DC 420: Fall 1907 Adjudication - josephmcoffey   (May 24, 2012, 7:26 pm)
Sorry about the NMR.  Lots of excuses, but they don't fix it.

So... How about we call it a draw?

420: Fall 1907 Adjudication

What was it I said last time about EF?  That they would be lucky to hold four centers after this season?  Well... they're not lucky.  Indeed, one half of that alliance is AWOL.  No French units move... which is a shame, since Belgium *could* have been defended, and that would have meant the destruction of the Turkish army in Kiel via friendly fire, and that could just possibly have led to strife.

Instead, it's more of the relentless same.  With the exception of Italy, everybody adjusts (sorry, Maslow, but Mr. Saywell was not about to let you have a second center):

DC421 - Fall 1907 Results - Corrino   (May 24, 2012, 7:17 pm)
In 1907, the West is Best!
While Austria, Italy and Turkey knock each other about, France and Germany fortunes wax refulgent with each one taking back their briefly mislaid possessions and gearing up the war machines.  France takes over the board top position with 9 SC, and he and his friend the Kaiser each have two new builds at their disposal this Winter season.
In other news:The English fleet remains stranded in Barents Sea.The Russian fleet remains stranded in Rumania.  (Rumors have it that if that the only thing keeping them above water are the lines to the dock.)Austria and Italy hold their own at home against the Turks, but are shrinking none the less.

RETREATS NEEDED:
Italian F Marseilles can retreat to Gulf of Lyon or OTB.
Turkish A Venice can retreat to Tuscany or Apulia or OTB.

ADJUSTMENTS:
England and Russia can relax.  Everybody else is either up or down.  See charts below for full SC ownership and adjustment counts.

NEXT DEADLINE:
Autumn Retreats and Winter Adjustments are due tomorrow, Friday, May 25, by 18:00 Eastern time.  Results will be posted promptly, as I have places to go and people to meet this weekend.

Cheers,Chris

dc419 fall 1907 results! - coryfucius   (May 24, 2012, 5:58 pm)
A total of 6 centers change hands.  Germany and Italy support each other in taking London and Brest, respectively, while France offsets part of the loss by sailing to Edinburgh.  Austria gets an assist from Turkey and regains Greece.  Germany marches unopposed into Denmark.  Russia compensates by gaining control of Constantinople. A total of 4 units are dislodged:
The French army in Brest may retreat to Picardy or OTB.
The French fleet in London may retreat to Wales or OTB.
The Italian army in Greece may retreat to Albania or OTB.
The Italian fleet in Aegean Sea may retreat to Ionian Sea or OTB. Amazingly, with that many units forced to retreat, they all only have one on-board option, so I'll go ahead and order
those.  Marc and Michael, if you want to change any of those retreats to OTB, please let me know. The Winter 1907 adjustments, due tomorrow, Friday 5/25 at 3pm Central (US) / 20:00 GMT, will be as follows:
  Austria:  build 1
  France:  remove 1
  Germany:  build 1
Italy:  no change (or build 1 to replace an OTB retreat)
Turkey:  remove 1 Thanks! Cory ----- Fall 1907 results: Austria:

Well, i thought it might speed the game along a little but with two new Russian armies coming on board and him seeing you try to kill his Bulgarian army that might not be a proposal that will pass now.

Well, i thought it might speed the game along a little but with two new Russian armies coming on board and him seeing you try to kill his Bulgarian army that might not be a proposal that will pass now.

DC428 Spring 1901 Results - Zoterik   (May 23, 2012, 9:18 pm)
Now that German high command has been restored, the game proceeds!  All your secret negotiations, (mis)information, and plotting will either bear fruit or come to naught. The orders received are absolutely fascinating, and I look forward to a frantic Fall 1901.  Well, frantic for some.

