DC406: Fall 06 Results! - offdisc   (May 09, 2012, 10:58 am)
I was missing a set of retreats last night (plus I got home REALLY late), so I pushed the retreat deadline, which means the Build deadline will also push to tomorrow.
New Map, Retreat results, and Adjustment values wil be releases later today.

Still, I think we can keep the Spring deadline for next Tuesday, don't you? In the meantime, get to know Jerome. He seems like a nice enough guy!

Hi All,We have officially entered the mid-game phase of our game. This is the phase when final alliances are usually made, when shaky alliances fall apart, and when the mettle of a GM is tested! How is the GM involved? This is the phase when orders aren't always checked carefully, when extensions are 'meant' to be sent but forgotten, when players start dropping out of contact, and when tough decision need to be made.

I was hoping this game would skip this phase and proceed directly to endgame, but alas on a board this large, that would be near impossible.
And so we suffer our first NMR power, most likely an Abandonment.  I tried several times to reach the affected party, but to no avail. However, the game must move on. We are already looking for a replacement player who knows his time will be fleeting in the next couple months and is sticking it out, but would like someone to take his position.  Trying to find 2 replacements at the same time is a death knell for a game and the rest of you shouldn't suffer that fate. The decision, following in Mike Sims' precedent, is to move forward with the abandoned party in Civil Disorder until a brave soul steps in to claim the crown. I will post another message to the Light Brigade attempting to locate our Knight in shining armor!

This is also the year to say Goodbye to 2 powers: Rogues and Magicians.  Thank you to Warren and Mark! You both persevered under tough conditions and I thank you for continuing to play even when it seemed hopeless.  Well done!

DC 398, Game over - alwayshunted   (May 08, 2012, 11:23 pm)
Hey group,
Okay, so I kind of let this slide to the back burner. Sorry for the delay, but the game is now completed on the DC site.  Thanks to everyone for an nmr free game!  I know we had one sort of, but I didn't count that one for Darren because it was pretty clear that he made the effort.  Congrats to Tim, Garry and John for the draw, and Darren for hanging on to survive.
I've attached a final map, although you've all seen it.
End game proposals are most welcome, although I know this one has faded a bit.
Cheers,
Warren

dc419 spring 1905 results! - coryfucius   (May 08, 2012, 5:37 pm)
Yet more twists in the Balkans, as Austria finds his neighbors all working to drive his forces back toward their homeland.  Elsewhere, Russia marches into Sweden, and France sails into Liverpool. Three units are dislodged:
The Austrian army in Bulgaria may retreat to Serbia or OTB.
The Austrian army in Greece may retreat to Albania, Serbia, or OTB.
The Russian army in Galicia may retreat to Bohemia, Silesia, Ukraine, or OTB. Although Austria technically has multiple retreat options, it's clear that the Archduke would not order both units to Serbia, as they would both die - it would have the same effect as retreating OTB -
so if these were the only retreating units, I could handle it myself.  However, since that Russian unit has multiple options, we have to have a summer retreat phase. Summer 1905 retreat orders will be due tomorrow, Wednesday 5/9 at 3pm Central (US) / 20:00 GMT.  But I will post the results as soon as I possibly can, once I receive the Russia retreat order, so we at least have a chance of getting back on schedule. Cory ----- Spring 1905 results: Austria:

Greetings all,I understand that an error was made in the results description.  I blame this on static across the Internet!  I do owe the Magicians some humble apologies, and we all owe the Wizards a hale and hearty Goodbye.

There was also a question about how Draws are handled. Draw proposals can be submitted at any time, and they will be announced as quickly as possible. The results will be tallied and announced in the following Results phase, at which time the slate is wiped clean. The vote must be UNANIMOUS! A single NO vote, or any abstention, will results in a vote FAIL.  (NMR powers obviously do not participate and thus are not counted as abstained).

