Actually, this is a really good point. As long as they have centers, there can be no draw. If they have both stated their intention to abandon, I say we can call their countries in CD and forget about their votes, but, as per the discussion we had about proxies, this might not be possible.

Votes with your fall orders, if you please. Please note that Russia NMRd as well, bringing the NMR count this turn to three. No retreats, so Fall moves on thursday. Remember to vote!

The Turkish F GoL has been sunk and the Frankish A Mun only had one option for retreat (to Burgundy) - Michael, please let me know in the next 24 hours if you would have prefered the unit to retreat OTB.

I have included both Fall and Autumn 1904 maps. The new centre count is on the map. Adjustments are
Yugoslavia +1
UKGB&S +1
Frankish & Visigothic Realm -(minus) 1
Mediterranean Peoples Confederation +1

Those Winter adjustments are due to me no later than 12noon this Thusday (in roughly 48 hours)

The proposal for the DIAS has failed.

I have received a proposal for an Austrian (Yugoslavian!) Solo Victory.

This proposal would require all players to vote 'YES' in order for it to succeed, with any abstentions counting as 'NO' votes. I shall set the deadline for this proposal to coincide with the Spring 1905 deadline which is 12noon GMT next Tuesday, However, if I receive 'YES' votes from all players before that time then I shall let you all know.

DC 312 End of Game - untitled36   (May 11, 2010, 8:31 am)
Hey all,

It was great to hear the closing remarks from everyone. It appears looking at the game history that the east started in a AIR alliance vs turkey, which then quickly devolved into the RIT that won the game. In the west England and germany appeared to work fairly well from the beginning, taking down France slowly but surely. The RIT advance was quick, and the level of trust and cooperation allowed the team to advance rapidly. I was suprised, for example, by turkey's ability to walk around all those russian centers in Austria without nabbing them. I'm sure you had russia biting his nails those last couple of turns!

I'm also terribly suprised everyone voted yes on the draw. It seems everyone kind of expected everyone else to vote "no," but no one did. I think this may be due to the tournament scoring, in part. The three way knew they had a good score to end with, and were probably afraid if they waited it might become a 2-way, with them being stabbed by their former partners. The western votes also suprised me, France was clearly happy to pull a survival through this, and I suppose England and Germany could just see the writing on the wall. It was suprising, though, to see Alan conceed when he had the same number of scs as two of the winners, and *more* than the third winner. But again, I think he was cutting his losses and taking his points while he had them.

All in all, a quick, fun game. We had some minor spats over various issues, but I think they all worked themselves out. Good game all!

John

Hey all,

I'm irrationally saddened that Italy didn't retreat to Bohemia. Not for any strategic or tactical reasons, but for the loss of the rare opportunity to see two units disband by retreating to the same location. How often do you actually see that happen? Oh well, such is life!

In other news, the old favorite, the FIR 3-way draw, is back on the table for another vote. One of you commented that it appears we might get into the time period of WWII before WWI comes to an end! We'll see if everyone decides to end it, or keep fighting the good fight!

Whoa there nelly! I DID send in moves. In fact it was *I* who proposed the draw! My moves were, and I quote:

"Stp-Mos
Mos s sil-war
Sil-war
ber s kie-mun
Kie-Mun
hel-kie
Nwy holds.

I propose a 4 way (RITE) alliance (It's the "rite" thing to do!).

John"

Please search your inbox, and if necessary contact the DC peeps in charge of the "orders" box! And what other seasons did I NMR on? I don't recall any NMR's, but I could be wrong on that. However on the DC site you only list Germany as having any NMRs.

Dear Players,

Please check the map and orders thoroughly for mistakes. If you spot any please let me know asap.

John

I just went through the DPY file and it shows me moving or attempting to move every season I had something to do (every spring/fall, and summer/autumn/winter when applicable). Let the record show I am innocent of these vile charges!!! Smile

So with France and Germany not even playing, do they also have to vote yes to this draw for it to pass? It seems maybe we should make an exception to that rule since they have basically opted out of the game altogether.

Actually, this is a really good point. As long as they have centers, there can be no draw. If they have both stated their intention to abandon, I say we can call their countries in CD and forget about their votes, but, as per the discussion we had about proxies, this might not be possible.

Per the WB rules page...

Any single "no" vote, abstention, or NMR will cause the proposal to fail. Any country that has recorded an NMR for the last 4 consecutive spring or fall adjudications will automatically vote YES on any EGP.

I believe France is past this 4-turn threshhold.  Not sure about Germany, but your GM can confirm if he has or not.
