DC271 Cimarra - F03 Results - Western Europe Offic... - garry.bledsoe   (Nov 06, 2009, 11:30 am)
Italy Disappears and France Leaves Us for Good.Turkey Gets Pushed Back as Russia and Austria Advance.
Germany Decides to Move Against the Anarchy in the West.

All,
I am afraid this is a long and late adjudication. I did EVERYTHING I could to try and get Italy and France via email but to no avail. I am forced to put France into CD and Italy gets an NMR this turn. Let's hope he rejoins us and we don't lose him for good.

I agonized over this. I don't like having England AND France in CD but that is the way things go. Replacements are not something that I believe in and we are addressing the overall issue on the site as a whole. As people realize that NMRs are a bad part of the game, hopefully we will weed them out and get rid of some of the ridiculous, lackadaisical attitude that seems to be pervading some of our games. I know that NMRs and CDs seem to make the game unbalanced but no more so than changing out players mid-stream and injecting new personalities. Plus, the assignment was random so anyone could have been lucky enough to have their neighbors go into CD...get the pun?

We have one retreat needed:

TURKISH F BLA can retreat OTB or to Ank or Arm

Given that there is just one retreat, let's do builds/removes simultaneously:

Turkey remove 1 unless F BLA retreats OTB
Austria build 1
Russia build 1

Our deadline is Monday, November 16th at 6pm CST. I apologize for the delay but I am out of the country starting tomorrow.

As a site moderator, I apologize to those of you who are playing hard and engaged. I hate the NMR epidemic and want to do everything I can to get them to be less prevalent on our site.

Garry

Honored Kings of the Dark Ages -

The year of the Gaels has arrived, with their successful capture of
both Gwynned and Dyfed from the Bretons. Coupled with a successful
defense of Ulster, they surge ahead to 6 SCs. The Danes press ahead
into Neustria, and claim Varmland from the Norse. The Norse and
Scottish counterattack on Vestfold fails, as does the Scottish attack
on Ulster. A tough year for that alliance. Meanwhile, the
Anglo-Saxon invasion force takes shape in the English Channel as the
war against the Bretons draws to a close. But will the Bretons find a
patron in the new war between the Gaels and Scots, and cling to life?

One retreat required: Norse A Varmland can retreat to Jamtland or OTB.

This just in!

In a surprising move, the French leader has given notice to the dislodged armies of Belgium to cease and desist! Effectively immediately, the Belgian retreat to Picardy is cancelled, and the forces return to their homes to shack up w the visiting Norwegian women. English are outraged.

A Bel disbands. New map attached.

DC267 Spring 2014 Results - MattTheLesser   (Nov 05, 2009, 10:43 am)
So, despite my wish for the game to not be affected by NMR's, I can wait
no longer. I never received moves from Russia, and thus all the gray
units hold. Bill, please contact me ASAP to let me know that you are
still in the game by sending me your retreats (see below). If I do not
hear from you by tomorrow I am going to seek another replacement.

Consequently it is a tough year for Russia as he loses one unit to the
melting ice and has two others dislodged. However, Russia's loss is
everyone else's gain, as Canada secures the Yukon, the USA reclaims
Magadan, Norway sails into the White Sea, and Denmark finally gets off
of Novaya Zemlya, setting up camp in the Ural Mountains.

There are, as previously noted, two retreats: Russian F White Sea may
retreat to Archangel, Kara Sea, or OTB, and Russian A Yukon may retreat
to Barrow, Juneau, or OTB. These retreats are due tomorrow, Friday Nov.
6, at 9 pm eastern.

Also, we have another proposal for a Danish solo. Your votes for this
are technically due with your orders for Summer 2014 (most likely
Wednesday), but I will announce the results early if all votes are in.

1648 091010: Spring 1650 Moves - charlesf   (Nov 04, 2009, 5:41 pm)
Grüß Gott!

I'm afraid other commitments this evening kept me from releasing the adjucation any earlier. Matters are certainly heating up across the continent. The English finally tasted their first salt water as both the Bristole and London squadrons set sail. Yet, apparently contrary to Danish expectation, the London fleet tacked north rather than patrolling the English Channel. The good citizens of Christiania now look to be defenceless in face of a possible English descent.

