Thanks to Christopher, solid GM game.
Bruce indeed i now have the curse! that is, the reason Jason (Germany) and I started on England was because he was experienced.  Look forward to dip with you soon.


Jason I have to thank many times over because our solid alliance was the reason for our early success.......and only your real life committments and consequent lack of correspondence lead to me stabbing- otherwise id have stuck with you all the way.


Gabe- 1st game- wow! you did very well. One to watch for the future.


Kon- thanks for taking up the italian crown, and sticking at it.


Dirk- gets my vote for player of the game- because the odds were stacked heavily against him all the way, and he not only survived but was on a revival road at the end there. Also, he had me figured early on and his strong powers of persuasion were hard to counter- he nearly got the team up to stop me.


Brian, we didnt have a lot to discuss ever, but always good comms.

I'd like to heartily agree about Chris.  You were excellent.  I really appreciated all of the (many) reminders you sent me. 

My
apologies for my personal inconsistencies, Dirk.  I know I was *really* inconsistent throughout this game.  It was my first game and I had a hard time keeping up on it.  I think in my future games I'll make more of an effort to talk to everybody. 

Good work, by the way, Max.  You played very well.

Max, you played as good a France as I've seen in - in the early game, in particular. Your solo is well-deserved: congratulations.

This was a frustrating game to play in, to the point where I don't want to say too much about it. I was a first year replacement player as Austria. I actually loved the position, because I felt my predecessor made good, aggressive moves that positioned me well, yet I could disavow the aggression and simply start with good position and new diplomatic relations. Unfortunately, I was surrounded by players who were inconsistent and unpredictable. Keeping their word one season, breaking it the next; moving coordinated one season, acting paranoid the next. It completely
bogged down the east. As such, all of us stayed at a low or medium number of centers until game end. Then, the inability to band together and force a draw with France - which was absolutely was in our reach - gave Max a solo that, while it could have been prevented, his play certainly deserved.

While not a particularly good game for me, I thought I did a nice job tactically, managing to grow even as RT moved against me together at the end of the game while I was essentially isolated. Also I liked Kon, the Italian replacement player. I regret we weren't in a position to do something more interesting together. Other than these things, I'm glad to see dc332 more into my rearview mirror.
