Us Magicians, we bow and praise ??the superior magical powers of the Sims-Ogres.?? Never before in the history of the dip world have we seen empires lining up like innocent sheep in front of the slaughter house without any sign of doubt, safe resistance.Such splendid powers it is that even performing the kills in full sight of the crowd never stirred any irritation. ?? True magic - which deserves another vote on an Ogre solo ! Rolf ????(Last Mag standing) Von: Dance.scholar [mailto:dance.scholar(at)gmail.com]

But when it rains, it pours. Sandy may have struck NY/NJ, but the Ogres go on a rampage here! You'd think with a stab this large that there'd be a lot of adjustments. But you'd be wrong. Only *1* dislodgement, although a bushel of Disbands!
Adjustments due tomorrow, Thursday 11/1 (at) 5PM MST (although I won't adjudicate until later)

DC406: Fall 13 Results!!! (dc406) laxrulz777 Nov 01, 09:02 am |
the "I told you so" is absolutely deserved... the dumbass was a bit of a cheap shot ~
There was a single turn where I think I could have extracted a KOD draw from Mike and he said the absolute perfect thing to keep it going, "I'd like to push. I built the map to have not stalemate lines and I'd kind of like to see if that's the case at this point. If you're burnt out though, let's go ahead and take the draw."
This was, in hindsight, a masterful little bit of diplomacy. Everything in my heart and head said that a two way draw was untenable barring the Knights being on death's door but still with a decent SC count. I should have listened to either of those things rather than thinking from the little horned devil on my shoulder that was saying, "Go for the two way with an outside chance of soloing yourself!"
Kudos also to Mike for maintaining pitch perfect diplomacy on the fateful turn. Truthfully, this is the absolute first turn in the game where I DIDN'T think he'd stab me. Partly due to vacation and return from work. Partly just due to built up trust. And partly due to just sheer hubris on my part. There's something a little poetic about a huge stab being performed on Halloween at least... glad I asked for that delay!
I told Mike Sims yesterday, "Corporate America has trained me to hate going on vacation."
I can now add, "Large scale diplomacy games have trained me to hate going on vacation."
Pat and I are ready to fight it out but a quick SC count tells me that, I think, that won't happen. Hoffman, can you get us an updated SC count? I think the best case scenario I see right now is a 51 SC count for Mike inevitable by next turn without the Nomad center which means our hold out just forces him to pop Garry's last SC. Once I get that, I'll confirm my request for an Ogre Solo or I'll outline why I think Pat and I can form a line (if my manual count is off by a couple, which it may be given that so much shifted this turn) and force you all to endure another week of chinese water torture

OCEANIA Fall 1901 Results:
[Winter 1901 Builds Due Thursday 01 Nov (at)1600hrs]
Marshall_Islands will need some good allied help because of slow growth, Japan on a tear, Indonesia invades Australian outback, New Zealand and US eye French territory!
Two Week Deadlines:
Sunday(Spring(at)2400), Tuesday(retreats(at)2400),
Sunday(Fall(at)2400), Tuesday(retreats (at)2400),
[Thursday(Winter(at)1600)]
So far my Adjudicator is having less trouble with this game than it did with Colonial.

I am in a game with 1.Sp/Su, Fl/Wt turns it works but I am willing to go with different system. How does 2.Sp/Su, Fl/Retreats, Winter two days after fall results sound? Sun/Sun/Tues (Wt) deadlines sound?
Creating retreat list for each unit in danger of dislodgement and priority builds/Removals lists allow (1) to work.
I am willing to go with majority opinion and work different system.

There is no separate turn for Winter but, you may ask for separated seasons and a 48 hour extension for retreats or builds will always be given.
Until 1902 is over I will do this even without request if all Sm/Wt orders are not in!

I do not have Conditional builds from everyone so we can set a deadline of Sunday Nov 4 for Builds. One player made a mistake, till 1902 I will give 24 hours for players to correct same. This means that all can change orders till I adjudicate sometime tomorrow. Stay safe from Sandy!

There is no separate turn for Winter but, you may ask for separated seasons and a 48 hour extension for retreats or builds will always be given.
Until 1902 is over I will do this even without request if all Sm/Wt orders are not in!

I'd like to put in a formal request that there be a separate winter move. As Warren correctly points out, a lot can happen in the fall moves and I too would rather submit winter builds (or removes) after I know how the fall resolves. This request is not just for this turn, but the entire game.

Lots of abbreviations, but it looks like an offer to have separate winter turns for 2days after fall retreats. If I understood it right, that's good for me.

Hugh,
I'd like to put in a formal request that there be a separate winter move. As Warren correctly points out, a lot can happen in the fall moves and I too would rather submit winter builds (or removes) after I know how the fall resolves. This request is not just for this turn, but the entire game.

There is no separate turn for Winter but, you may ask for separated seasons and a 48 hour extension for retreats or builds will always be given.
Until 1902 is over I will do this even without request if all Sm/Wt orders are not in!

Hugh, I agree with Jonny proposal: separate winter turns for 2 days after retreat. Time for retreat is 2 days too..

Hugh,
Lots of abbreviations, but it looks like an offer to have separate winter turns for 2days after fall retreats. If I understood it right, that's good for me.

DC428 Spring 1911 Orders, Game Finished - Zoterik (Oct 29, 2012, 6:37 am) |
In a different context, this turn may have marked the beginning of a continental struggle between superpowers. However, the two-way draw vote has passed (with his second consecutive NMR, Russia falls into Civil Disorder and is no longer considered an active player). This means that the game is now complete!
Congratulations to Mark (France) and John (Italy)! This game had more than its fair share of dropped players and NMRs, but on the whole I think it was a very impressive contest. Feel free to distribute your thoughts and comments on the game.

Hi All,
"Again with the delays" ... no, no one actually said that to me, just my own head yelling at myself.
Apologies for the graininess of the map. I had to use Paint instead of PaintShop -- running this at work.
DEADLINE for FALL 13 is Monday 4/29 (at) 5 PM MST. Luckily for all of you, my Internet will be down until around 7 PM MST, so you've got a couple extra hours.
Retreats for Spring 13:
Dwarves:

F HIGH SEAS - Abby Normal
Thanks,

DC428 Winter 1910 Adjustments - Zoterik (Oct 24, 2012, 6:47 am) |
The end of 1910 is marked by the ascendancy of the West, marked by the proposed France/Italy two-way draw. And yet, both recipients of the draw vote build fleets which could potentially be used to try to gain an advantage of one over the other. Meanwhile, out East, Turkey clings on for dear life while a NDR from Russia puts the third Tsar in a tenuous position.
Spring 1911 orders will be due at 9:00pm on 27 October, or 03:00 BST on 28 October. Don't forget your draw vote!
