Hey all,
24ish hours left. Get em in! i still haven't heard from several of you!
And FYI, I think our plans for my son's birthday will be later in the day, so I'll most likely be able to adjucate right around normal time. So don't expect to slip any orders in after 13:00 GMT. As usual, I'll take the last orders I have from you when I begin adjucating.

Game Over! A Russian Solo Is Achieved As Russia Takes the Final 3 Centers and Defends Bulgaria and Rumania.
Congrats to Ian and All Thanks to Darryl and Nick for Playing Out Their Countries
A Game Definitely Affected by NMR's and CD's is Complete
All,
Let's take nothing away from Ian; he pulled off a solo and that is a difficult proposition regardless of circumstances. This game seemed troubled once we saw several Western power CD's. However, I still expected to see this end in a 2 or 3-way draw. I am not sure what exactly occurred that prevented A/G from working together to stop the solo but somehow Ian was able to keep that animosity alive and take advantage.
All in all an interesting game. Also proof that not all NMR's aid the nearest neighbor! Thanks to the players who held on throughout to play this game. I wish you all better luck on future games and hope that NMR's are a think of the past on our site. I know that they are top of mind for both Mike and myself; we want to find a way to reduce them.
Feel free to send end-game statements to the dc271(at)diplomaticcorp.com address.
All the best,
Garry

Agent Fresh scanned the far bank of the Vistula and cast off once again from his small dinghy. A small bucket, brimming with fish, slopped gently next to him. Despite the mystery surrounding the details of why Commander Tesarik's first army had deserted Greece; the expansion of the emerging powers in Europe had proceeded much as the League of Shadows analysts had predicted.
Of the thirtyfour states that the League had assessed might support a military, only seven now remained free from the terror which was engulfing the rest of Europe.
The industrial provinces of Warsaw and Berlin were unoccupied however, and this at least allowed Fresh the luxury of some relaxing fishing in the crisp Silesian Autumn air, as opposed to the hasty retreat he would no doubt be making, had the Kielian army chosen not to advance instead into Denmark.
Returning to his lodgings, Agent Fresh bestowed the gift of his bucket, and its' contents, to a grateful maidservant and began packing for his journey South. Once all was prepared, Fresh connected the Electric Telegram, fired up the generator and sent his subordinates' military reports directly back to Zurich. There was no need for any preamble in this report... Fresh judged that his imminent Winter offering would contain far more information for his superior, Professeur Griffe.

Dear Takers of The Peace
Thanks for keeping my job easy and supplying me with orders in a timely manner. There are a couple of you who have not been supplying prelims - please bear in mind that it makes my life even easier if you all send prelims as soon as you've seen the current map.
No retreats this turn and so our next deadline is for the Winter 1899 adjustment phase. All of you - bar Austria - have two builds each, Austria just the one.
THE DEADLINE FOR WINTER 1899 IS THIS THURSDAY AT 12NOON GMT - roughly 48 hours from now.
You will notice on the map that the Supply Centre symbols now have the owners' colour as a surround - this signifies that it is a Home Centre of that particular power and that for the rest of the game they are the only Centres each respective power may use to build new units. The colour of the province itself may change, as the game progresses and new owners assume control of it, but the colour of the supply centre symbol will remain the same.
Now that we have almost reached the traditional starting season in a standard game, you may - if you wish - choose to rename your power. This is not compulsory, but what the hell - How often do you get to rename your power? Never: Thats how often... so go ahead and have fun with it. Thanks to KenderCommander for suggesting it in the first place.
HOWEVER: Please attempt to keep your new name in line with the theme of our game and related to the provinces you own.
EG. Acceptable new names for 'Turkey' might be: The Aegean Empire, or The Republic of Constantinople. Unacceptable names for Turkey would include: The Scandinavian Alliance, or indeed: The Kingdom of Radioactive Bananas (the former because it misrepresents the current map position and the latter ...well - I'll say no more) Any proposed names which I judge to foul the flavour of our game will be ignored and the power will keep its traditional moniker.
Please don't hesitate to also include further information about the nature of your uprisings, or perhaps prominent figures in your fledgling militaries and governments. This is of course completely voluntary, but it all adds a bit of flavour to the alternate history we are forging.
I hope you are all enjoying the game so far. I'm certainly having a ball tinkering with my maps and units and am very interested to see how the board develops as we hit the turn of the century.
Now send me your Winter 1899 prelims/final orders!
Thanks again

DC302 Fall 1901 moves - psychosis1973 (Mar 02, 2010, 3:19 pm) |
Fall 1901 sees conflict escalate in Europe, with Austria and Germany coming out the worse... In the West, France helps England into Belguim...Germany takes Holland, but sees a Russian army in Berlin. Unsurprisingly Russia is bounced out of Sweden by Germany, but compensates in the South by supporting himself into Rumania, standing out an Austria attack. Austria loses Trieste to Italian forces, whilst Turkey moves into Greece.

DCI w11 builds! - FuzzyLogic (Mar 02, 2010, 12:26 pm) |
Hey all,
I've got a full slate of builds so I'll send them out now...
early in fact. And so, with a bow...
Fleets are the unit of choice for our builders
And tho you may wonder just who this bewilders
I should tell you up front that it be no suprise
put a new fleet in Brest, to light up French skies
And our Turkish delight, first build in five years
a new fleet in Smyrna, sweet music he hears
But our other two players who got to build not
came difficult choices of which guy gets shot
A choice of all choices that none wish to make
For buildery-prone players from whom others did take
So taking their build-nots and disbanding mania
The orangey-brown pull the army Albania
Along with that army to the far depts of hades
The army in Warsaw is nixed by the ladies.
So now let's move on! With high hopes and good faith
For spring of year twelve is due Monday the eighth.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Sorry 'bout that.

DC300 - Summer 1903 deadline - extended until Wedn... - bielf11 (Mar 02, 2010, 4:32 am) |
Due to the different time zones we're in I have come to realize that 24 hrs may not be enough to do what this game is all about: talking (well, writing in this case) to eachother. So I have extended the deadline for Summer 1903 with another 24 hrs.
Also for future minor turns in this game I will adopt a 48 hrs response time instead.

These fall moves cause the elimination of Turkey whose fleet in Syria
will be disbanded with the winter adjustments.
Thanks to Dave Spindler for taking over Turkey and playing it to the
end, despite things being pretty much set against Turkey already at that
point.[Reply] |