The Tsar's domains may not be quite as defenceless against foreign aggression, yet a formidable array of foreign forces are assembled on the Tsar's doorstep. The autocrat's hardy Don Cossacks however have grounds to boast about their Crimean exploits, though it is as yet unclear whether this expedition bears the character of a raid or that of outright conquest. In any case, older Russians must be bemoaning the return of the Time of Troubles that plaged poor Mother Russia earlier this century. It remains to be whether 1650 spells an end to the Romanov dynasty.

Further to the South Spain manage to crack down on Algiers' corsairs and install a new regime beholden to Madrid, thereby firmly bringing the whole Maghreb into Spain's orbit. A most timely development as tensions with the Porte are apparently on the rise. Perhaps the beneficiaries of King Phillip's focus on North Africa happen to be the Pope and the Doge, who've signed a pact of mutual assistance against the two Habsburg lines' expansionism. Indeed, a whole cordon of lesser powers within Italy and the Empire have yet to bow to outside pressure. The Dukes of Mecklenburg were the only princes in Central Europe to cow in face of foreign pressure.

As noted below, Poland-Lithuania needs to signal her retreat orders from the Crimean peninsula. For the other powers preliminary orders are due on Monday 6 PM CET.

Liebe Grüsse,

Charles

All,I am still missing orders from several players. We go into a 24 hour grace period because one of the said players has not used his grace period thus far. I will extend our deadline until tomorrow night. After that we proceed with NMR's.

Let's hope that doesn't happen. Individual chastising to follow.

Sigh. Well, I guess I saw it coming but we have England in Anarchy [all units stand and have to be forced out of position] and we bid him farewell and banned from the site barring some brilliant explanation.

Alas we ALSO lost Kent this round. Hopefully he is not gone as well and just had a holiday or something that interfered.

We need no retreats as all units dislodged were also annihilated since there was no retreat possible. Therefore we move to the Fall of 1903. A note on the maps: RP was giving me issues with trying to get the final placement map after orders. Will try again later and send along if I can get it to work. Sorry but the .dpy is up to date.

Orders are due by Wednesday Nov 4th at 6pm CST. Sorry for the slightly shorter deadline but I am trying to get Winter done also before I leave town on vacation for a week starting next Saturday.

all -

I'll be away in Oklahoma for the next three days - army stuff. Will
not have email again until Monday most likely...so I guess that's
actually 4 days, but I don't leave until tomorrow evening.

DIPYCORP PRESS RELEASES
winter 1913
As you can see I did what I promised; I gave Moscow back, took
Warsaw and I only attacked German units this past Fall. I was
saddened to see you moving your navies away from the weak
points in the German position. Regardless all is not lost.
You can now attack Belgium and by working together we could
take northern Italy back from the Germans and begin to put
pressure on his eastern front. Germany is getting so close to
a solo that I fear that if we don't act now that we will lose
our last chance at stopping his impending victory. The other
thought I have been playing with in my mind is not causing this
war to go on for many more years since that will require the
death of millions of souls to be lost (not to mention a lot of
hours of time put in by the GM).

So This is what I will do. I will vote yes for the draw
between you and Germany. If the vote succeeds than its clear
that both Germany and yourself are happy with the current
situation and the war will end. If the vote fails than I'll
know that there is some shred of hope since that would mean
that you voted no and are willing to fight against Germany
and/or that Germany voted no and he is looking for the solo
victory. In either case I'll know that you are convinced of
Germany's intentions. Its more likely that Germany will vote
no on the draw since I suspect that he wants the solo.
Although I hope against hope that the draw fails because you
vote no wince that means that you are ready to help me fight
against the black fate of Europe.
Worst case scenario: I will survive. (which isn't too bad
either)

Dearest Bertie,
Germany votes for peace, and an England/Germany draw.

I suspect however that the wily Sultan will vote against this
proposal in an ever increasingly desperate bid to drive a wedge
between us.

I hope he will not succeed.

In the absence of an agreement, let us press on, you into the ION, and me
to reatke WAR and move further on the Balkans.
Sincerely,
Willie

DC267 Update and Apologies - MattTheLesser   (Nov 03, 2009, 9:05 pm)
Guys,

First I must offer my sincerest apologies for this most recent delay; to
be completely honest I do not have a particularly good excuse other than
that I've been very busy and it just slipped my mind. However, I am
still missing orders from one player who has not yet used his 24 hour
grace period as allowed by my house, so I am officially granting that
starting now. Spring 2014 WILL be adjudicated tomorrow night at 10 pm
eastern, with no exceptions.

Matt
