Russian Press Conference - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Remember the Vienna Operahouse!

(Doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it...)

This Summer 1902...a season which will live in infamy...the Combined English / German Military Machine callously and deliberately attacked the peace-keeping forces of Mother Russia. Indeed we were in conversation with those nations only hours before the brutal attack and while future negotiations seemed fruitless there was no indication or declaration of War. Last fall, German forces attacked Silesia, Last fall German Forces attacked Prussia, This spring German forces attacked Warsaw. This spring English forces attacked St. Petersburg. Very many Russian lives were lost.

Hostilities exist! There can be no blinking at it. But the Russian people, in their righteous might, shall defend their mother land no matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, and ensure an attack of such character shall never happen again. We will prevail against the Germans and English with the unbound determination of our people ...to absolute victory!

DC176 - Winter 1902 adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
All builds and disbands have been confirmed.

Russia decided to disband its fleet in Sevastopol, whereas Germany exchanged the Fleet it disbanded in Denmark for an army in Munich.
Meanwhile the naval industry in England had been working overtime to meet the demand for 2 new warships, eh, commercial vessels.
And Italy has strengthened its north with an army in Venice.

Spring 1903 orders are not due until Tuesday May 20 as we skip a week because of my absence.
Happy diploming in the meantime!

DC129 In Rainbows - END GAME - The Bends - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Where do we go from here?
The planet is a gunboat in a sea of fear ...

Gentle-folk of In Rainbows - we have an END-GAME Result! I'd like to congratulate Ari, Jake and Kevin for their successful inclusion in the 3-way English/Russian/Turkish draw. Nice work, guys!

And congratulations also to Jerry and Ricardo for their lasting out and surviving the onslaught. My thanks to all the players in this epic battle. =)

As the vote takes place before the Fall 1910 turn, the game will officially end with the Spring 1910 turn. EOG (end-of-game) statements from all of you are greatly encouraged - and I hope to see you all in the next game.

Cheers everyone! Once again, congratulations to our three draw participants and my thanks to all other players in the game.

I have their Winter build: So if you could all send me your Winter build orders no later than next Monday 3pm GMT, I'd be most grateful. There will then be a gap until the Spring 1899 movement orders deadline. I shall pencil this in as Tuesday 20th May at 3pm GMT

Sorry about this - especially as it should be the point that we can race through a little more swiftly - of course if I DO receive orders from all players marked as final before that deadline, then I shall adjudicate immediately.

Please always send prelims as a matter of courtesy.

Kind regards

Jerry,

I called it as the players voted. Of all the proposals on the table, the only one to have unanimous consent was the 3-way E/R/T draw. One or more people voted against the 4-way.

An English Response. - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Mothers and Sisters of Russia!

The English are only here to restore order. Your government has left your fathers, sons and brothers out to die. Instead of recalling them home to protect against the German aggression, your government has striped your southern fleet, which once protected you from the Infidels to the south, to feed its thirst for random attacks and bloodshed. St. Petersburg is now safe from these barbaric practices. Ask your northern relatives how the food stocks now flow abundantly into the markets. Do not hate the northern protectors of your relatives, we are only providing the best for them.

Sincerely,
The English Department of Russian Relations

dc129 - EOG Statement - Turkey - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Well, I just came into this game so I will look forward to seeing how the game formed into the shape that I found it in.
Thanks to Trout for running the game.

My perspective of the game is that England was the controlling partner in the West and that R/T shared power in the east. I may have had the center count advantage at the end of the game, but the line was formed with Russian might in the north.

Good game Ari and Jake. Jerry, congrats on surviving. I voted for all the draws this time, and would have liked you included, but I'm guessing others wanted you dead.

Look forward to playing against y'all again.

dc129 - EOG Statement - Germany - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
I'm ALIVE!!

I was a replacement in this game and walked into a Germany no one wanted, until I was a convenient way for England to foil Russia, then Russia/Turkey to foil England/France, etc, etc.