DC406 replacement needed - offdisc   (May 07, 2012, 8:52 pm)
To Arms! To Arms!
We have a need for *2* White Knights to ride to the rescue in the latest Haven game. One position is NMR, one is still being played but the player needs to leave. Both positions are fairly tenable, neither an outright mercy position.
Please, if you have the time, come take these positions and rescue our game from the duldrums of picking off Civil Disorder positions.
Thanks,

DC421 - Spring 1905 Results - Corrino   (May 07, 2012, 7:47 pm)
Hey Players,
I'm sorry to inform you that War has been declared in Europe!  Shocking, I know.  I really thought we were just about done with our petty differences and were going to avoid further unpleasantness, but then I found the following in my Inbox.
PRESS:
Germany declares War on Russia: Oh what the hell, its been a long time since I let lose the Blitz on Russia.  Lets have some fun.  I say the odds are 70/30 in your favour!  Nothing personal, but if you are not going to attack Turkey,I might as well attack you.  Rob/Dorian may take
advantage and wack me, but that's the risk I now take.
"OMG!" shout teenage girls everywhere.  "It's an EPIC FAIL for European diplomacy!"  Horror quickly turns to puzzlement, however, as the German units themselves don't really seem 100% committed to war on the Eastern front.  Sweden to Bothnia.  Check.  Munich to Silesia.  Check.  Denmark to Livonia.  Ch... wait a minute.  Seems like somebody in Denmark didn't get the memo.  When the Baltic fleet arrived to pick them up, they were nowhere to be found!  They had already marched back home to Kiel.  Change of heart, change of plans, or change of trousers?  For now that's for the Kaiser to know and the rest of us to speculate about.

In other news:Italy pushes, and France pulls, and Africa and the Western Med are largely free of French
influence.  Now it is Italy's turn to decide.  Chase, hold position or back off and secure the homeland?England holds tight, but has to think hard about that strategy in the Fall.  French fleets now threaten both of his remaining home centers.Austria thwarts the Russian attack, but cannot save Trieste from the Turks.  Could be a difficult choice on the retreat.  Tyrolia and Venice both offer intriguing (from this vantage point) options for both diplomacy and tactics.RETREATS:  Austrian army Trieste can retreat to Tyrolia, Venice, or OTB.
NEXT DEADLINE:  Austrian retreat is due tomorrow, May 8, by 18:00 Eastern time.
NEXT DEADLINE + 1:  Fall 1905 orders are due Thursday, May 10, by 18:00 Eastern time... OR whenever Mike Sims says.   I'm going to be traveling Thurs-Sun this week and I'm going to be
asking Mike (or his designated appointee) to sub for me.  Go ahead and send orders and so forth to me for now.  I'll let you know if and when you need to change that.

Cheers,Chris

There's one retreat to make. Given that the only valid retreat for Silesia is to Warsaw, I've auto-retreated the unit to Warsaw. Nigel, if you'd prefer to retreat OTB, let me know and I'll take it off the board. If you hear nothing by 2000GMT tomorrow, you can assume Nigel has decided not to change the auto-retreat.

The Autumn deadline is 2000GMT Thursday 10 May.

Best,

Jerome

DC399 - Summer 2008 - Viper   (May 07, 2012, 3:27 pm)
Well, well.  Here comes some interesting news: we have our first EG proposal.  Can't say I'm surprised.  More on that later.

The summer retreats leave Europe with no chance of coming back. Evidently, it's better to die in Moscow than be chased into the north.  Can't say I disagree.

Quebec:
A Vancouver - Manitoba
F Casablanca - Spain

Europe:
A Moscow - OTB

Draw Proposal:
4-way draw between Amazon, Oceania, Persia, and Quebec.

NOTE: This proposal requires a yes vote from all active players including Europe, who is still considered active despite having no units.

Next Deadline:
Fall 2008 moves accompanied by your vote on the propsal are due on Monday, May 14, at 3pm CDT.
