Thank you all for waiting. I would like to welcome the reliable Ross Yaggy to the game as a replacement for France. Thanks Ross! Shouldn't be too hard of a transition because the game hasn't started yet. With that being said, here is your new deadline for Spring 1901:
DEADLINE:
The spring 1901 deadline will be ***Saturday, February 20th, 9:00pm EST*** I urge you all to send in preliminary orders as soon as you get this to avoid missing the deadline. Also, if you think you might miss the deadline, play it safe and ask for a deadline extension. I'm going with the deadline on Saturday to give you all a chance to meet the new French diplomat.

DC300 - Fall 1902 adjudication - bielf11 (Feb 15, 2010, 1:53 pm) |
Fall 1902:
a disastrous year for Austria. Although it manages to save Triest, the German forces run down the regiment in Vienna and the Russian army is more than happen to replace the Austrians in Budapest.
The English meanwhile are still trying to set foot on Nordic soil and ordered two of their fleet to Norway but the Russian armies fight them off. And apparently the Russians rather allow the Germans into Sweden than loose it to the English. An attempt by the English to take control of the North Sea fails because the Germans try the same.
The Italians have a hard time, too. Although they don't incur any losses, they loose face trying to capture Tunis, Triest and the Adriatic. Luckily they still find themselves in control of Greece, but for how long? The Turks in Bulgaria already made a dash at Greece but were bounced. They seem to be expanding into the Mediterranean but will have to share it with the Italians. Any hope for a peaceful solution?

Thank you all for waiting. I would like to welcome the reliable Ross Yaggy to the game as a replacement for France. Thanks Ross! Shouldn't be too hard of a transition because the game hasn't started yet. With that being said, here is your new deadline for Spring 1901:

-----Original Message-----
From: Nathan Deily

Subject: RE: dc291 Winter 1905 results!
Since the objective is not only to win but to amass points for sc's captured, I don't see the wisdom in accepting a draw at this juncture.
This is rather specious reasoning, because the objective is almost entire about the finish -- the SC count matters little. The point system is as follows (my highlights):
Solo:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />
20 points
2-way-draw:
15 points
3-way-draw:
12 points
4-way-draw:
10 points
5-way-draw:
8 points
6-way-draw:
6 points
Survival (or Open):
4 points
Elimination:
2 points
[u:a6aafaacc3]SC Bonus:[/u:a6aafaacc3]
[u:a6aafaacc3]+0.1 point per SC owned[/u:a6aafaacc3]
Max score:
21.8 points per round
A Two-Way draw nets you 15 points. Additional supply centers are only 0.1 points per dot. This is a high-risk, low-reward format for continuing the game, as you risk losing the two-way draw just to improve your score by, what, half a point? By the time you add five SCs to your stash, might you not be in danger of Turkey having a huge jump on you and going for the solo? He has the Austrian and Russian toadies in hand who are going to beat you to the punch in Germany -- what do you have that makes you so confident Turkey will still vote for a two-way draw three or four years down the line?
You are risking much to gain very little, my friend...[Reply] |

All,Apologies. I am
copied on a lot of adjudications and did not read this one
close enough to realize that Cory needed help this turn.
Thus our Winter builds are way behind. I checked the orders
box and we are missing one set of build orders from the
orders box unfortunately.
Our Fall retreat of the A in Gal went OTB.
Additionally our removes were:
France - remove A
PicItaly - remove F
ADRGermany - remove F
SKA
Our builds
were:
England - F Edi, A
LonAustria - A
BudTurkey - no builds in the orders
box
WE ALSO HAVE AN EGP. A TWO-WAY DRAW BETWEEN
TURKEY AND ENGLAND HAS BEEN PROPOSED. All others would
receive survival (and thus would get some tournament
points).
Please vote on the draw proposal with your
Spring 1906 orders. We will keep Cory's deadline for
tomorrow and he should be back to run your turn. You should
have all the remainder of today and all day tomorrow because
Cory usually runs afternoon
deadlines.

Lots of turnover in
center control this season all over the map.
England gains control of Denmark and also holds on to
Sweden after a 3-way bounce. Germany attempts to take
Belgium, but the French defenders hold their ground.
England overcomes French defense and sails into Brest, while
French defenders stymie the Turkish-supported Russian attack
on Marseilles. Turkey guesses correctly (or Italy guesses
incorrectly) and sails unopposed into Rome. Italy attempts
to support Austria's move to Budapest that would leave
Italy in control of Vienna, but Turkey crashes the party by
moving from Rumania to Galicia with Russian support, leaving
Russia in control of Rumania.
There is one autumn retreat due from Italy. Marc, I
won't issue a default order because you
have multiple retreat options:
The Italian army in Galicia may retreat to Bohemia,
Silesia, or OTB.
Winter adjustments will be due as follows:
Austria: build 1
England: build 2
France: remove 1
Germany: remove 1
Italy: remove 2 (or remove 1 if retreat
OTB)
Turkey: build 1
Both the autumn retreat and winter adjustments will be
due tomorrow, Friday 2/12 at 3pm Central (US) /
21:00 GMT. You may submit conditional adjustment
orders based on the Italian retreat.
It is very likely that I will be away for both this
turn and the spring 1906 moves on Monday, as both of these
days are state holidays. Normally, I would be stuck at
work during these holidays attempting to balance the
state's budget, but our Governor signed a bill today
that delays the budget's due date. No offense to the
Diplomacy community, but I plan not to be at my work
computer so I can enjoy these days off that I rarely get to
see. Garry or Mike will take care of business in my
absence - PLEASE be sure to cc: the Orders box.
Thanks!
Cory

DC280 winter 1906 adjudications - bobbarkerfan1 (Feb 14, 2010, 9:31 pm) |
Hey everyone,
Sorry about all of that. Hectic week. People are starting to get a little sloppy with deadlines now, three missed deadlines in same turn. Mark, Tim and Jeff are all without their grace periods, so be extra careful. I suggest that all of you send me preliminary orders as soon as you get each deadline, to avoid missing the deadline. If you want to change your orders later just send them in, or extend the deadline if you need to. With that being said, here are the orders:
ADJUSTMENTS:
France:
Build waived
Germany:
Remove F Helgoland Bight
Remove F Yorkshire
Russia:
Build A Warsaw
DEADLINE:
The spring 1907 deadline will be set for ***Friday, February 19th, 9:00pm EST*** if this doesn't work for anyone let me know. Going with a shorter time period to compensate for the long winter, and hopefully with it right around the corner you will keep it in your minds and not miss the deadline.