Two comments:  First, preliminary orders make the world go 'round.  They prevent NMRs, which makes both players and GMs happy, and I strongly encourage everyone to use them (you never know when your internet might collapse, or your computer might need an essential part replaced).  Please use them.  The sense of last-minute panic upon realizing you might not have submitted any orders whatsoever is simply too terrifying to wish upon anyone.  Second, some of you might have noticed that our first German player gave his location as a town in northern Italy, which is 100 km away from the epicenter of the earthquake which occurred in the early morning hours of 20 May.  This is not related to his sudden absence from the game; I had tried and failed to reach him well before the earthquake struck.  No matter what his reasons were, I think we can all agree he may have more important things to deal with than Diplomacy right now.  Many thanks are due to Cartesian for stepping into the Stadtschloss with true Germanic efficiency.

And you may notice we have a bit of Press out of Berlin.  Any players wishing to submit Press (including anonymously) can do so and I will reveal it along with the orders.  Finally, if anyone spots a mistake, you have until the next adjudication to bring it to my knowledge.  So, without further ado, here are the Spring 1901 orders.  As we have no retreats, we proceed to the Fall 1901 turn, which will end on Monday, 28th May at 9:00pm US Central Time, which is Tuesday, 29th May at 03:00 London time for our two British players.

Until I read "Kissinger, Schwarzenegger" I was wondering: The 4th Reich is Chinese and Indian?[ Disguised as refugees/immigrants we have sent our most brilliant people to take over the US from the inside.

Seriously though, I find it incredible that so many pundits in the US are focusing on how the Banking sector will be negatively affected world-wide if the Euro collapses, but not looking at the bigger picture: National Debt.
If Greece pulls out of the Euro and goes back to the Drachma (or a new currency), it's current debts are totally devalued. Follow that with Italy & Spain doing the same, and much of Europe and the US are sitting on IOUs with no backing behind them.  What happens when you knock out the bottom row of a house of cards? The only ones left standing are the ones in a different house --- in this case, China!, who owes few and is owed by many!

The High School debate topic last year dealt with space, but much debate was held concerning the threat of war with China. I never believe that China will invade *anyone*, they haven't in the past (much) and I just don't see them changing so many years of history. Really, for an Imperial nation, they have not been very imperialistic. No invasion of Vietnam (or anywhere on the peninsula), no invasion of Korea -- even when Japan invaded them, they never invaded back.

That being said, if the rest of world lost all the backing for their national debts, China could win the "war" without firing a single shot.  Good thing I love egg rolls!

Actually the 4th Reich already exists. It's seeds were laid  in the 1930ies.
Disguised as refugees/immigrants we have sent our most brilliant people to take over the US from the inside.
They operate from behind the (top executives) lines and their mission is well hidden. Only when individuals violate their orders and try to move to the US top ranks, (Kissinger, Schwarzenegger, etc.) the public suddenly discusses about their German roots.
Why do you think, the US sent all the Marshall Plan money to postwar Germany to help rebuilt it ?
Come on guys, you can't be SO naïve ?

body{font-family: Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:9pt;background-color: #ffffff;color: black;}

It would appear that Turkey and Germany intend for this game to end in a Russian solo victory. The only good thing about beating your head against a wall is that it feels so good when you stop. Rather than waste any more time on this game, if this is what everyone wants then it's what shall happen. I'll be proposing a Russian concession. Well negotiated, Michael.
Cheers,

Until I read "Kissinger, Schwarzenegger" I was wondering: The 4th Reich is Chinese and Indian?[ Disguised as refugees/immigrants we have sent our most brilliant people to take over the US from the inside.
They operate from behind the (top executives) lines and their mission is well hidden.]Smile

Sorry for the delay... RL tends to get in my way the last two weeks of May. France's attempt to grab Paris is foiled by Germany.  Russia sails into Constantinople as Turkey moves out.  And although this doesn't affect control of a supply center, Russia convoys to Yorkshire via a German fleet! No units are dislodged, so we proceed directly to Fall 1907, for which orders will be due Thursday 5/24 at 3pm Central (US) / 20:00 GMT.  Thanks! Cory ----- Spring 1907 results: Austria:
