Hi Players,
Well, our Italy managed to slip his orders into the mailbox just as I was locking it up for good. As it turned out if might not have made any difference in the results, but it does save me some "paperwork", which is nice, and it does still prove he's still around, so there's always hope!
Headlines this season in Europe:
Russia Romps! With the addition of Denmark, Berlin and Greece, the white army is now comfortably top of the board with 11 SC.
Germany Survives on One. Kaiser Boomer declares his country is "perfectly positioned for a comeback."
France Plays Nice and Nasty.
England remains in favor, but one turn after helping Italy to Munich he turns around and gives him the boot.
Austria Survives on Two. Russia and Turkey continue to resist the lure of a wide-open Vienna.
Nature Abhors Mediterranean Vacuum. That giant sucking sound in the Med is the whoosh of French and Turkish fleets rushing in to fill the void left by the implosion of the Italy navy last Spring.
RETREATS:
German fleet Berlin is auto-retreated to Prussia.
Italian army Munich is auto-retreated to Silesia.
Since both parties will need to remove a unit in the Winter, we'll just ignore the old OTB option this time.
ADJUSTMENTS:
France, Russia and Turkey are UP.
Germany and Italy are DOWN.
Austria and England are EVEN.
See the chart below for the numbers.
NEXT
DEADLINE:
Winter 1905 is due tomorrow, Friday, February 10, at 18:00 (that's 6 p.m.) Eastern time.
Cheers,
Chris

Gents, I must admit a small error.
The adjustments table published with yesterday's results was incorrect with regard to Italy. Instead of saying "Unit 4, Remove 1", it said "Unit 3 Build 0".
Obviously the adjustment table I distributed contradicts the map I sent out and the main text of my message. Nevertheless, I feel that in order to be 100% fair I needed to notify everyone and, because of the lateness of this correction and the fact that Brian is on the other side of the world, my conscience won't allow to charge Brian with an NBR if I don't receive a disband by tonight's 6:00 p.m. deadline.
Therefore, I am officially pushing the deadline back to 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. If I hear from Brian later tonight, I'll post tonight. If I don't hear from him by then, I'll apply the standard rules for NBRs.
My apologies for the (probable) delay. I will accept revised orders from all players up until the time I begin adjudicating.

WB DC366 F05 Results: Russia Eliminated - garry.bledsoe (Feb 10, 2011, 6:57 pm) |
We Bid Farewell to Dan
Everybody Gets a Part of Austria
It Seems They Are Not Long for This Game?
Germany NMR's Again But Is Not Eliminated
Anglo-Frankish Alliance Rolls Forward?
All,
A fateful turn it seems. It looks like we are moving solidly into the mid-game phase as one power is eliminated and two others look to be on the short list of those getting promoted to elimination.
We have several retreats that appear complicated on the surface but ultimately were not. The Russian F had several options for retreat - however, none of them matter since ultimately Russia will have to remove the unit. None of the retreat options were to a SC so I simply removed the unit. Austria had two retreats but both could only go to Budapest; therefore one had to go OTB. Technically both units could go OTB and one rebuild but the only place to rebuild would be Budapest so the retreat stands. For grins, Rum retreated to Bud (because it was first alphabetically) and Tri went OTB.
Sigh. Lots of fun. We move to Winter with the following adjustments:
England builds 1
France builds 2
Italy builds 1
Turkey builds 1
These are due tomorrow at 6pm CST.
A heads up: I think many of you are copying the orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com email when you send in orders. Please do so next week for sure. I will be gone Tuesday through Sunday and will NOT be able to run turns. Thus Mike will have to get them from the orders box to run the turn. I am unlikely to have access to email so I will not be able to forward your orders on to him if you forget. Sorry.

With multiple units from four different powers involved in the battle, the conflict between Budapest and Trieste fails to resolve anything. Elsewhere, Italy boots Germany back out of Marseilles, while Germany advances to Ukraine instead of taking control of Warsaw.
There is one autumn retreat due:
The German army in Marseilles may retreat to Gascony, Piedmont, or OTB.
Winter adjustments will be as follows:
Germany: build 1 (or build 2 if retreat OTB)
Turkey: build 1
Both the autumn retreat and the winter adjustments will be due tomorrow, Friday 2/11 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.

3-way draw EGF.
Germany votes YES in advance, but will submit Spring orders publicly with the vote when due after A/W adjustments.
Since we've all been emailing like crazy agreeing to this, hopefully, all can follow this lead so we can eventually make this official.

The walls continue to close in on the small powers... A waiting turn of sorts? Finish off the small fries? Will be interesting to see what breaks here - already the underground seems to be a popular region, with many civilizations ordering into the underground crossover spaces this round!
There are no retreats - so we move right on to Fall!
Due next Wed 2/16, 3pm Central!
Enjoy,
-mike

DC 341: Spring 1909 - AceRimmer (Feb 10, 2011, 1:40 pm) |
Once again, the Russian solo proposal fails to gain unanimous assent. Apparently, his campaign slogan of ???Surrender! We will crush you!??? isn???t winning over as many supporters as you might think.
Because the proposal fails, your little painted blocks continue to shuffle around a map of Europe. Italy gains the Mid-Atlantic!... in spite of misordering twice. Russia plows into both Berlin and Denmark. Germany scrambles to re-position. France???s efforts are generally stymied. And England remains placid.
There are no retreats! So, just send me some orders by the 17th, would ya?
