Heya guys,

One final note to put the finishing touch on DC-135. England wished to change their retreat from Ukraine to Rumania. This adds a center to the English SC count, upping them to 19. In addition, it ties Turkey with France for second place at 6 centers apiece.

Just whispers of a game gone by in the night. Cheers everyone!

GGS 1264 / DC110 - Spring 1877 Reminder - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
There's an eastern saying that says 'When sitting on fence, watch for slivers in bad spots. When sitting in Imperial game, make sure to send orders in.'

Okay, actually that's just plain BS - but the thought is sound. Git your orders on in here for Spring 1877 - there's 44 hours and counting till the deadline.

Cheers!

DC172 - Spring 1607 Correction - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hey folks,

As promised, please find attached the revised RP file and map showing the Spanish order for the Tyrrhenian Sea fleet. Apologies once again for the error. The Summer 1607 deadline will be revised to allow time for Russia to submit their retreat. Deadline for this, as well as any votes for the French/Spanish/Danish 3-way draw, will be set for Monday, September 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

solo - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Thank guys I really appreciate both of your responses. Former Trout you are indeed right to bring me down from my little cloud, because all solos are by definition (as I understand it, after just games) the perfect victory. Anyway, thanks for the Germany victory story with 12 centers, now that is truly impressive.

Poobaloo, thanks for these stats, it's really what I was after. And thanks for the praises and warning. I'll try and rise to the occasion by achieving more solos! lol

DC-184 Deadline Reminder - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Folks,
The deadline for Spring 1904 is tomorrow at 2pm EST. However, since I'm the luckiest GM in the world (interpret as: I have at least prelims from everyone,) and due to my strange work schedule, I intend to adjudicate tomorrow morning when I get off work. That's roughly 24 hours from now.
So . . . If you intend to change your orders, or you have any last minute negotiating to do, please get it done quickly.
The reason for this is that, if I don't adjudicate tomorrow morning, I won't be able to get to it until late tomorrow night. I'd rather not delay the game at all, if possible, so that's not a good option (in my opinion.)
If I receive any emails indicating the slightest bit of discontent about this decision, I will of course hold off until the previously announced deadline.

Thanks all,
The White Wolf

Norse press.
To all. Are we going to jockey for position or just get the game over? Or for a laugh, how about setting up a convoy of A HOR all the way around the Isles and back to HOR... Smile F ENG would allow this from next turn.

To Scots. Will hold back and allow you to concentrate on defending against Welsh.
To Britons. If <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comSurprisedffice:smarttags" />Wales and Angles continue to support each other and gobble up whole of mainland then you are going to have to make a choice of landing on them or hoping that all those Welsh fleets go north and allow you to keep whatever you took in Ireland. And if they go north then I guess I will be supporting Scots fully so they get nowhere that way. And THA should be Danish as this is the best way of keeping Angles honest.
To Danes. What do you need?
To Danes, Scots and Picts. Need to decide if you want the Pict to stay alive this turn. Only way of doing this is for FIR to BOR and ARG to AYR. Not in any of your interests for the Anglo-Welsh alliance to get into LOT. LOT couls support either of the the other 2 moves and that will put them on a defensive guessing game.

Angles, I'll keep moving WIL-SUS, and supporting A BOR-LOT (even if you support LOT, unless you tell me I'm wasting my time). The Norse are moving on the Scots, so I don't think you have much to worry about from the Danes.

Irish, you've made things hard for me, but I'll do my best. Ordering DUB-CON would help.

Britons, it all looks good.

Wales.

Wales: Didn't expect you to bounce in SUS, still don't understand why you did. It's all yours this year and it will accomplish essentially the same goal. Will look for your support for my BOR - LOT, I think that's the way to go if this game continues. Depends on how the Danes play it though (see below).

Britons: Thanks for your support. Let me know if you need me for anything.

