GB04 DC472 I AM SOMEWHAT BACK ON & THIS GAME IS DO... - porkbelly   (Feb 18, 2014, 10:01 am)
Yes well done Chris. Although I'm sorry to see you correctly chose Miletus over Crete, a three-way draw would have been nice. My thanks to Rome for being such a great sport in the first half and for throwing me a bone on the last turn. Sorry about that knife in the back.

Chris, good luck in the final!

Cheers,
Mike, Greece

Congrats Chris and thank you Mike for very enthousiastic and professional GMing. For me it's been ages since I played a variant and I feel I like I missed a couple of chances in the midgame, but overall pretty happy with the Carthagan performance. I'm sad though that my ever friendly army in Leptis is the final straw in the Egyptian victory Wink

Good luck in the final Chris and to the rest I hope to see you again in other games.

DC Hundred - Winter 1427 - Zoterik   (Feb 18, 2014, 1:58 am)
Will this be the final year of battle?  Will England or France take the crown?  Will Burgundy survive?  The answers to these questions and more lie with the three of you, upon whose shoulders the fates of nations lie. In our world, England remembers Agincourt, while France praises Jeanne d'Arc.  Of what will your people reminisce when this game is at its end?

DC464 Spring 1909 - Zoterik   (Feb 18, 2014, 1:52 am)
There has been a dramatic de-escalation of the conflict in the Balkans.  Judging by the German orders, something was afoot, but Turkey backed out and chose the anti-German-solo effort.  Not much moves, although Germany is able to convoy an army to Scotland for use in pacifying the whole of Britain.  However, things largely seem to have slowed down, and we have a draw proposal to concern ourselves with.

The EoG Proposal in question is a DIAS, 4-way draw.  As usual, to pass it is required that all active players vote yes.  The deadline for this proposal is Winter 1909, but if I receive four "aye" votes before then I'll halt the game immediately.  Aside from that, we'll continue as usual, and that includes retreats.  We have one retreat needed from Germany for his A Galicia, due within twenty-four hours.

Retreat
German A Galicia can retreat to Bohemia or Warsaw.

*Russians Hibernate*
*German/French Forces Unite to Take North Sea*
*Oil discovered in Gulf of Lyon, Nations Flock to Seize*

Hey all,

Russia failed to get orders to me in time, so he NMR's. However, little harm done there, since apart from maybe bouncing the German move to Finland, I don't see what else he could have done this season. Apart from a presumed attempt at support-cutting by LVP-EDI, and a protective self bounce by the Germans in Hol, pretty much every move succeeds. Only the Gulf of Lyon sees real conflict. The borders of the former Austrian Empire see a lot of self support. A pretty calm season, really. But I expect the Fall will be a bloody one once more.
No retreats, so see ya Thursday!

Okay, right now we're looking for the German retreat, but let me give you a "heads up" on a draw vote. There's a proposal for an EGT draw. This'll be voted on in the fall.

I am sorry I cannot produce a map as I am travelling. I hope you can work with what you already have. The map on the website and in the previous email shows current position without builds. I am sure you can all employ visualisation skills!

Sorry for the lack of a smooth service this time. I thought you would all rather not have the game held over, so have rushed this out.

I will be back on Friday and will send a map then.

DC479 Hundred - Fall 1427 - Zoterik   (Feb 15, 2014, 10:32 pm)
Rare are the moments when, as a GM, I am able to personally intervene in the game like a vengeful deity and correct the mistakes of the RP adjudicator.  This is one of those days.  Lucky me!  And it's a situation of great significance, no less!  I'd better not mess this one up.

The situation in question concerns the English attack on Orleanais.  France moved that army to Brittany to cut support for his own attack on Guyenne (which succeeds), but England attacked Orleanais from Normandy with support of Brittany.  For reasons unknown to me, the adjudicator claims that the English move failed.  However, the rules state that the Brittany support is not cut by Orleanais because Orleanais itself is under siege from Normandy, and Brittany is supporting Normandy.  (Wow.  That sounds convoluted.  For clarification if necessary, please see Diagramme 16 in the Rules of Diplomacy, 4th edition.)

If anyone sees a reason for the adjudicator to be correct, please let me know.  However, the direct effect of the situation is that France is denied a solo victory.  France captured two territories (Luxembourg and Guyenne), which would put him at nine and the win, but having lost Orleanais, "falls" to eight.  England is also on eight now, having taken two (Flanders and Orleanais) and lost one (Guyenne).

I'll need a retreat from France (yep, Orleanais), and we can do Winter too.  Two other units were dislodged, but they have just one retreat which I will order unless the owning power wants that unit pulled.  Please note that the Autumn map does not show the English army in Orleanais due to the above issue.  Retreat due 18 February, adjustments due 19 February.
