Dc142 Spring 1908 is due Tuesday 6th May, at 5pm, Australian EST.

I did not get moves from Italy so I will move the deadline to when i return from camp.

There is about a 12 hour window for Italy to get moves in for me to run the turn before i leave. if not.. the deadline will stand at next Tuesday.

dc163 Fall 1903 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
After a long delay... I still have not received orders from two of our players. The due date has long come and gone.

So without moves for Austria and Italy here are the results for the Fall of 1903.

The leaderless Austrian armies are pushed further south.
England finishes the conquest of the lowlands and pushes into Germany.
France invades Italy while losing ground in northwest Europe.
Germany continues to lose ground to the English forces.
Italy forces, confused and scattered, lose a homeland center.
Russian forces remain strong.
Turkey maintains their position.

Winter 1903 builds/removes due Friday 2nd of May by 6pm EST.

I retreated the French unit to the Ruhr (its only option). If you wish to disband it instead, let me know.

I need two builds for England and one for Russia. Germany and Italy needs to order a disband. (Default removes will be: A Prussia and F Aegean Sea).

Make your plans accordingly. If a player gets two NMRs in consecutive season (not to include winter), I will look to replace them, or let them go into Civil Disorder.

Austria and Italy, please let me know if there is some issues.

DC170 fall 1906 addendum - endgame proposals! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
In my rush to get the results out last night, I forgot to include a very important matter: we have our first endgame proposals!

There are no fewer than four separate proposals for you to vote on:
* 2-way draw for Austria and Turkey
* 2-way draw for England and Germany
* 4-way draw among Austria, England, Germany, and Turkey
* 5-way draw among all our remaining powers (DIAS): Austria, England, France, Germany, and Turkey

Please cast your vote on each of these proposals separately. Your votes will be due at the same time as the fall 1906 deadline, Thursday 5/1 at 3pm Pacific. Don't forget to send in fall 1906 orders as well, in case none of the endgame proposals succeeds. Thanks!

Cory

DC140 fall 1907 press broadcast - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
As GM, I rarely receive requests to send out press to everyone, but I have indeed received such a message. Remember that I am filling the role of Western Union (or at least an equivalent European telegraph service from 1907), so please keep in mind that this message below does not express my views, only those of the sender.

Cory

-----

"Great powers,

The collosus of the East has started its march and will stop at nothing until its goal is reached. Witness the white armies sweaping through europe. Once his occupation of Germany is complete, YOU, crippled by constant war with your neighbour will be unable to break his deadlock. Munich is the territory that is vital to contain Russia, for once its capture is achieved, retaking it will be no small task.
It has saddened me to be forced into defending myself from my former ally England, and it has been also devastating to see two other friends Turkey and Italy escalate into open conflict. While my military strength is lacking in comparison to all of you, I still consider myself able to help our situation through diplomatie. Diplomatie is the name of this game. I therefore wish to publicly forgive England for its past aggressions, sparked by Austrian and Russian poison, and lend them Germany's hand in sign of friendship. It is time for us to unite and stop the petty war that will ultimately result in Russian victory.
Germany is crumbling under Russian aggression, and I call on to YOU all, not for sympathy, but so that we can stop Russia. NO ONE IS SAFE from his gamble, so let us combine our forces in order to stop his march.

Germany"

DC168: WBR2 Spring/Summer 06 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Mon. President,

We had previously ordered the navy to remove Our fleet from your territory but
Our military attache failed to make Us aware of the fact that Our order had
been acted upon so swiftly, hence the strange dispatch which reached your ears
from Us.

We are not presently minded to offer The Admiralty any criticism regarding this
incident since they merely carried out Our earlier instructions. You may,
however, rest assured of Our continuing friendship.

Edvard.VII, Rex.

Quoting Nicholas Mercier <holyyakker(at)gmail.com>:

Dear England,

You have no fleets in my country and I would greatly appreciate it if you
would stop trying to tell my fleets what to do.

New Player Needs Help - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hello everyone, i have just joined the site. I have never played diplomacy before, but i love the idea. I am a big fan of nomics, quo vadis, and other political/negotiation games (I would almost include risk in that category). I have read articles and descriptions of the game, and I believe I understand the basic rules. I don't want to to just jump in to a game and screw things up. What should I do? Is the there something i should read?

DC140 "Never Ending Story" fall 1907 res... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Fall 1907 arrives, and we find that the German press goes for naught, as England and Russia send the Kaiser into exile. Thank you for playing through to the end, Nick.

France sails into the English Channel, and in an interesting twist, England's attempt to sail past the French navy into MAO is bounced by Italy. In the east, Italy and Turkey re-trade Serbia and Greece. While those two fight over the southern Balkans, Russia gains control of Trieste and pushes an army into Tyrolia.