Danes: Are you saying that you'll attack the Norse if I give you LOT? Is that what you mean by 'the far north'? If I'm going to give you LOT then we should be clear. So let me know, because I'd be happy to make that agreement. I'd much rather cooperate then duke it out over LOT and FIR.

DC135 Fear And Loathing - One Final Loathe, No Mor... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hey Everyone

Thank for a very enjoyable game and for keeping me involved. Right from the point I took over as the Austrian leader the situation was grim and I could never get my feet planted but I guess I must have done something right to make myself more useful than to be eliminated. Congratulations Jorge on the solo, I think we all knew it was inevitable, Ian had a plan to force a draw but I made a mistake and we lost our chance to get that set up. Sorry Ian.

A special thank you to Trout for a game well run, we always appreciate the effort put in by the Gm's that make these gaming experiences possible.

Thank Again

Andy

DC191 - Fall 05 Deadline Reminder - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

Just a reminder that Fall 05 orders are due in approximately 11 hours. I do not currently have all sets in hand.

Secondly, the question has come up regarding the Swedish fleet retreat to Vattern last round. The variant rules are somewhat vague concerning the fleet movements through land provinces. They mention that Bolmen has two coasts - but do not mention where the dividing line between the east coast and west coast portions of the province are.

In a GM judgement call, I placed that line halfway through the province - basically from the southern tip of Vattern Lake down. This splits the province roughly equally in two and allows fleet movement from the Bolmen west coast to Vattern.

Alternatively, the dividing line could have been placed from the Bolmen/Goteborg border down to the Bolmen/Malmo border. This would prevent movement from Bolmen(wc) to Vattern.

With no guidance from the variant rules (and the omission of discussion about the subject does NOT count as guidance) I have decided to stick with the judgement call I originally made - [u:f0028f05d6]allowing movement between Bolmen(wc) to Vattern.[/u:f0028f05d6] This is definitely a flaw in the variant rules and I'd look forward to hearing the player opinions concerning this detail in their EOG statements. It is a detail I should have specified at the start of the game, and for that failure I do apologize.

Cheers folks,

Trout

DC173 - Winter 02 and Check-In Deadline Reminder - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

Just sending a gentle nudge that the Winter 1902 deadline is in less than 19.5 hours away. Also - I have not yet heard from a couple of players... Even if you do not have adjustments due, I'd still like you to drop me a line to let me know you're still around please.

I'm assuming that everyone will check in and get their orders in. However, in the awkward case that this does not happen, here is what I will do:

1. In the case of missing orders, as it is a non-major season I will allow the NMRs. Any country failing to turn in their adjustments will either wave their builds or under-go auto-disband accordingly. We will then move into the Spring 1903 turn.

2. I will not slow down the game if players have failed to check in with me by the deadline. However, I will begin to seek out a replacement and the player in question will have until Friday night to get in touch. Failing that, I will rope in a replacement, announce it to the group and the game will proceed.

Since I'm positive everyone will drop me a line, the above two points are moot and for information only.. =P

Cheers everybody!

Fellow diplomats, Mike

I am going to attend a conference & fair (Telemanagement World in Nice/France) all of next week (Sunday through Thursday) and will need Friday to catch up with work back home in Germany.

Maybe (!) I can spare some time inbetween to sent an occasional mail, but definitely not more. Could move the deadline one week ahead (Wed, 28 Mai 0Cool ?

dc130 ~ Imperial1840 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
I’ll vote yes, only cuz I’m extremely swamped in life at the moment.  Not to say all the life has been sucked out of this game, I rather think it’s got some kick to it yet… including the reclamation of my home centers, and planned redecoration of the ice palaces of eastern Siberia.  But it would be tedious, and I’d have to work with Trout for umpteen more years.  So I’ll leave it to the others to decide yay/nay.  Smile

Well, it just wouldn't be Imperial1840 without a correction to the .map file! A new file, dated May 14th, is available at: http://mainecav.org/diplomacy/Imperial1840
This corrects a missing connection between SKA & NWG.
