DC183 Spring 1901 moves - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
And the first moves are in...thanks all for submitting moves!!
In the West, France forces her way into Burgundy, but has the English sneak into the English Channel. Meanwhile, Germany cautiously holds in Berlin...
In the East, Austria finds herself with two Italians and a Russian at her borders, whilst, unusually, no attempt is made to take the Black sea...
Attached are a Realpolitick file of the current status, and gifs of the Spring orders and Spring resolution. Appended below are the text of the orders and unit locations.
As there's no retreats needed, we move directly to the Fall 1901 turn. To keep the game moving at a reasonable pace, the Fall 1901 deadline will be 2000 GMT on Friday 16th May.

Subject: dc185 - Clash of the Titans - Game Start!
Greetings! This game shall henceforth be known as dc185, Clash of the Titans!
Please include either dc185, or COT in any mails to me about the game. Also include your country and season.
475 BC. Classical Greece, when Democracies were formed, and the Parthenon was built… For a concise summary of recent events leading up to the powers that are on this map, see: http://www.conservapedia.com/Greco-Persian_Wars
A brief note on prelims – I push these every game! It is the best habit you can get into, send prelims once you get your results, so you don’t have to worry about sending them in last minute. You can always revise your orders later in the week as often as you like. I will confirm orders usually very quickly, but at the latest within a day! If you do not get a confirmation from me, then please find a way to make sure I have your orders! The responsibility lies with the player to make sure you have a “received” from me!
Timing – We’ll go at the leisurely pace of a week for major turns, and 2 days for minor turns. Always 10am Pacific, which is 1pm Eastern, 5pm GMT, 6pm UK, 7pm CET. Deadlines will generally be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Map – you can all download the Realpolitik files from the variants page of the website if you like to use RP. I’ll include a map and dpy file with adjudications. Attached is a names map, showing some valid abbreviations you can use, tho in general I will send out maps without the names since it’s pretty ugly with them turned on.
Game Page: www.diplomaticcorp.com?game_id=dc185. Stay up to date on standings, dig the dirt on your fellow players, see the past adjudications, current map, etc.
Message Board: http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=82
You can post via email: dc185(at)diplomaticcorp.com (dc185(at)diplomaticcorp.com).
********************************************
First deadline: A bit longer than normal, since turn 1 diploming can be intense... Wednesday May 21, 10am Pacific! This should give us a bit of time for some intros and general lollygagging. But do send in prelims! Send me at least a prelim set by this Friday so we’re ready to rock and roll next week.
********************************************
And finally – The countries!!
Leader of Athens, right in the center of the map and in red: Max!
Out on the tip of the Peloponnesus and wearing black, our Spartan Mark!
Across the Corinthian, in the light cyan, we have the Boeotians led by Paul!
Just up the coast, we have the Thessalians led by Alan in yellow!
Near mainland Europe in blue, we have the Macedonians – and their capable leader Jorge!
Coming out of Asia Minor, we have Michael driving the mean green Persian machine!
And on the coast with their 3 shiny white fleets we have the Ionians – and Garry!

Mike, please add 164 to the list of Forums.
Once the forum is created, please everyone remember to subscribe to it.
We ahave a good mix of Old Hands, total newbees, and new to PBEM players.
Please remember there is no penalty for preliminary orders, so please send in something early so you do not get caught with an NMR.
I'll give everyone a week to converse and call the first Spring deadline Tuesday March 18th (at) 9PM East Coast US Time
Good Luck!

DC173 OK Computer - A Troutish Take-over - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hi folks,
As you might have already heard, Hugh has unfortunately decided to step down from the position of GM for DC-173. With regrets, we've accepted his resignation and I will be stepping in to carry the game along. I have re-named the game OK Computer owing to my huge devotion to the Radiohead album of the same title...
I'd like to ask all you players to drop me a quick line just to check in with me. I think we're at the Winter 1902 adjustment phase, so those of you needing to send in builds or disbands can send them to me at the same time. We'll transition smartly through this minor turn and into Spring 1903. =)
Attached you'll find my house rules - somewhat different from Hugh's. Please give them a read-through and let me know if there's anything you find objectionable.
I'd like to set a deadline of Thursday, May 15th (11:59 PM GMT) for everyone to contact me and/or submit their Winter 02 orders. If I receive word from everyone before then however, I will adjudicate earlier.
Concerning order format - please just ensure that the orders are legible and can be understood by a third-grader. (Which somewhat describes my mentality..) Abbreviations that can be confused for more than one province (i.e. NOR or TYR) should be avoided. But my HR's go into this in more detail.
That's it from me. I'll look forward to hearing from you all! Let's get grooving! =P
Cheers,
Trout[Reply] |

DC 134 - WOT - Spring 1005 Results - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
News and rumor fly on a thousand wings.
Before the dust settles, the whole world knows.
With the Borderlanders distracted, the Trolloc Hordes poured through Tarwin's Gap and have sacked Fal Dara.
The only good news is that an Army of Black-eyed Aiel was prevented from leaving the Passes of the Spine of the World.
In the rest of the world, The Sea Folk are on the move again, and the Garyth Bryn is rumored to have died in the rubble of the New City as the Whitecloaks burn Caemlyn and send the Midlands to the World of Dreams. Thank you Jules for a great game. When you can please send me your EOG notes and suggestions for Varient improvements
There are no retreats, so we will move straight to the Fall 1005 orders.

Hey folks,
Deadline for Winter 1872 is in just over 7 hours - I am missing adjustments from two of you - although one of those players got me word this morning that orders were on the way...
Also, a Dutch solo proposal is on the table. I only have votes from three of you players on this one. Need a yay or nay response from five or six more...
Cheers folks!

Table a proposal for BC/CALI/MEX Victory. Vote publicly (preferred) or with your orders.
Table a proposal for Sims to get a nod of the cap for a fine demonstration in NSC.

Amid the crumbs of Winter 2008 can be gleaned this fortune cookie wisdom: You may attend a party where strange customs prevail ...
Obviously someone has been observing our game. =P But speaking of - the congestion is eased around the Great Lakes area as Ohio and Upper Peninsula are both disbanded. Meanwhile armies are seen in San Diego, Mexico City and Calgary - fleets pop up in Anchorage and Vera Cruz.
Deadline for Spring 2009 orders will be set for Friday, May 16th (11:59 PM GMT). Cheers!
