Whoops, missed a Hobbit move.  A Can-Wat was ordered.

Tho the Hobbits now take Waterdeep, the Wizards are unchanged and stay at 2, since now the Wat support is cut, the Wizards end up holding on to Vlh.

Net result...

Wizards must (may) retreat Wat, still -1

Hobbits are +2, not +1

Elves are +1, not +2

DC 373: Winter 1913 Adjudication - AceRimmer   (Oct 16, 2011, 11:03 pm)
A couple of hitches on the Winter adjudication, but all is well. We have a French fleet in Marseilles, a couple of new Austrian armies (not to mention a decision to abandon Rumania!), and a scuttled English fleet in the Channel.
I think we can achieve Spring 1914 by this Friday. So, let it be done.

DC 373: F1913 Adjudication - AceRimmer   (Oct 13, 2011, 2:38 pm)
I had thought about some whimsical musical lyrics today, but nothing quite fit, and I???m running out of time. So, it???s just a straight-forward adjudication.

Maslow, you haven???t been with us long, but I feel all the same you???ve made an important contribution to our game. Your centers will always be cherished... and for the moment, they remain yours! I know I was wondering whether Dirk would absorb them or not. The answer is ???not???... for now. For his part, Dirk seems well-prepared for a surprise invasion from off-board North Pole Elves.

There are three end-game proposals:
EFGR
EFG
EF

Feel free to vote for more than one proposal. Votes are due with next week???s Spring 1914 deadline.

Meanwhile, there are two retreats ??? both auto-retreats. If Jack or Stephen wishes a change, you???ve got until tomorrow to let me know:

Austrian A Ukraine retreats to Rumania
Russian F Sevastopol retreats to Armenia

This sets up Winter 1913, which is due tomorrow:

DC383 F13 MAY BE NIPPY BUT NO WINTER THIS YR - AlanRFarrington   (Oct 12, 2011, 10:45 pm)
Woah look at that nothing changed.  I thought for sure that Fall 1913 would show us a huge swing in board momentum, but in fact I'm practically looking at the same board I was staring 4 years ago.  Russia proposes and accepts a DIAS.  Lets get our soldiers out of their trenches and back home to their wives!

Alan

All
a very interesting game.
it is my first in this format and the first dip game that i have played since ... college some 20 years ago.
I was a bit rusty with the moves at first and the hurricane on the east coast of the US left me without power for a week to start and then scrambling at work to make up for not having power for a whole week.
I was a bit put off with Italy in that he declared both friendship and the desire to open with a Lepanto opening .. the mutual exclusivity of the stated goals kind of threw me into the arms of russia
It worked well with russia for the most part but the northern flank was his undoing.
when france NMRed and dropped the game quickly went out of balance and when italy refused to even contest southern france and the iberian peninsula i knew the writing was on the wall.
At this point ... Russia was really in trouble in the north and i considered a stab and grab for the bud, bul and stp ... which i think i would have gotten .. but again italy's refusal to look to the west as England gobbled up 3 scs meant i had to cast my lot with russia and try to force into the ion when i got the chance.
all in all
well done to england and germany ... and i wisg that france had not bailed.
good luck
steve

At long last!

(Note there was no player replaced after all)

NEXT:  Let’s get moving, right?  Next due Monday 10/17 3pm Central, however being Gunboat, there is no reason we can’t send out if I get a full set of orders.  So if I have everyone’s orders by Friday, I’ll post the results.

PRESS!

Norge-vik Radio News with Vicky Norman.

Our king finds our Swedish friends are in trouble in defending against rebellion. His troops are heading towards Kvenland or Karelia to help defending ALD and supporting Army Bir to GOT if necessary.

A group of scientsits are moving towards Mid Atlantic Ocean for scientific research. New theory shows that ocean current in Atlantic causing global warming. King Norge reminds the scientists not to enter Iberia and France as it is too hot and danger for Norgeans to live.

Norge-vik Radio, we report you believe!

********************

SlavicNation: We are a nomadic people.  We also have a tendency to get quite dizzy and walk in circles.  So please excuse us if we accidentally stumble into your territory.  It’s these allergies, you know.  ACHOOO!

The Amazing Kreskin – Danmark: I sense....I sense you have a connection to a woman.  Does that mean anything to you?  Perhaps with the letter S in her name?

Arab Anti-Defamation League – GM: We object strongly to the lack of Arabic participation in this battle of powers?  Are you trying to claim that we are not worthy of representation?  You can expect a loud demonstration if a remedy is not quickly developed (or a donation to our fund).

Chris Dodd – All: I’m Chris Dodd, and I approved this advertisement.

********************

The Grand Viking Addresses One and All

Too many Slavs and Romans. Idiots will kill each other, at least. French and Burgundians are too many, too, but they are smart enough to make nice. The rest of us need to band together and stop the rogues. Weak on weak is of no benefit to any of us, as the strong get stronger.

********************

BURGUNDY

********************

Burgundy to France: An interesting start. Pardon my move to Rou, it can be temporary. I think I have some trouble with the Danes.

Burgundy to East Roman Empire: Something beautiful you say. Okay then, let us proceed. Communicate your plans this summer once you see the situation. I will do the same.

********************

FRANCE

********************

To Burgundy,

When people interfere, we act. Denmark jumping Ham was unfortunate but expected. I'll lend you support into that center in the coming year. I ask that you help me take Rou with the army in Mne in the fall. I expect Fra and (possibly) Ham to fall into your hands this year.

To Norway,

With Noi in french hands, there will be no further hostilities on the part of France vs Norway unless provoked. We wish you a speedy conquest of England! When you read this, a french fleet might be in Mao. Do not be alarmed, since that vessel is aimed squarely at the Arabs. If there was a bounce in Mao, then we humbly ask for your permission to enter thoose waters this fall. Feel free to chip in on smashing Denmark.

To Eastern Roman Empire and Slavic Nations,

I have no quarrel with either of you, and I hope there will be none. An empty Graz might look tempting, but rest assured that the one of you who attacks and takes it won't find any friends in France.

Regards,

King of France

And the Italian march continues.

We have another departure from the game. Hamish
William, leader of the Turks lost his final battle to the raging Italians.
Thank you, Mr. Williams for the timely orders and a valiant fight to the end.

We also have another NMR from Russia. Andrew,
I will attempt to contact you shortly.

There are no retreats (I sent A ANK OTB)
so no need for an Autumn phase, we will move right on to Winter and
adjustments. Germany and Italy have
adjustments to make. See the chart at the end of this e-mail for more info. I
am setting an adjustment DEADLINE FOR THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13TH AT
8:30 AM EASTERN US
TIME. This is to accommodate a player that will be unavailable after that time
for several days. The Spring 1908 deadline will likely be next Thursday,
October 20th. I will verify that with the adjustment posting.

Map and .dpy are attached. Please check
for errors.
