dc278 - Fall 1904 Results - z93blom (Dec 14, 2009, 1:50 pm) |
Warmongers,
The continued pressure on the three smaller remaining powers continues as the summer turns into fall. Russia and Italy take a beating, while the Germans are the next power to leave us.
We have lots of retreats this season, so I'll do a turn with only the retreats. Builds are coming up next. If I receive a full set of orders marked as final by tomorrow I'll do the adjudication then, otherwise we'll wait until Wednesday.
German A Berlin can retreat to Silesia.
Italian A Munich can retreat to Silesia or Bohemia or Tyrolia.
Italian F Tunis can retreat to North Africa or Western

All,
My wife tells me that she's having problems sending mail to my normal mail address - they are bouncing somewhere, and I have received suspiciously few orders this season, so I suspect that some of you may be having the same problems.
If you have received a confirmation from me you're fine. Otherwise, please resubmit your orders to this address:
blom.fredrik(at)gmail.com (blom.fredrik(at)gmail.com)
I'm extending the deadline for dc278 by a day in order to get orders. Those of you who do not need to think about retreat - start thinking about the builds - you can sent them in already if you know what you plan to build. I'll try to make the next turn (builds) due by Friday, to keep the game moving.
German A Berlin can retreat to Silesia.
Italian A Munich can retreat to Silesia or Bohemia or Tyrolia.
Italian F Tunis can retreat to North Africa or Western
Mediterranean.
Russian A Warsaw can retreat to Prussia or Livonia or Ukraine.
Next turn: Autumn 1904 Retreats
Next Deadline: Thursday, 17th of December, 19:00 GMT (7PM).

DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Summer 14 - A New S... - garry.bledsoe (Dec 14, 2009, 10:16 am) |
All,First I apologize for three things:
1. You are now stuck with me as your GM. I doubt that I can be anything approaching as clever as Trout.
2. The tardiness of this email. It was a long weekend.
3. That I do not have a map to attach with the retreats. I could not get Trout's game file to open so I have contacted him regarding that so I hope to have that resolved soon.
Those things aside, I wanted to go ahead and send out our retreats and set us up for a deadline for the Fall. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE ON THE OGRE/TROLL EGP!!
Fall deadline: Monday December 21st at 6pm CST [2300 GMT].
As another caution, please make sure that you get confirmation from me of your orders. I typically am good and it and probably have all of you already confirmed but I don't want to get tripped up by you getting blocked. If I have confirmed, you are good...if not, you might want to try sending me a note through the 224 message board that you got blocked!
Oh...ha! Our retreats:
A Tumnus retreats to Calormen
A Candlekeep retreats to Yuirwood
NEW SHERIFF
I am pleased to announce that Max Victory will be taking over my renegade band of Elves until the Ogres finally manage to squeeze them out. It is the VERY same Max that was a Wizard not to long ago and he is copied on this email. Feel free to contact him and negotiate with him regarding Elvish guerilla warfare. He is officially the new Sheriff of the Elves so that I can take over duties as GM here.
Well, that should cover us. Please let me know if you have any questions or there is something I have omitted. Oh...and thanks for taking me on as your fearless GM.
Garry

Subject: DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Spring 14 - Big Changes

Heya folks,
Several announcements to make with the Spring 14 turn. The action itself is hot and furious as the Rogues pound the Knights back but are themselves drenched all over by the tree-thumping Trolls. The Faeries continue to stand on Sendic's Bridge in the Dragonsteeth Mountains, authoritatively telling the Ogres that YOU SHALL NOT PASS! And in the south, some interesting moves suggest infinite possibilities...
Two retreats come out of all that - one for the Pirates, the other for the Rogues. Deadline for Summer 14 retreats will be set for Saturday, December 12th (11:59 PM GMT).
Which brings us to our announcements:
1. I am a horrible GM and completely omitted mentioning a draw proposal that surfaced during the Autumn turn in year 13. An Ogre/Troll draw has been proposed. Votes yay or nay can be sent in with Fall 14 orders.
2. With regret, I have to announce that I am resigning as GM of this game. I would sincerely love to see it all play out, but owing to several personal matters I cannot be the GM that you players deserve. Luckily, a fine (and some would say better) substitute has stepped forward in the form of Garry Bledsoe.
Garry will resign the Elves position, turn it over to a replacement which he has already found, and take over the reigns from me as of this turn. All further orders for this game can be sent to him - Garry's email is <kielmarch AT hotmail DOT com>.
Its been my pleasure and honour running this board for you fine players. My sincerest apologies for leaving the game with it still on-going, but I know that you remain in very good hands.
Very best regards,
Trout

