DC 134 - WOT - Fall 1005 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The Trolloc attacks and the work of Darkfriends have thrown all nations into a Panic!
Armies blunder around and many wait to support forces that never attack.
Arafel lies in Ruins as the Borderlands sit nearly parilized, and the Seafolk have landed an army on the mainland at last.
The Arafel garrison can only retreat to Kandor, so I have ordered that move. (Ward, let me know if you would prefer to OTB).
Winter 1005 build orders due Monday, May 26th. I will be away from Friday through Monday so will not get reminders out, but will also not adjudicate until tuesday morning.

DC173 - A New Flapjack Supremo - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi folks,

With regrets, I've had to seek out a replacement for the Italian position in the game. With no response from Chris I had little choice. Please welcome our new Italian Supremo, Flapjack... (Jack McHugh.) His email address is jwmchughjr(at)gmail.com (jwmchughjr(at)gmail.com)

Jacks been good enough to step into the game - as it sits the Thursday (11:59 PM) deadline still stands for Spring 1903 orders. However, pending request from Jack, I may push that back one or two days. Please operate under the principle of getting orders in by Thursday however.

Cheers everyone. Play on!

DC177 - Let this be a warning for everyone... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Ah, yes, the Russians have returned.

Trust me Tzar, what I do, I do for the Russian people. I have thought long and hard about what you said concerning the "rougue" fleet commander in SEV that first year. And while I believe you it was someone acting against your orders, I began to think, what kind of leader is it that a officer would disobey a direct order? Surely not a single military commander under my control wouldn't DARE go against my orders. Clearly the Russian people deserve a more forceful leader. One who doesn't shirk his command, and go on vacation while at war! Sedar Turkmenbashi is currently on vacation in Florida... er ... that's in south Turkey, but I am still fully in control of my military machine. As you can well see.

To my fellow leaders of Europe. The Russian leader seeks to destroy Europe and attack his neighbors. If we do not strike back, those of you on the other side of the continent will soon be in danger if he is not stopped. To Arms, To Arms!

Serdar Turkmenbashi
(aka- Joe)

----- Original Message ----
Yes, the Tzar has returned.

Only to find that his trust has been betrayed by some of his former
allies who have taken the opportunity of his absence to plot against
Russia. Worse, these deceitful Powers did not keep their promises,
made as men of honour, but instead launched attacks against the
Russian Liberator.
Let this be a warning for everyone who dares to entrust Powers like
these with their plans and think they might honour their agreements.

Shame on you, Serdar Turkmenbashi of Turkey, who I regarded as my
brother, to break our agreement not just once but twice.
Shame on you, Kevin of Italy, who I helped to get a share of former
Austria-Hungary, only to be backstabbed in return.

The Tzar.

Worldwide Diplomacy quesetions - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The page for that is not very informative. I have a couple of questions

Are all the provinces supply centers?

One of the two rules talks about artilleries denying straights to fleets but there are no rules about what artilleries are or what they do or how you get them.

Am I missing something?

The colored provinces are the supply centers... the white ones are not.

And artilleries are just the regular land units (as in A Greece).

I am a greenhorn at this, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I have just joined the "Worldwide" variant, and there don't appear to be any supply centers (SCs) marked on the map. Am I missing something? This site is completely wonderful, incidently.

SC's for this map are the colored areas. When the game starts they'll all get dots.

DC140 "Never Ending Story" fall 1908 res... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Russia once again makes big gains, swarming further into Italian homelands, and even taking a shot at France. After numerous previous attempts, England finally gains MAO, but France hangs on to Liverpool. Turkey and Italy continue to slug it out in the Balkans, but Turkey wins this round of the fight by gaining control of Naples. All of the Italian home centers are now under foreign occupation.

There is one autumn retreat due. The French army in Burgundy may retreat to Gascony, Paris, Picardy, or OTB.

Winter 1908 adjustments will be as follows:
France build 1 or 2, depending on retreat
Italy remove 2
Russia build 2
Turkey build 2

Both the autumn retreat and winter adjustments will be due Thursday 5/22 at 3pm Central (US). Thanks!

Cory

*** Please check the orders below. Although I checked it thrice now, mistakes like earlier may always slip in ***

Spring 1903: Chaos rules!

Double the amount of time was available for planning and diploming.
Are the results a reflection of the extra time available? And if so, was it worth it?
Maybe, but one thing is sure:
** IT COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE ANY MESSIER THAN THIS **

The only Power that saw all its orders succeed was Turkey. But not so sure whether that will make it any happier.
Most of the units don't move at all as a result.

Dc169 Final Map for Posterity - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dc169ers

Turkey (Lola) has asked if she can have the moves from spring 1908 just to see for curiosuty sake what might have happened in spring, with a view to looking at fall...

I. myself, am often curious about the what if for a game... so if there is no objections, I'll run the spring 1908 moves and send the map to Lola (and anyone else who requests) for curiousity

(Note - this does not affect the game stats of Dc169 at all).

If anyone objects to their final set of moves being revealed, please let me know in the next day or so.

The Austrian Emperor has decided to retreat its fleet to Albania.
The Turkish army was so kind to accompany it until it had left Greece.
Some say they were waving the Austrian fleet goodbye; others said the gestures made by the Turks may have had a different meaning...

Deadline for Fall 1903 is set for Tuesday May 27, 23.00 GMT. Or once all orders have been received marked as Final.

dc145 German EGS - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Well I guess I’ll pipe up here and post an EGS since nobody else is…

Looking for something positive to take from this game, I guess we have too look at Russia’s creative words… my favorites being “yeah I agreed to a dmz, but I didn’t agree I wouldn’t go there” and “it wasn’t a lie, it was a betrayal”. Those were good for a laugh, but overall the game got pretty slow at the end, and so I voted yes just to see if anyone else wanted to play it out. Yuri, I’m surprised you voted yes. You had this game wrapped up with a solo on it… Russia would never have backed down from Berlin, and so my units were totally tied up. I’m really surprised you didn’t try for it – I counted it many times, it was there. And Arne, I couldn’t be more disappointed to spend all game fighting for your survival, only to have you turn on me and give in to Russia like he’d tried to get me to eliminate you all game. Then the fact that you not only wanted to be in the draw, but specifically to exclude me from it was … well I’ll probly never understand this play.

Hopefully we’ll play again sometime, and as always I’ll watch for the chance to get in Christine’s games cuz she’s one of the best GM’s around.
Enjoy,
-mike

DC176 - Summer 1903 Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
On behalf of the Ottoman soldiers present in the harbor of Athens last night, I will inform you all that these men were wielding their hands only in order to resist hordes of mosquitoes, which have been a true menace in the previous weeks.

I can only speculate, but perhaps that Austrian fleet brought them with it. They better not be carrying some sort of disease. Ottoman medicine might be the best in the world, but our crown jewel hospital in Smyrna seems to be occupied by sick people already.

Regards,

Agha Ahmed Niyazi,
Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces in Greece

The Austrian Emperor has decided to retreat its fleet to Albania.
The Turkish army was so kind to accompany it until it had left Greece.
Some say they were waving the Austrian fleet goodbye; others said the gestures made by the Turks may have had a different meaning...

Deadline for Fall 1903 is set for Tuesday May 27, 23.00 GMT. Or once all orders have been received marked as Final.
Prelims are welcome anytime.
