DC289: 24h Warning - Rocketship (Jan 22, 2010, 1:40 am) |
Well...
We have orders from almost all players, but no word from Turkey.
I don't think I can really be anymore lenient, so I think we need to go ahead and look for a replacement. Once we find one, I think I'll allow another week for negotiations (and I'll still accept orders from all of you) before the Spring 1901 deadline.
I apologize for the delay.

Hi Folks,
Deadline has passed and I'm still missing orders from Austria and Turkey. I'm giving another 24 hours (without invoking their one-time 24hour grace period, because I'm a nice guy). If I'm still missing orders, then I'll have to seek a new player.
Sorry for the delay.

Dc 277: Adjudication postponed - AlanRFarrington (Jan 21, 2010, 9:38 pm) |
So I've been busy blitzing away, and doing other things as well and forgot that the adjudication was due Wednesday (not Thursday or Friday). Still waiting on a couple sets of orders so we've entered a grace period.
If I still dont have orders by Midnight GMT tomorrow I"ll adjudicate anyway. Sorry for the delay (I hope one of my games ends soon!!!)

GM’s remarks:
Right . . . so, here is the tricky part. I need both the Retreats and everyone’s Builds/Disbands by the deadline tomorrow.
Retreats are still considered to have occurred prior to the builds/disbands. Therefore, contingency orders are allowed with regards to the retreats (i.e. build this unit if the retreat is to this province, else build this other unit). However, due to all builds/disbands happing simultaneously, contingency orders *cannot* be based on someone else’s build or disband (i.e. build this unit if someone builds that unit, otherwise build a different unit). Any contingency orders based on someone else’s builds/disbands will be ignored and *no* unit will be built due to the confusion of the supply lines in support of the unit production. If a disband was required and a contingency order was given, then the disband will be the same as if the country was in Civil Disorder (i.e. the unit furthers from a home supply center is removed first, then in alphabetical order of all units furthers but equal distant from a home supply center).
I hope that was clear. If not, please ask and I will try to be more specific with realistic examples tailored to your country. However, the deadline will be enforced. So, please provide a build/disband order, even if you feel my explanation above was as clear as mud. Thanks.

DC292 Fall 1902 Adjudication - Samnuva (Jan 21, 2010, 6:43 pm) |
Ah, Diplomacy. Nothing but unending surprises. Munich falls to the
Italians, and Norway to the British. In the Black Sea region, we have
a rather bizarre situation, involving a void support and a massive
bounce-off. Winter 1902 orders are due Friday the 21st at 7:00 ET. If
the three adjusting players mark their orders as "FINAL," I WILL
adjudicate early. I'll be on a trip tomorrow, so I'll try to get them
out at 7, but If I have everything earlier, that might be helpful.
Enough with my yapping, adjustments due are:
England Build 1
Italy Build 1
Germany Eliminate 1

dc291 fall 1902 results! - coryfucius (Jan 21, 2010, 5:20 pm) |
There's plenty of action to summarize this turn, particularly on the eastern front.
Both Italy and Russia pick off Austrian home centers, while Austria sails into Venice. Turkey gains the Ionian Sea and self-bounces in Austrian-controlled Serbia. Russia and Turkey once again battle to a standstill in the Black Sea. Germany moves eastward out of Berlin.
Meanwhile, in the west, English fleets steam toward French waters, and a French attack on Belgium is thwarted due to German support for the English army. However, England and Germany find themselves in a standoff battle in Scandinavia, as a Russian fleet makes its approach. Germany's fleet takes control of previously neutral Sweden.
A total of three units are dislodged, but only one will live to see another day:
The Austrian army in Budapest has no valid retreats and is destroyed. The Austrian army in Vienna has no valid retreats and is destroyed.
The Italian army in Venice may retreat to Apulia, Piedmont, Rome, Tuscany, Tyrolia, or OTB.
Marc, since your army has so many retreat options, I will leave it up to you to decide in the autumn retreat phase.
Winter adjustments will be due as follows:
Germany: build 1
Russia: build 1
Although Archduke Laurence controls 3 centers, Austria does not have an open home center in which to build, so that build will be banked.
Both the autumn 1902 retreat and the winter 1902 builds will be due at the same time. The deadline is tomorrow, Friday 1/22 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT. Because there is an autumn retreat due, contingent adjustment orders may be submitted.
Thanks, everyone!
Cory

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"

Hey guys... so we're off to a bit of a rocky start here. For the second season in a row we're one set short of full orders. Just like last time, I'm going to give until 11pm CST tonight for that set to get in and if it's not in, I'll open the spot up for others to fill. Thanks to everyone else for getting them in early.
Once again, if you haven't been getting personal emails from me requesting the orders, it isn't you.

Blitzers,
As you have probably noticed, I have replied to you all with "my" interpretation of your orders. I do this primarily to keep my mistakes in this game to a minimum (or at least catch them before you all know of them). Do take the time to look through the orders and see if they match what you think you ordered - it will help both you and me keep the game moving.
That said, we have our first NMR this season. Italian units stay where they are, but no lasting harm is done to them. We'll see how they fare the next year. Joshua, if you have sent me orders, please get in contact.
We also have a retreat that is due:
German A Silesia can retreat to Berlin, or OTB.
Since this is the winter blitz, the builds are also due:
Austria: Build 1
Germany: Build 1 (or 2 if the retreat is OTB).
Turkey: Remove 1
Remember that you can make the builds/disbands conditional depending on the retreat that is due.
Next turn: Autumn 1902 Retreats & Winter 1902 Builds/Disbands
Next Deadline: Friday (tomorrow), 22th of January 2010, 19:00 GMT (7PM).

Awesome! Everyone got moves in, sometimes multiple sets, and all with plenty of time to spare! Thanks guys! Next deadline is Late Fall/Winter, tomorrow at 9:00 AM CST (3:00 PM GMT?).
Again, a pretty crazy move this turn! England manages to get *both* Germany and Sweden to support him into Nwy and lots of stuff happening in the balkans, including our first dislodgement! I took the liberty of retreating Rum-Bla (the only other option is off the board, Nick, let me know if you'd prefer that). The retreat isn't due until the same time as the winter phase, so if any of you want to make conditional builds based on what Russia decides, that is completely acceptable. By the good grace of God, Scott Brown or Martha Coakley, I finally found a judge that works on my computer. So these adjuds will no longer take forever.
Also, this map shows Athens having two coast. This is simply not true, ignore it. AND, there was an error on the map I sent out that no one caught. the Egyptian unit in Thebes was a fleet. The problem is now corrected, but the old map is wrong.
Check for errors, new deadline is 1/27 at 5 PM.

In addition to the programs Mike mentioned you could use GIMP. Contrary to most of the other programs this is free, opensource and platform independent. While it does offer very sophisticated tools.
I have used it for my variant of Viking and Scorched Earth. As for some of the Fog of War games.
