buck(at)dalton.org
Italy: Brutus / Kevin Burt / kjb(at)wbhsi.net
Russia: deathblade_penguin / Stephen Lytton / stevelytton(at)hotmail.com
Turkey: jyan / Jyri Syrja / jyjusy(at)hotmail.com

First deadline (Spring 1901 orders) is Wednesday, September 3rd at 9:30
pm. Please have your orders in by then. SEND PRELIMINARY ORDERS! DO
SO EVERY TURN! (I already have three prelims... thanks.) It just
makes life easier for me and insures you have submitted orders. In
emails to me about the game, please be sure to at least put dc206 or acr
as the first thing in your subject line.

Our game page is http://www.diplomaticcorp.com?game_id=dc206. This is
where you can find all information about this game! All adjudications
are posted here as well.

Our game forum is
http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=103, and this forum
is just for our game. I believe you have all been subscribed to it by
default... this means any time somebody posts to it, you should get that
cc'd to your email inbox, so you are aware there is a new post. I will
also copy all adjudications to the forum, which means you should receive
adjudications twice - once from me, and once from the forum. This
ensures you are receiving it from two sources automatically, and have
little to no chance that an outgoing mail won't reach you. You can post
to the forum by visiting the site or by emailing to
dc206(at)diplomaticcorp.com. Any mail you send to this list will go to all
seven players and myself.

Again, please be sure to familiarize yourself with my house rules at
http://diplomacy.ellsworthlink.net/jmehouserules.html. I added a little
more to proxy orders... saying all proxy designations must meet my
approval.

GOOD LUCK!

=)

DC 164 - Arctic Warriors - On Hold - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Press From Italy:
Italy has had a terrible earthquake? All the glass in Modena has shattered, and the Italian government has unwisely diverted all its military funding to repair its treasures. This means it will no longer be able to participate in international war. Italy sends its regrets to France and Britain re: Germany, but really must concentrate on its internal affairs at this time.

Italy has resigned from the game.
I am putting the game out for recruiting.
It should not take long as the position is not bad.

First things first: thank you to Rupak for taking over the German position.

The frenzy in the North Sea should have a GM shaking. Thankfully, I've
got RealPolitik to figure out all those convoys and moves for me. This
nice, friendly game that started has certainly given way to something
more aggressive.

We've got three retreats (Austria, England, and France). The deadline
will be noon on Sunday, 31 August. I'll assume that any orders received
are final, so as soon as I've got all three orders I'll adjudicate.

dc187 spring 03 results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
There you go - I praise RealPolitik for resolving the moves around the
North Sea and within minutes it's pointed out to me that the result
might be wrong and that the English fleet should have been dislodged. I
have to agree, when using my brain rather than my mouse, the supported
Germany does seem to have succeeded.

Give me until tomorrow to print everything out, resend the results (as
they are, or altered), and reset the deadline.

Hamish Williams wrote:

First things first: thank you to Rupak for taking over the German
position.

The frenzy in the North Sea should have a GM shaking. Thankfully,
I've got RealPolitik to figure out all those convoys and moves for
me. This nice, friendly game that started has certainly given way to
something more aggressive.

We've got three retreats (Austria, England, and France). The deadline
will be noon on Sunday, 31 August. I'll assume that any orders
received are final, so as soon as I've got all three orders I'll
adjudicate.