There are a few dislodged units. Both German units are forced to retreat, but they would be automatically removed in the winter anyway. Italy's army in Greece has no valid retreats and is destroyed. The Turkish army in Serbia has only one valid retreat, to Rumania. Davitchenko, to keep the game moving, I will order that retreat now -- if you want to retreat OTB instead, please let me know.

Winter 1907 adjustments will be as follows:
England build 1
France build 1 (a build was waived in 1906)
Russia build 2
Turkey even (build 1 if retreat is changed to OTB)

The winter 1907 adjustment orders will be due Thursday 5/1 at 3pm Central (US). Thanks!

Cory

DC140 "Never Ending Story" fall 1907 res... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear players,

Germany was defeated, and although I am out of the game, I am interested in seing how it will unfold. I would like to congratulate you all on your styles of play and on your strategies. I found especially Russia and England to be more than challenging adversaries, eventually being able to completely destroy me. No hard feelings there, you both played very well, and deserve your victory against me.

Although I had numerous allies, one particularly stood out. Kyle, I wish to thank you for your ongoing support. I felt our relationship in this game evolved from a simple alliance, to one of friendship. The rarity of such relationship in this game made it so much more enjoyable.

As for the others, I had fun playing with you and wish you the best.

DC176 - Spring 1902 Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear Rulers,

allow me to give you a short impression of Spring 1902:
- England and Russia had a little quarrel over St Petersburg. Of course, it is a beautiful place to visit in Spring.
Russia also seemed to have some mixup with Italy and Turkey. Opportunities for interpreters of these languages?
- France apparently decided that there is no place like home and returned en-masse to its terra patria.
- Austria gently but firmly made Russia to understand that the feeling of coziness in sharing Vienna was not mutual.
- The Italian army did not see any reason to move whereas its navy did not see any reason to stay.
- Turkey felt it was somewhat constrained and decided it would need more space.
- Germany was in an excellent mood and decided to pay a visit to its neighbouring locations.

These are the orders that were given for Spring 1902:

Austria:
A Budapest Supports A Trieste - Vienna
F Greece - Bulgaria(sc) (*Bounce*)
A Serbia - Trieste
A Trieste - Vienna

England:
F London - North Sea
F North Sea - Skagerrak
F Norway - St Petersburg(nc) (*Bounce*)
A Yorkshire - London

France:
F Brest Hold
A Burgundy - Paris
F Marseilles Hold
F Portugal Hold
A Spain - Gascony

Germany:
A Berlin - Prussia
F Denmark Supports F Gulf of Bothnia - Sweden
A Holland - Belgium
A Kiel - Munich
A Munich - Silesia

Italy:
F Ionian Sea - Aegean Sea
F Naples - Ionian Sea
A Tunis Hold
A Venice Hold

Russia:
F Gulf of Bothnia - Sweden
A Moscow - St Petersburg (*Bounce*)
A Rumania Supports A Bulgaria - Serbia (*Void*)
F Sevastopol Supports A Rumania
A Vienna Supports A Venice - Trieste (*Dislodged*)
A Warsaw - Galicia

Turkey:
F Black Sea Supports A Bulgaria - Rumania
A Bulgaria - Rumania (*Fails*)
A Constantinople - Bulgaria (*Bounce*)
F Smyrna - Eastern Mediterranean

With these moves we're at Summer 1902.
Since Austria was so adamant about Vienna, the local Russian army needs to find itself another location.

*** Russian retreat is due by Wednesday April 30, 23.00 GMT. ***

DC141 Seven Sinners - Fall 1906 - The Hidden Chamb... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

Have to apologize for letting this adjudication slip a day. Lost track of it to tell the truth - however despite the extra time we still have a no-show from our White Cossack friend. I don't usually allow NMR's on major seasons in my games - but since this was originally Alex's then we'll go by his default house rules. Russia is awarded an NMR - but as he is the only power gaining a build from this fairly bloodless season then I don't think it hurt him that badly..

No retreats are required - and as I stated there is only one build needed. Deadline for Winter 1906 adjustments will be set for Thursday, May 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

Gents,

I have no idea why RealPolitik quirked like that. However, for whatever reason it didn't count the English occupation of Kiel. Counting Kiel, England gains a build as well. Apologies for any confusion there - the updated results are below.

Cheers,

DC172 Midsummer Nights Stab - Spring 1602 - The Ra... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The old bees die, the young possess their hive.

But of course, the old bees sometimes tell the young to buzz off.... *really bad joke grin*

France and the Holy Roman Empire trade blows in the west while Sweden sticks a spoke into Russia's wheel in the East. Meanwhile, the beleagured Poles continue to find themselves under siege.

Four retreats are required after the Spring moves - one each from the French, the Spanish, the Poles and the Russians. Deadline for Summer 1602 will be set for Thursday, May 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

Just let me know if you spot any goofs on my part. Cheers!
