As a former games reviewer, I know how tricky designing and developing a game can be. Hoo Boy! I have never envied the game designer, but I sure as hell respect the good ones. So many things can go wrong: are dice too unpredictable/predictable? Are the powers aligned evenly enough? Are the cards too complicated? Even the smallest issue can doom a game to the bottom of the reviewer's closet --- and the simplest games can end up being the most successful. Who doesn't grin when they see Connect4 sitting on a shelf? Imagine if the designer had added an 8th column, or even just laid it flat on a board instead of the cool "make it rain" emptying effect?

Congrats on your success Dirk!!! I know how hard you worked for it!

I'm so jealous of people that design games for a living... I KNOW (on an intellectual level) that it's not as "fun" as it sounds... but c'mon!! I look at spreadsheets all day... the closest I've come to fun is building tetris in excel while I was bored for 6 hours in an airport (for the record, anyone who complains about "poor collision detection" in video games hasn't tried to cobble together collision detection from excel borders Wink

I say good on you Dirk!

Dirk Knemeyer has a small board game design company, and his second game is the Highlighted project on Kickstarter.
He reached and surpassed his funding level today.  Check it out!

If you voted publicly already, THOSE VOTES DO NOT COUNT.  All votes MUST be sent to me privately.

Send in votes with Fall moves.  If I receive 100% YES votes for a proposal, I will end the game without processing.
Fall Deadline is Wednesday 9/19 (I'd do Thursday, but that's my anniversary and the wife has priority over Dip Smile )

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
