dc278 - Spring 1902 Results - z93blom (Nov 11, 2009, 1:51 am) |
Gentlemen,
Apologies for not getting this out last night.
The spring movement has been adjudicated, and just looking at it makes my head hurt. I wonder what is going on - I can't for the life of me figure out what everyone is thinking. I'll leave the analysis to you. Despite all the movement across the board there are no retreats, and we'll move on into the Fall Movement of 1902.
Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible. Please let me know if you plan on being away or if you want an extended deadline.
Next Deadline: Saturday, 14th of November, 00 AM GMT. This is later than the usual deadline - I will not adjudicate until Saturday morning in Sweden.

Is there any chance you indicate on your deadlines what the expected orders are?
That is to say. "retreats and disband are due" or my favorite "Spring 1902 moves are due by"
It makes for less confussion and in my old age I need all the help I can get.
thanks,

Good afternoon my Diplomats,
A happy GM is has for once received all orders before the time has run out. Keep up the good work.
Once again I'm confounded by all the movement across the board, although quite a lot of the movement failed to happen. I'm not going to analyze the situation, instead leaving the analysis up to you.
For the summer we have one retreat that is needed - the Italian Fleet stationed in Tunis needs to retreat. Tony, I've retreated the Fleet to the Ionian. If you'd rather retreat to North Africa or OTB, please let us know by 19:00 GMT Wednesday, otherwise the retreat stands.
Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible. Please let me know if you plan on being away or if you want an extended deadline.
Next turn: Summer 1903 Retreat (Only Tony/Italy)
Next Deadline: Wednesday, 25th of November, 19:00 GMT (7PM).
You can send in preliminaries for the fall movement starting now. Make them conditional if you want to.

Good afternoon,
I made an error while adjudicating. The Marseille army was not ordered inland, instead it was ordered into Piedmont. This has slight implications for where some units will be located for the Fall movement. The following adjustments have been made:
France A Marseilles to Piedmont - *Bounce*
Italy A Venice to Piedmont - *Bounce*
England A Belgium to Burgundy - Success
Please see attached maps and RealPolitik file for changes.
The upcoming orders will still be due as before:

First of all, thank you all today for your patience. I was out of office all day long.
Second, *sniff* I want you to know *sniff* that I will never be proud... *ahem* *sniff* I will never be... *waaaaughh* I will never be prouder of you than I am today. I introduced Mike to the group. I told you to be friendly and to stab him. And bless my soul if those aren't daggers I see in Moscow and Afghanistan. You are beautiful, beautiful people. Mike, it's up to you to make them regret it. I know you can do it.
The Persian army in Afghanistan now understands the moniker: Graveyard of Empires. With no retreats open, it goes to its grave. The Indian fleet in Persian Gulf, with only one retreat open to it, goes to Iraq. Let me know if you want to disband, Ross.
And all of this sets up F1908 next Tuesday, November 17th, at 10:00 a.m. CST.

DC267 More Issues - MattTheLesser (Nov 10, 2009, 12:30 pm) |
The proposal for a Danish solo has been voted down. Therefore I will
post the open Russian position on the DC site and hopefully we'll have
it filled soon. In the meantime there is a proposal for a draw between
Canada and Denmark. As usual I will post the results of this as soon as
I have votes from all necessary parties (which in this case are the four
active players only). Bill's second NMR (on the retreat phase) will
also be officially recorded, and those units will be disbanded, so the
map remains the same. I will announce the deadline for Summer 2014 as
soon as we have a new Russia.
Matt
Matt Kremer wrote:
So I never received retreats from Bill; in fact, I haven't heard from
him at all since the initial retreats he sent me. Thus, I am inclined
to look for another replacement. However, there is an end-game
proposal on the table. Therefore I would appreciate it if you all
would send me your votes now (if you haven't already); if the four
active players all approve the proposal, I will call the game.
Otherwise I will look for a replacement Russia. Either way, my
apologies for letting this game stumble a bit lately; if the game
continues I will do my best to get it back up to speed.

This just in!
In a surprising move, the French leader has given notice to the dislodged armies of Belgium to cease and desist! Effectively immediately, the Belgian retreat to Picardy is cancelled, and the forces return to their homes to shack up w the visiting Norwegian women. English are outraged.
A Bel disbands. New map attached.

