Sorry guys... weekends tend to do this to me. Not that it's an excuse, but all my NMRs have come on weekends, so maybe I just need to pay more attention. I'll try very much to not let this happen again.

Congrats Max, great game. And thanks Chris, you are an outstanding GM.
I also agree - player of the game was Dirk. What a negotiator.
For sure I did start out with the best of intentions for this game, but my personal life overran with more drama than I could handle, so to all, especially our excellent GM, I apologize. I always do my best to aviod the dreaded NMR.
Anyway, I did start out the game writing to all, see who was up for what. A basic flip of the coin and an idea I always wanted to try was team up with France, knock out England first and take over the world - sorry about that Bruce, but you were definitely going to zap me if I did not isolate you and knock you out. You have a reputation as a tough player - so as a sign of respect I had to go for an early knockout. Nothing you could have done.
Unfortunately for me and my solo ambition, Max is a heck of a lot better player than I am. He basically whooped me (as Dirk and the rest of you consistenly pointed out) but I thought I could eventually take him out. Well, that did not work out so well for me, but I am glad to see Max did get a solo. I appreciate the rest of you and I am sorry I could not have really stayed with it better, but it was always interesting.

Thanks to Christopher, solid GM game.
Bruce indeed i now have the curse! that is, the reason Jason (Germany) and I started on England was because he was experienced. Look forward to dip with you soon.
Jason I have to thank many times over because our solid alliance was the reason for our early success.......and only your real life committments and consequent lack of correspondence lead to me stabbing- otherwise id have stuck with you all the way.
Gabe- 1st game- wow! you did very well. One to watch for the future.
Kon- thanks for taking up the italian crown, and sticking at it.
Dirk- gets my vote for player of the game- because the odds were stacked heavily against him all the way, and he not only survived but was on a revival road at the end there. Also, he had me figured early on and his strong powers of persuasion were hard to counter- he nearly got the team up to stop me.
Brian, we didnt have a lot to discuss ever, but always good comms.
I look forward to playing with you all again soon
Best Wishes

My

Good work, by the way, Max. You played very well.

Max, you played as good a France as I've seen in - in the early game, in particular. Your solo is well-deserved: congratulations.
This was a frustrating game to play in, to the point where I don't want to say too much about it. I was a first year replacement player as Austria. I actually loved the position, because I felt my predecessor made good, aggressive moves that positioned me well, yet I could disavow the aggression and simply start with good position and new diplomatic relations. Unfortunately, I was surrounded by players who were inconsistent and unpredictable. Keeping their word one season, breaking it the next; moving coordinated one season, acting paranoid the next. It completely
bogged down the east. As such, all of us stayed at a low or medium number of centers until game end. Then, the inability to band together and force a draw with France - which was absolutely was in our reach - gave Max a solo that, while it could have been prevented, his play certainly deserved.
While not a particularly good game for me, I thought I did a nice job tactically, managing to grow even as RT moved against me together at the end of the game while I was essentially isolated. Also I liked Kon, the Italian replacement player. I regret we weren't in a position to do something more interesting together. Other than these things, I'm glad to see dc332 more into my rearview mirror.
Congrats again Max, and thanks again Chris!

DC 333, Spring 1906 - alwayshunted (Nov 05, 2010, 7:07 pm) |
Hi folks,
First thing, I received a proposal for a draw a few days ago that I promptly forgot to notify anyone about, so I'll do it now. There is a proposal for a two-way Russia/Turkey draw. It must be a unanimous decision and votes will be due with the fall 1906 orders.
Now on with the turn. Spring sees some changes, as two of England's units are forced to disband, and Italy makes a run for Iberia.... I think? Only the English units ran into any "problems" so there are no retreats due. On to fall, which will be due in one week, November 12 at 17:00 MST.
The turn:
--------------------
England:
A Edinburgh Hold
A Kiel - Holland (*Disbanded*)
F London - North Sea
F Skagerrak Supports F London - North Sea (*Disbanded*)

That's it. Maps are attached, check my work. Get those prelims in early and don't forget to vote on the draw proposal. Have fun,

DC344: Winter 1937 Retreats/Adjustments - charlesf (Nov 05, 2010, 1:33 pm) |
Hi guys,
two years have now passed. Checked out the other 1936 games to see
how many minor powers were still around in Winter 1937:
DC319: 9
DC330: 4
DC344: 6
So the average to date has been 6.33 Minor Powers. If you care to
check out how the other games had evolved by late 1937, I suggest
you check DC's game database.
Guys, please do me the favour of not sending your orders by
replying to previous adjucations with all maps included. I prefer
not having superfluous files being sent to and fro, you see. Also,
while on the subject of order submissions, please try to always
include all orders in later order revisions. If multiple follow-up
mails are basically footnotes partially tweaking this order set,
but not an other, it gets a little more tangled and confusing than
I'd ideally like things to be. Not that any of this is a big
deal...
Prelims are due on Monday NLT 6 PM CET.
Happy dipping,
Charles

Austria retreats. (Or is this a strategic re-allocation of central business assets?). Summer 1904 is due Monday, November 8 at 10:00 a.m. CST (now 16:00 GMT thanks to Daylight Savings Time). I can adjudicate this afternoon if there???s a quick turnaround.
The Austrian army in Serbia retreats to Albania unless otherwise ordered.
The Austrian fleet in Ionian Sea may retreat to Adriatic Sea, Apulia, Tunis, or off the board.
Fall 1904 will be due Friday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. CST (16:00 GMT).
In the West??? Germany gambles and leaves Holland unsupported. It works! The result is one disbanded English fleet in Skagerrak. Many units do not move, though German armies dance a little shuffle while French and Russian fleets advance on the flanks. Surely the winners in all this standoff are the Eastern powers, right?
In the East??? Austria???s future is looking very dour. Turkey???s is not much better. The Sultan suffers a bout of coastal confusion which wouldn???t have mattered anyway, since F Aegean failed to occupy Ionian. Still, Russian and Italian units are on the move everywhere. It???s a bloomin??? hornet???s nest, it is.

Well, of course, Kevin. It just simplifies his life greatly if he follows the same course of action in all his games. So, keep an eye out on DC 345... if he makes a stab there, you can be certain he'll make the same stab in this game (unless he NMRs).

See Adam, that's the key. John is flipping sides in all of the games that he's playing. Sadly, I don't know how he's going to move his fleets north or west in this game... but I have a feeling he'll try instead of continuing his southern assault against me.

So wait... When I submitted that build to my other dip game that I wanted to build A Mos, I just kind of assumed you'd realize I also wanted A Mus. I know you aren't the GM of the other game, and have no connection to it whatsoever, but I figured all gamemasters are omniscient and thus I would only need to submit one build for Mos/MUs.
Actually, apart from ascribing any blame to Garry, that's pretty close to what happened. I was sure I'd turned my build in... And I had, but to build A MOS in another game. Curses Foiled again!

See, the trouble isn't one of omniscience. I SAW the other orders. It is just that I am soooo above reproach and such a purist that I could not accept A Mos as a valid order for this game since there is no Mos. I KNEW your intent but I am not allowed by the GM code to accept any order that isn't to the letter of the law.
Besides, maybe you MEANT to misorder in your subconscious or in the depths of your heart; and, since I can see those places, I acted accordingly.