DC267 Winter 2014 Results - MattTheLesser (Dec 13, 2009, 12:19 am) |
Well it's not over yet, but it's damn close as Denmark is now at 13
centers, one short of a solo. Canada is doing his best to make a push
as he how has 9, and amazingly, our once board leader Russia has
dropped, pending a retreat, all the way to 2. And the Norwegian and
American fleets are still alive...quite the accomplishments in and of
themselves.
There are two retreats, both from Russia. A Laptev Sea may retreat to
East Siberian Sea, Pevek, or OTB, and A Yakutsk may retreat to Magadan,
Pevek, or the Trans-Siberian Railroad.
Also, there is yet again a proposal for a Danish solo. Please send me
your votes for this proposal and, if necessary, your retreats and/or
adjustments (see below adjudication), by this Monday, December 14, at 9
pm eastern. Lately proposals have been failing because people have not
been voting; please make sure to vote this time!

Hey guys... just thought I'd let you know that my computer is being used in a place where it cannot be connected to the internet. Thus, I am unable to put maps together. Also the SUPPLY CENTER OWNERSHIP for England is incorrect.
The map seems to be correct, however, but at this point I can't be certain.

Charles -
Are there errors here?? I have just taken a very quick look at the SUPPLY CENTER OWNERSHIP numbers, and at the map. At least in regard to Denmark there is clearly an error.
Please clarify.
Thanks.

Well, suffice to say that the issue I earlier alluded to has been resolved and so we're back on track.
As for this season, I guess there's the odd newsworthy nugget in there though as a whole it may have been a more straightforward winter than in previous years.
Regarding the holidays, our last adjucation this year shall be the Fall 1652 Moves on 23 December. I've scheduled the following Winter 1652 Retreats/Adjustments for 1 January 2010. I hope this suits everyone?
Anyway, preliminary Spring 1652 orders are due no later than 14 December, 6 PM CET (GMT+1).
Frohes Wochenende!

would it be possible to get a statement on this... Also, there should have been a removal of a danish unit that wasn't mentioned in the press (although it appears to be missing from the map but the paranoid DP voice in my head would like some confirmation

DC 281 Fall 1902 - psychosis1973 (Dec 11, 2009, 3:35 pm) |
Fall 1902 sees the first real clashes across the map, with a Turkish army taking Sevastopol thanks to Austria getting involved in Ukraine. Russia compensates in the North by taking Norway from England, whilst in the west, England and France continue their dance. England sees a convoy fail, whilst in the south Italy and Austria continue to face off over Trieste and Vienna.
Unfortunately, this turn saw our first NMR - Germany didn't submit orders by the deadline, so all their forces hold. This is Germany's first NMR, and a second NMR will see them declared as being in civil disorder, and a replacement player may be sought. Can I remind folk of the important of submitting preliminaries to avoid close to the deadline problems?
First retreats of the game are needed this turn...can we have these by Monday 14th at 2100 GMT from England and Russia please. I'd look to be getting Winter adjustments in by Wednesday 16th, but if the retreats are in early, I may be able to make the winter deadline for Tuesday.

Hi guys,
it looks like we may not be back on track after all. I shall have to evaluate how to deal with what looks like a most unhappy situation and shall be back in touch once that matter has been resolved one way or another. In any case, a winter adjucation may not be immediately forthcoming.

Hi guys,
I'm afraid Mike failed to meet the deadline. This
means I shall have to find a replacement player.
I appreciate Mike stepping in as a replacement and regret having to take
this step.

