Hi Y'all! This was quite an interesting turn. Austria and England
have both order invalid supports, Austria has a massive bounce-off to
get an army into Albania, and support efforts by France and Turkey
prove un-needed. We also have our first NMR. Our Kaiser has neglected
to send in orders this turn, and unfortunately, this being the Winter
Blitz, I don't have time to hunt him down. Sorry, Mike, but all your
units hold. Fall 1902 Orders are due Exactly when you think they are:

Blitzers,
I don't know what it is with me and the French territories. I seem to botch up orders in those territories all the time. This time the Parisian Army was ordered to Gascony, not Burgundy. There wasn't any lasting damage though, since the move didn't affect any other orders. Please accept my sincere apologies and note the new position on the included map/realpolitik file.

Blitzers,
Thank you for all the orders. You all managed once again to supply orders in time - great. The game is much more balanced when everyone submits orders.
This season we have a retreat that is needed, but since there is only one unit to retreat, only one province to retreat it to, and I already have orders for the unit, I have gone ahead and retreated the Turkish Bulgarian unit into Constantinople. Maria, if you'd rather retreat OTB (Off The Board), please tell me before tomorrow.

DC 293: Readjudication - AceRimmer (Jan 18, 2010, 3:52 pm) |
I hope you are sufficiently confused by the subject line... so let me obfuscate a little bit more.
In reviewing player order sets today, I have happened across the following:
"A Bel S Ber-Pic"
What I adjudicated was:
"A Bel S BRE-Pic"
I know that the Blitz adheres to strict rules on interpretation. So, I have conferred with the DC Mods. And I am readjudicating. I apologize for this error and anything else associated with it. Let me acknowledge in advance that is a damnably frustrating thing to see one adjudication that you like only to have it swapped out for something less desirable, especially if you feel there is an overzealous interpretation of rules. All I can offer in the way of guidance is: you may wish to type out entire province names from here on so that there can be no risk of misinterpretation.
In the changed adjudication, the French army in Picardy moves successfully to Brest. The English fleet disbands for lack of adequate retreat options. There are still no retreats. F1902 orders will be due Thursday at 10:00 a.m. CST.

DC 293: Spring 1902 Adjudication - AceRimmer (Jan 18, 2010, 10:23 am) |
No retreats this season! No NMRs. Units bounced in four separate locations... three of them involving the Russians (yeah, your units didn't move anywhere). In addition, there were several failed moves, mostly on account of congestion in the Balkans. Like Sherlock Holmes, many of you can already deduce from the information given whether this was a good season or a bad season. So, now the table is set for F1902. Greece, Portugal, and Sweden all remain unclaimed and unoccupied. Using my own Holmesian powers of deduction, I already know what will happen this Fall, but the rules of this tournament say I have to wait until Thursday to disclose it all. [Oh, and if you're interested in Holmes, might I humbly suggest that you read the original Conan Doyle stories and not waste your money at the theater?]
Fall 1902 orders due Thursday at 1000 a.m. CST!

DC 298 Spring 02 adjucation - untitled36 (Jan 18, 2010, 7:47 am) |
Last time the WB peeps responded almost immediately to my question, but this time it appears it will be a little longer delay. Therefore I'm going to adjucate, and if I hear back from the WB people, or if the NMRS prove to me they sent orders in, we will correct as necessary. Sound good? Great!
Well, this was a crazy interesting turn, with several bounces, convoys that never materialized, and so forth. I thought I had a good idea who was allied with whom, but now I'm just scratching my head trying to figure it out! And then France and Italy both NMR. So of the entire western side of the board, even including italy, only two units actually move (both german).
Well, you didn't sign up for this to listen to my blathering! You just want the moves! Here they are, just remember moves are due Thursday -at- 7:00 AM cst (13:00 GMT). See you then!

.ExternalClass DIV {;} Folks,
I made a mistake in the latest adjudication. Nick submitted a hold order quite a while before the adjudication, which I apparently never entered into RealPolitik or my deadline matrix. I'd like to apologize to Nick, and note that this is not an NMR, but also does not affect the adjudication. Thanks to Nick for sticking with us til the bitter end (despite the GM's inattention).

Once again, I don't have a complete set. I sent a message to check with the WB head honchos to see if they have anything in the orders box. Hopefully adjucation will follow soon.

Dc: Looking for GMs - AlanRFarrington (Jan 18, 2010, 1:10 am) |
Dc Moderators have been plugging for GMs to stand up and run some games. It appears that most of the hardcore dippers have refused to take on another game because of the Winter Blitz (at least that's my excuse). If any of you have prior GMing experience and want to step up again, or if you're just a first timer feel free to contact me and I"ll get you right into a standard game.
Thanks,
Alan Farrington

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."[Reply] |
