DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Spring 14 - Big Cha... - former.trout   (Dec 11, 2009, 12:01 am)
Heya folks,

Several announcements to make with the Spring 14 turn.  The action itself is hot and furious as the Rogues pound the Knights back but are themselves drenched all over by the tree-thumping Trolls.  The Faeries continue to stand on Sendic's Bridge in the Dragonsteeth Mountains, authoritatively telling the Ogres that YOU SHALL NOT PASS!  And in the south, some interesting moves suggest infinite possibilities...

Two retreats come out of all that - one for the Pirates, the other for the Rogues.  Deadline for Summer 14 retreats will be set for Saturday, December 12th (11:59 PM GMT).

Which brings us to our announcements:

1.  I am a horrible GM and completely omitted mentioning a draw proposal that surfaced during the Autumn turn in year 13.  An Ogre/Troll draw has been proposed.  Votes yay or nay can be sent in with Fall 14 orders.

2.  With regret, I have to announce that I am resigning as GM of this game.  I would sincerely love to see it all play out, but owing to several personal matters I cannot be the GM that you players deserve.  Luckily, a fine (and some would say better) substitute has stepped forward in the form of Garry Bledsoe.

Garry will resign the Elves position, turn it over to a replacement which he has already found, and take over the reigns from me as of this turn.  All further orders for this game can be sent to him - Garry's email is <kielmarch AT hotmail DOT com>.

Its been my pleasure and honour running this board for you fine players.  My sincerest apologies for leaving the game with it still on-going, but I know that you remain in very good hands.

Very best regards,

Trout

DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Spring 14 - Big Changes (dc224) offdisc Dec 11, 12:52 pm
Thanks for all your hard work Trout!

Wait, what? Elves are running the show now? Oh CR*P!!! Ok, ok,
settle down... this isn't as bad as it looks.

But if Winter 14 turns out with Elves +14 centers and Ogres owing
everybody an Army, a Fleet, and their first-born, I may have to raise
a protest! Smile

Thanks for stepping in Garry. Next time, I'll think more carefully
about who I stab. Smile

I think the logo is marvelous, and I wouldn't want to change it. In fact, the only issue I have with color schemes is in the adjudications page -- I think it's blue text on a red background? I find it hard to read. But otherwise, I'm content with the site. Then again, I'm sure there's an artist in the club capable of designing something eye-popping.

DC 262: Angstskrik - Spring 832 Adjudication - Kenshi777   (Dec 10, 2009, 6:15 pm)
Honored Kings of the Dark Ages:

The bitter cold of fall is here (winter here in Dallas, I'm freezing
my tail off lately), as we bid a sad farewell to our Norse player,
Scott. The remaining Norse centers have been captured, without
available retreat to open SCs. Scott - thanks for playing, please do
submit an EOG statement, your thoughts on the game are most welcome.

The Danes claimed the greatest share of the Norse dots, and advanced
at sea to surround the critical North Sea position on all fronts. On
the opposite side, defenders set sail under three flags to defend the
Scottish claim to the high seas. The Anglo-Saxons lay claim to
Mercia, but the Scots end the season even with the capture of Zetland.

The only retreat that isn't forcibly disbanded is Norse F Trondelag,
which has no open SCs, and must disband in the winter, so we will
proceed straight away to the Winter Adjustments, due Monday, December
14th, 1700 EST.

We also have a 4-way draw proposal this season (a DIAS). Please
submit your votes, along with your winter adjustments. (send a vote
even if you don't have a winter adjustment please!)

No retreats needed, so we move straight to the next deadline for
Fall 832, which will be Thursday, December 10th at 1700 EST.

1926 091119: Winter 1927 Moves - charlesf   (Dec 10, 2009, 5:26 pm)
Grüß Gott!

Both Stalin and the Duce sought to compensate for lost momentum by occupying a lesser neighbour, yet both the Magyars and Finns proved to be of tougher mettle. Further west, the Netherland's managed to secure enough German aid to face off British aggression. Only one lesser power got the worse of it, as an Anglo-French expedition quickly put an end to Egypt's shortlived independence (gained only in 1922). So all-in-all, a decent season for the wee nations. As for some of the other major developments, I'll refer you to the below.

I've now added the message board email adress to the distribution list, so that from now onwards, adjucations shall also be posted in that venue. Should have started doing so earlier, but better late than never...

I've been asked about the 1926 Realworld module I'm using. I just yesterday discovered to critical bugs I had overlooked earlier. So I guess I could send a copy to those who want it, but there's no knowing whether any bugs remain. Stupid me hadn't even defined Yugoslavia's adjacencies, which meant any unit in Yugo wouldn't budge! Good thing I'm no programmer, cuz I'd probably write horribly buggy code.

Anyway since there are no pending retreats, preliminary fall orders are due no later than 15 December 6 PM CET.

Liebe Grüsse,

Charles

27 hours until the deadline (which is 2100 GMT, Friday 11th), and only three sets of orders in. I suggest rulers get on the telegram to their armies and fleets to ensure they don't end up sitting on their rear ends whilst hostile forces pounce!

Guys,
Sorry once again for being behind the curve. If this was "The Weakest Link", I think I'd be off the show by now. This season is marred by misorders and border misunderstandings. Also, we have a draw proposal on the table. Please vote by the fall deadline.

"A government which changes often, according to the caprice of the one or the other faction, can never be good, and consequently never can secure to itself the goodwill and attachment of its citizens." - Niccoló Machiavelli, The Discourses. 1517

Time to change the sheets? - FuzzyLogic   (Dec 09, 2009, 9:58 am)
Your room always looks so nice after a fresh set of sheets go on the bed right? With the corners all tucked and a pattern you havent seen for a while, it looks new - comfy - and refreshing... Well dc has had our same look and feel since we went live. Not to suggest we dont change our sheets -- but we've had the same dark blue & red colors for so long. Is it time for a new look?

Are there any artists out there who could help w some new graphics, color schemes, or layout? Our logo is pretty primary-color based - red white blue yellow... should we keep that? Do we want something more original?

Just looking for ideas...
-mike

I think the logo is marvelous, and I wouldn't want to change it. In fact, the only issue I have with color schemes is in the adjudications page -- I think it's blue text on a red background? I find it hard to read. But otherwise, I'm content with the site. Then again, I'm sure there's an artist in the club capable of designing something eye-popping.

If a GM gets it going [and they permit me as a newbie to join a second game], I'll sign up.

One question, probably stupid, but here goes --

In Standard version, I set up the board and the old wooden pieces from my game I got YEARS ago...it helps me visualize things better...can one get a board somewhere for Youngstown?

Not my finest adjudication as two more errors to the map have been
brought to my attention. There is a Danish fleet in Tromso and the unit
in Northwest Greenland is an army, not a fleet. The corrected map is

Attenzione, attenzione! Vistoso stato trasmissione! We would like to alert all Western powers of the operating status of our transmission towers. They are fully functional and awaiting your call. Operators are bored as hell and standing by. Italian alliance now 50% off, cooperation a staggering 85% off. We have a grand history of conquering everything in sight. Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar, Charlemagne if he was actually Holy Roman. Remember those crusades? Want the good old days of murderin' and pillagin', and without any worry of "international backlash?" So do we! Unless you don't. Then screw the old days, we welcome the future! Whatever it is you want, we'll also tell you we want! It's just that simple. Input desires, output results!