DC-224 Slaughter Of Parley-Time - Spring 13 - Tick... - former.trout (Nov 10, 2009, 1:07 am) |
Heya folks,
Thanks to everyone for getting orders in - this little locomotive is picking up speed once again. =)
The board continues to flutter, as the landscape keeps shifting in the north, the Archers notch one more of their dwindling strings onto their bows and the Elves, in their quest for large hairy women, make a slight miscue...
Four retreats are due once the Spring haze clears - two Rogues, one Ogre and one Knight. However - with a couple players out jaunting around the world this week we'll space the Summer and Fall turn out slightly. Summer 13 retreats will not be due until Thursday, November 12th (11:59 PM GMT).
As always, please let me know if you spot any errors or mishaps. Cheers!
Five-Dime Louis Trout

DC267 More Issues - MattTheLesser (Nov 08, 2009, 11:31 pm) |
So I never received retreats from Bill; in fact, I haven't heard from
him at all since the initial retreats he sent me. Thus, I am inclined
to look for another replacement. However, there is an end-game proposal
on the table. Therefore I would appreciate it if you all would send me
your votes now (if you haven't already); if the four active players all
approve the proposal, I will call the game. Otherwise I will look for a
replacement Russia. Either way, my apologies for letting this game
stumble a bit lately; if the game continues I will do my best to get it
back up to speed.

DC267 More Issues (dc267) MattTheLesser Nov 10, 12:30 pm |
The proposal for a Danish solo has been voted down. Therefore I will
post the open Russian position on the DC site and hopefully we'll have
it filled soon. In the meantime there is a proposal for a draw between
Canada and Denmark. As usual I will post the results of this as soon as
I have votes from all necessary parties (which in this case are the four
active players only). Bill's second NMR (on the retreat phase) will
also be officially recorded, and those units will be disbanded, so the
map remains the same. I will announce the deadline for Summer 2014 as
soon as we have a new Russia.

Hey guys,
So the replacement spot has been up for a few days now and no one seems
to be biting. I've had a suggestion to put Russia in civil disorder so
that we can finish the game, and I am inclined to do this. However,
ultimately this is your game and thus your input is obviously valuable;
please let me know if you have a serious objection to this course of
action. If I have not received any strong objections by tomorrow
evening I will officially put Russia in CD and set the Summer 2014
deadline for this Thursday, November 19, at 9 pm eastern.

Am I right in thinking that you can only propose EOG arrangements at adjudications?
If so, can I propose an immediate Russian solo with this e-mail? Will it pass if no one objects?

Wow. Guys, this one was interesting. In particular, take a look at the goings on around Trieste. Just for the record, if anyone is wondering, that situation is covered by Diagram 26 on Page 14 of the rules. I looked it up just to make sure I was getting it right.
On another note, the taking of Denmark by Russia means Germany no longer has any units. As he still controls that supply centre, he is included in EOG proposals until this winter. Barring that, thanks for playing and especially thanks for holding out until the end.
We have no retreats necessary, so we'll move straight into the Fall phase.

Guys,
Sadly, we have an NMR this round. Due to the extension I gave, I'm not going to give any extra time to track Joe down. Florence ends up sitting on its hands this round.
Despite my best efforts (manually ordering all Florentine units to hold,) Joe had a dislodged army with no safe haven, so it's disbanded. Austria also lost an army, and Milan has a retreat due.

Germany Decides to Move Against the Anarchy in the West.
All,
I am afraid this is a long and late adjudication. I did EVERYTHING I could to try and get Italy and France via email but to no avail. I am forced to put France into CD and Italy gets an NMR this turn. Let's hope he rejoins us and we don't lose him for good.
I agonized over this. I don't like having England AND France in CD but that is the way things go. Replacements are not something that I believe in and we are addressing the overall issue on the site as a whole. As people realize that NMRs are a bad part of the game, hopefully we will weed them out and get rid of some of the ridiculous, lackadaisical attitude that seems to be pervading some of our games. I know that NMRs and CDs seem to make the game unbalanced but no more so than changing out players mid-stream and injecting new personalities. Plus, the assignment was random so anyone could have been lucky enough to have their neighbors go into CD...get the pun?
We have one retreat needed:
TURKISH F BLA can retreat OTB or to Ank or Arm
Given that there is just one retreat, let's do builds/removes simultaneously:
Turkey remove 1 unless F BLA retreats OTB
Austria build 1
Russia build 1
Our deadline is Monday, November 16th at 6pm CST. I apologize for the delay but I am out of the country starting tomorrow.
As a site moderator, I apologize to those of you who are playing hard and engaged. I hate the NMR epidemic and want to do everything I can to get them to be less prevalent on our site.
Garry
