Dc302 Spring 1904 - psychosis1973   (Apr 19, 2010, 8:36 am)
As has been pointed out to me by one of the players, Austria's NMR for Spring 1904 is his second consecutive season with an NMR (as no remove orders were received for Winter 1903). As such, Austria should be in civil disorder. I'm going to impose this, as it's in my house rules.
As Austria only has one centre remaining, I'm not proposing to seek a replacement player.

DC280 Russian victory - ros826   (Apr 18, 2010, 7:37 pm)
Dear All,
Thanks to you, I love this game.  It's starting to feel like the needed counterpart to chess:  first play the man, then play the board (Do people do post-mortems of diplomacy games?  I imagine that might involve too much profanity and not enough variations / lines...not that I am all that good at chess either!).

Anyhow, it was great fun and I hope that no one was too irked by my play (especially not Mr. Pedicini).  I definitely got a handle of how the game should flow from the great players and GM in this game.  I look forward to being a future ally, adversary, or <gulp> fodder.  No matter what, I will try to make it fun.

To those I may have seemed to cross, I apologize.  I had to look out for the people of Austria.  Let's be honest, our egos have sucked since Austerlitz.  And we both know that whatever I may have did, you saw coming way before I did it.

Most importantly, Tsar Tim, the check arrived yesterday and cleared today!!!!  Who knew dip games could be a such a good source of supplementary income in this era?!!

Best, Ross

Even though this game is called diplomacy, the Prime Minister almost refused to engage in it and France too for that matter. Between those two I got 10 words in response max. Hats off to the Kaiser and the king of Italy who fought a good fight and played it out to the end. Apoligies to the Sultan who I think I could have worked well with. Hi all:
That was good game!
I would like to thank our first time GM who did a kick ass job and made it possible.
When I ask myself what was the most memorable thing about our game I always think about poor England who ended the first year with enemy fleets in the channel and the north sea and a German army in yorkshire. This had to be the worst start I have EVER seen for England!
And of course thanks to the ArchDuke whose support made victory possible(he he). Seriously this was Ross's first game and I think he is going to have some great games in store for him.
Anyway thanks again all and I hope to face
you all again.
Tim.

DC280 Russian victory (dc280) z93blom Apr 19, 02:30 pm
All,
First off - I suck at writing long posts about what's happened in the game. I'm getting to be senile enough so that I can't remember what happened in the game last week, let alone at the start of the game.

Second: A big thank you to Joey, our tireless GM who kept track of who had and who hadn't sent in orders in time - right up until the last turn when I was the culprit. Thank you for running this game Joey.

Third: Congratulations to Tim who managed to Solo - not something that happens everyday.
Fourth: All others - we all sucked. How could we let Tim manage to Solo?

Fifth: My position. Struck out early by the Austrian, while trying to take out the Peter the Turk. Well - we managed to take Peter out, but it cost me my position. From then on I just played to survive, which I did manage in the end. Being a puppet to Austria / Russia - they basically dictated where I should go I didn't have all that much heart in the game. We did have our internal battles though and I could have been taken out by them, but in the end I did manage to survive, although not much more.

Here are the maps for the autumn retreats.

Winter Builds are due April 21st, 17:00 CT

I have asked if we can change to recruiting but it seems that does not look like an option.  Hopefully Italy will wake up so we can have a good go of it.

I'm on a public computer today, so I don't have access to Realpolitik - so today's results are text only.  I will send an updated RP file and game map Monday morning.

The Spring 1904 deadline will be Tuesday 4/20 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.  We should be able to get back to a normal Thursday deadline for Fall 1904.

1648 091010: Deadline Schedule - charlesf   (Apr 17, 2010, 3:54 am)
Hi guys,

let me give you a heads-up as to how I mean to
handle both Harvey's (2-9 May) and Aidan's (1-16 May) absences:

    o Winter 1657 Retreats/Adjustments: 30 April
    o Spring 1658 Moves: (10) 12 May***
    o Summer 1658 Retreats: 14 May***
    o Fall 1658 Moves: (17) 19 May***

As Aidan shall be over in Susdal (Russia), he's as yet not sure whether
he'll be able to access the internet (I would think the internet café density
would be arguably higher there than in say the US, UK or Germany). I shall
view the lack of a Turkish set of orders during that time interval as an
implied request for a deadline extension. Similarly, I'll regard the
12 May deadline as being conditional on me having heard from Harvey since his
return from hospital.

So, at the very latest, the Spring 1658 Moves deadline would be on 19 May
(barring some other deadline extension requests).

I hope this course suits everyone well.

Cheers,

Charles

Well, this is interesting. Austria takes Munich in the fall of 1901, Along with the rare takeover of Greece by the Turks. I'm sorry about all the postponement, but I've been dodging in and out of contact for the last two weeks. Winter 1901 will be due Monday, April 19th at 4:00 US ET. Everyone should take a moment to study the format of the Adjudication text. It can get a little confusing if you're not careful.

GM???s remarks:

Ok people, I would like to request that you take an extra moment when you hit reply to delete the body of the previous message and/or change the subject.  I really do not need to have the adjudication sent back to me with one or two lines of your orders.  And, while most of you resent your orders if you sent them under the adjudications subject line, I have at least three sets of orders with the same subject line as my last email to you all.  You are risking an NMR if I cant find your Orders.  Thanks.

Congratulations on making it to Year 4 of Winter Blitz 2010!