It's been fun guys. Sorry that I was about 2 hours late in getting my moves to Charles. I was busy at work prepping for a huge roll-out, and I never hit the Send button on the email with my retreat and build.
Good Luck with the rest of the game.

Charles,
given the likelihood that there would be a significant delay in recruiting a third austria, could we please have a vote on a draw proposal or proposals by the current players?
I suggest three way Poland-Turkey-France, given that these three countries are of a similar size, and significantly larger than the remaining three. It would be nice to draw the game to an end, rather than await a newcomer to a complex situation.

Guys -
My two cents on all this. I have already indicated to Charles that I vote YES on either a Poland-France-Turkey draw or a Poland-Turkey draw. In fact, I am prepared to vote YES on any draw proposal (Charles, please consider this a standing YES vote on any proposal, unless I specifically vote NO on something). As I said to one of my college girlfriends (oh, those many, many years ago), "This was great for a long time, but now it isn't; so bye bye baby".

Harvey, you could be right. Or maybe its that the King of England and Scotland does so, rather than the Lord Protector.
However, I think it may be a more self-castigating flagellating approach: a English-French-Polish-Turkish draw. (Which would be ok by me.)
I mean His Most Catholic majesty helping the Turks into Rome - that must be more than 3 hail Marys and an Our Father. Excluding himself from the draw seems like the penance he wants.

Hi guys,
please apologise the longer absence of your GM. I'm
still in Greece as we extended our stay here both in order to avoid the strike
waves here in Greece impeding our travel home and also since we wanted to extend
our stay here anyway. Given changed plans, being on a yacht or in countryside
unfortunately meant "no internet" and hence only now I'm able to catch up on
Diplo-matters, being back in the capital. In hindsight, I ought to have not
overoptimistically attempted to schedule a deadline during my holiday. Live and
learn. In any case, I'm flying back home tomorrow morning.
As my inbox filled up, I may have missed a set of
orders. I'll shortly confirm all orders I've received. Should you not receive a
confirmation of your latest orders shortly, please resend. On account of this
issue, I'm rescheduling the coming winter deadline for Monday, 6PM.
Greetings from Athens,
Charles |

Guys,
I'm afraid I misclicked while doing the adjucation. Poland did NOT order "A Crimea - Moldavia" as the written orders summary would indicate. I spotted my snafu and corrected the .dpy file and map image accordingly, yet forgot to correct the written orders. I apologise for my absentmindedness and corrected this further below.
I'm afraid I also forgot to remind you that any Keppler predictions can be altered right up to the winter adjucation publication.
Well, I hope that covers it.
Happy Thanksgiving to those on the yonder side of the pond!
Charles

Grüß Gott!
the entire former Danish sphere of influence has now witnessed major changes. The two Northern crowns are now at loggerheads, while the Commonwealth has gained a foothold on the continent. Farther in the East, the Swedens and Poles are engaging in manoeuvre warfare.
French troops now control the entire Po valley, whereas the Sultan finally took the fortress-island of Malta.
Retreats/Adjustments are due on Friday. Denmark's retreat may affect adjustments, so take not that you can condition any of your adjustments on what the Danish army does.
Liebe Grüsse,
Charles

Guys,
I'm afraid I misclicked while doing the adjucation.

[quote:d0c08fffce]
Grüß Gott!
the entire former Danish sphere of influence has now witnessed major changes.
Liebe Grüsse,
Charles

DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Spring 14 - Big Cha... - offdisc (Dec 11, 2009, 12:52 pm) |
Thanks for all your hard work Trout!
Wait, what? Elves are running the show now? Oh CR*P!!! Ok, ok,
settle down... this isn't as bad as it looks.
But if Winter 14 turns out with Elves +14 centers and Ogres owing
everybody an Army, a Fleet, and their first-born, I may have to raise
a protest!
Thanks for stepping in Garry. Next time, I'll think more carefully
about who I stab.

Guys,
I'm afraid I misclicked while doing the adjucation.

Liebe Grüsse,
Charles

Correct, I inadvertently sent off an old adjucation, sorry about that.
But as said, there's an unfortunate issue that first needs resolving.