As a result, until the end, I got little from anyone and fully expected to get wiped off the map like crumbs off the counter, but since I work cheap, I was kept on, and here at the final tally - I'm alive, which is far better than the last couple of games I was a replacement in.

Thanks Trout for running a smooth game.

dc179 Blackmarch W01 Builds and TIMELINE CHANGE - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
All,
{sigh}. Your GM has had to make a tough decision. I deliberated and got a second opinion and finally came to this decision. This decision affects our timeline and our current round.

Situation - France submitted a build order; however, I never received it AND he had no confirmation email from me stating such. According to the strictest letter of the law, it is the
PLAYER'S responsibility to ensure that I have received their orders and that they have confirmation. In fact, I have received more than one email from at least one of you when you
had yet to receive my confirmation. The question here is whether or not to allow the build that France showed me in the email that he forwarded me. In Steven's defense, I should have
probably sent him an email with a grace period stating that I had not received his build and I failed to do so. Based on the build AND the situation of the game, I feel like this was not
an attempt to beat the game but rather just an unfortunate event.

AS SUCH, I am going to allow the build [F in Mar] for W01. Several factors were weighed, not least amongst which were the timing in the game [I would NOT have allowed it later in a game
most likely because the impact would probably have been MUCH greater]. This decision is final! Hopefully all concur that I am trying to do what is the right thing for the spirit of the game.

Where that leaves us is in a bit of a delay. Today was the day for our S02 deadline. Given the new news, that is not a timeline that we need to keep. Instead, let's push our deadline for S02
back until Monday May 12th at 5pm CST.

GIVEN THIS EXAMPLE, PLEASE remember that orders are not complete until CONFIRMED by me. I do my best to confirm at least every few days. In cases where I cannot [due to travel], I will
do my best to let you know that confirmations will be slow. IF you do not have confirmed orders, you should send them again AND copy to orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com (orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com). That is a mailbox from
which orders can be retrieved later if there is any question/concern. To keep this mailbox from becoming overloaded, please ONLY do this when you feel the need to send a second set because
you don't have confirmation. I cannot stress enough that ensuring that orders are received IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PLAYER!

That said, I may not be able to confirm orders Friday or Saturday. Sunday confirmation will be late in the day. Thus I set the Monday deadline so that you can be sure that you received confirmations.

I apologize for our detour here but I do feel that this is the right thing to do AND is the right thing for the spirit of the game.

LotM

EVERYONE wants Munich but Germany holds true.
Russia and Turkey seem to be on the same page...in the wrong way!
Bounces abound, most by Russia and Turkey.
AND France foregoes a guaranteed build in Por to gain entry into the
Med.
An interesting 1902 awaits! Too early to see what alliances hold.

Ah...once again a misorder [this time outlined in the orders below]. As previously committed, builds are due Monday, May 5th at 5pm CST. No retreats are required.

Point of inquiry - what should be our next deadline beyond that? I will be out of town Friday 9th to Sunday 11th. Should we hold orders for Spring 1902 until Sunday OR try to fit in orders by Thursday 5pm on the 8th? Majority rules. In light of votes, we will default to the LATER deadline to make sure that all get a proper chance to play the game.

DC 164 - Arctic Warriors - Fall 1903 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The Archduke has made his second NMR, and is out.
I will take a vote on whether you prefer to wait for a replacement or CD him.
Normally I would wait, but as this turn reasults in Austria's reduction to only 2 SCs, I will go with the Majority vote.
Please have your response in by Noon on Saturday, May 10th. Non responses will be counted as a vote to wait for a Replacement.

The only retreats necessary are Austrian, and both have only one option, so I have ordered both:
F Greece - Albania
A Sevastopol - Ukraine

Build Orders will be Due (assuming a CD vote) on Tuesday, May 13th (at) 9pm

Austria, remove 2
Germany Build 1
Italy build 2
Russia Build 1
Turkey build 1
