DC-406 Spam (but you should read this!) - offdisc   (Sep 25, 2012, 4:32 pm)
As a former games reviewer, I know how tricky designing and developing a game can be. Hoo Boy! I have never envied the game designer, but I sure as hell respect the good ones. So many things can go wrong: are dice too unpredictable/predictable? Are the powers aligned evenly enough? Are the cards too complicated? Even the smallest issue can doom a game to the bottom of the reviewer's closet --- and the simplest games can end up being the most successful. Who doesn't grin when they see Connect4 sitting on a shelf? Imagine if the designer had added an 8th column, or even just laid it flat on a board instead of the cool "make it rain" emptying effect?

Congrats on your success Dirk!!! I know how hard you worked for it!

DC432 Spring 05 Retreats - Joral   (Sep 22, 2012, 7:12 pm)
Austria retreats to Silesia.
Fall moves will be due Sunday, Sept 30 (at) 0200 GMT (Saturday, Sept 29 (at) 9PM).
Remember to vote on the draw proposal when you send orders.
Justin

Sorry about being late on this one. Laptop problems.

Anyway. Austria Army in Munich can retreat to Silesia, or OTB. If I can
get that answer by Sunday, Sept. 23, (usual time) I'd appreciate it.

Once I have that, the game will be under way again, and we have our first
draw proposal.

Draw proposal is a draw between France, Austria, and Russia, with Germany
and Italy surviving.

I will need votes with fall orders. Draw proposals pass on unanimous
votes only. Not voting is equivalent to voting no.

Austria:
F Adriatic Sea Supports F Greece - Ionian Sea
A Budapest - Galicia
A Bulgaria Hold
A Galicia - Bohemia

DC406: Fall 11 archer eog! - pieandmash   (Sep 22, 2012, 10:42 am)
I was excited about this game, an all star line up and an updated map. Alas 2 v 1 from the go and no support from my 'allies' bode ill. I enjoyed frustrating my gnome pirate antagonists, but very frustrated with lack of help. Still thats the game. Good luck, my money is on the ogres

DC433 Autumn 06; Finished! - Zoterik   (Sep 21, 2012, 10:28 am)
The Persian units have retreated, but more importantly, consensus has been reached to bring the game to its end in a C/G/P three-way draw.  I think it definitely had more play left in it, but congratulations go out to Mike (Carthage), Matt (Greece), and Derek (Persia) for their victory.  Commiserations go to Andrew (Egypt); and Max (Rome) gets a pat on the back for staying alive in the Slav lands.  The final map is enclosed; you guys can write up your After Action Reports if you so choose, and I'll follow up with my own thoughts and observations.  Thanks very much for the pleasure of your participation!

DC406: Fall 11 Results! - offdisc   (Sep 20, 2012, 2:15 pm)
Hi All,Like the current election, early polls showed a wide lead for the Ogre Solo, but then the Ogre/Dwarf/Knight draw stole votes. The draw involving the Undead was the Ross Perot / Ron Paul of the election.

In the end, though, all draws failed due to an NMR by the Gnomes.

DC428 Autumn 1908 Retreat - Zoterik   (Sep 19, 2012, 11:40 pm)
The English fleet is disbanded, so the Royal Navy will continue the fight from Portugal.  There was an error on the previous map, which I attribute to a hyperactive touch-pad; the Russian army Munich was supposed to support Sil-Boh, but instead it was held.  Problem solved.  Only two players have builds, so hopefully we won't have to wait until the deadline before 1909 can begin.  Feel free to search around for a new Russian player.

The Winter 1908 builds are due at 9:00pm CDT on 18 Sep, or 03:00 BST on 19 Sep.

DC433 Fall 06 - Zoterik   (Sep 18, 2012, 11:45 pm)
The balance of power shifts ever so slightly to the west, as Carthage dislodges two Persian units and Greece forces another to disband.  I can't figure out if anyone is allied, but I can make a decent guess that at least two players are looking at their chances of a solo.  Keep the votes coming for the C/G/P draw proposal!

Autumn 06 retreats are due 9:00pm CDT on 20 Sep, or 03:00 BST on 21 Sep.  I've included the adjustments along with the retreats; those who have adjustments can feel free to send them now as well, in order to speed things up.

DC428 Fall 1908 Orders - Zoterik   (Sep 15, 2012, 5:21 pm)
The dying wishes of the Tsar were sent to the Russian forces, thus they honor his memory with blood, not tears.  The DIAS has been vetoed, and the game continues following its first elimination:  the final Austrian unit was dislodged and disbanded, and we bid farewell to Buck-a great player who caught the short end of the stick.  If you want to continue to receive adjudications, let me know.

France completes the conquest of Great Britain, but the Royal Navy lingers in Portugal while Russia and Germany exchange a center, and Italy walks into Greece as Turkey sails out.

Two units were dislodged: Eng F London and Ita A Bohemia.  Bohemia had no retreat and was disbanded.  The sole Autumn 1908 retreat is due 9:00pm CDT on 17 September, or 03:00 BST on 18 September.  I will, as usual, adjudicate unless the retreat is provisional.  I will also accept build orders; the adjustments are provided below the retreats.

DC433 Spring 06 Orders - Zoterik   (Sep 14, 2012, 11:21 pm)
Let battle be joined!  Year Six is marked by the onset of great and terrible war between the Carthaginian and Persian Empires while Rome proves correct Richard Sharp's adage "While you have a single unit at large, you are still in the game (TGOD, Chapter 2)."  Yet, we still have an active C/G/P draw open for your votes.  At this point in the game I won't reveal the results until all votes are received.

The Greek F Aegean Sea was dislodged, and had one retreat (Sparta), so ordered.  The Fall 06 deadline is 9:00pm CDT on 17 September or 03:00 BST on 18 September.
