dc235 Dirkfell french end statement - pieandmash (Apr 21, 2009, 1:48 am) |
A fine game. With some great new people ive not played before.
I love the fact john you got cross with me over my bel stab way back. Its emotional.
Laurence you are a solid frenchman and its good to see.
From my view i made 1 error which was to not cc disband to orders- the result my fleet behind johns lines was disbanded- a disaster for me- i never breached englands line again. John you are a shrewd tactician, possibly better than me on occassion
But i still had a good chance of being in th AIF finish which was a certain and then italy stabbed austria and as i stated at the time it was all over.
Best wishes in the real world
Cheers

The last French unit is disbanded, I think this is going to be it for our beleagured Frenchman! There was one retreat, but Turk F Nap could only go to TYS so I just moved it there. Fall 15 is due Thursday at 6pm Central US time, and it's back to Garry! He should be back by then. If not, you'll probly be hearing from me again.
Enjoy,

Heya, heya, heya...
The weight of the board lightens in the north as fleets in both Norway and the Norwegian Sea are removed from the board. Meanwhile, fresh armies pop up in Naples and Munich, while Frances dockyard workers get mucho overtime as fleets are build in Marseilles and Brest.
That's Winter of 03... Deadline for Spring 1904 orders will be set for a weeks time - on Monday, April 27th (11:59 PM GMT). Cheers folks!

DC205 The Pleiades - Fall 1913 - From The Stars - former.trout (Apr 20, 2009, 11:48 pm) |
Sharp knives speak the loudest, as they say... The Sultan puts the practice to work, doubling up in centers - reclaiming Ankara and occupying Naples... Meanwhile, France offsets centers with both Italy and Russia maintaining the balance in the west...
One retreat was required after the smoke cleared - but there was only one option other than OTB. I auto-retreated the French fleet in Spain to Portugal... However, if OTB is required then please just let me know Brian.
Meanwhile, we have folks voting for draw proposals that have never been made... So I hate to say it, but I guess those draws fail.. What can you do? ...
The meter keeps on running... We'll set Winter 1913 adjustments due for Wednesday, April 22nd (11:59 PM GMT).
Let me know if you spot any mistakes. Cheers everyone!

All right, with that now out of the way, here are some guidelines for you.
Rules:
I follow the DC house rules. PLEASE READ THEM.
www.diplomaticcorp.com
It is pretty standard diplomacy, with a couple of points to note. First, there are NO DEFAULT builds or retreats. If you fail to submit orders for retreats your unit will be disbanded, and if you fail to submit builds, you don't get any.
Deadlines:
Never less than one week before any major turn (spring or fall) from the previous adjudication (summer or winter), and not any deadlines on weekends. I am in the Mountain time zone in western Canada, and my deadlines are in the evenings, my time. As an example of a typical year.....
Spring due on Tuesday, April 28
Summer due on Wed., April 29
Fall due on Wed May 6
Autumn (retreats) due on Thur. May 7
Winter (builds) due on Fri. May 8
Spring due on Fri. May 15.... etc.
The actual deadline occurs when I open my mail account with the intent of running the turn, so sometimes you might get some bonus time... but NEVER count on it.
Just so you are all aware, I can help out sometimes with questions on rules or other things, but I will never advise anyone on particulars of this game, or on any strategy. I encourage anyone who is relatively new, or just rusty, to read a current rule book. Go to the downloads on the DC club site, I think is the best way to find them. Once again....
www.diplomaticcorp.com
So, our first deadline. Let's give ourselves a few extra days since it's first turn, and make Spring 1901 due on Wednesday, April 29, 22:00 MDT. That's 04:00 GMT on the 30th.
Send me any questions, concerns or comments. I know you all know it, but the map is attached anyhow. I will send a .dpy and .gif for each turn, and you can always get a current map on the game page at the club site.
I accept orders anytime, and you can change them as many times as you like up to the deadline. So get preliminary orders in to me as soon as you can. You never know what can come up.......
Ummmmm, I can't think of anything else, but of course I am missing something. Please let me know what it is at your leisure.....
Have a great game everyone. Looking forward to it.

DC223 - Autumn 1909 - bielf11 (Apr 20, 2009, 11:07 pm) |
Italian Fleet in Apulia retreats to Venice.
1909 was a disastrous year for England and Germany (saw their troops halved).
Russia will disagree with its 2 new SC.
France has regained a SC it lost in 1908.
Brings us to Winter 1909.
Adjustments
--------------------
England: Supp 1 Unit 2 Remove 1
France: Supp 7 Unit 6 Build 1
Germany: Supp 1 Unit 2 Remove 1
Italy: Supp 2 Unit 2 Build 0
Russia: Supp 16 Unit 14 Build 2
Turkey: Supp 7 Unit 7 Build 0
Deadline for Winter adjustments is Thursday April 23 at 23:00 GMT.
We also have an endgame proposal for Russian Solo; voting deadline with the Spring 1910 orders.

Enjoy,
-mike

DC223 - Fall 1909 adjudication - bielf11 (Apr 20, 2009, 6:43 pm) |
Fall 1909: a season of miscommunication.
German army in Holland attack Belgium but fails; meanwhile Russian troops from Kiel arrive at the border with Holland only to find that the German army had left (be it only temporarily); and the French had expected the Russians in Kiel to attack Holland so when they arrived at the border with Holland, they only saw a puzzled Russian unit. Sometimes the decisions of the people in command are just beyond the comprehension of the footsoldiers!
The Italian Fleet in Apulia is forced out by the Turks and needs to retreat. The Turks retreat from Russian territory it had taken in Spring.
The French and the Russians go for certainty. And it seems to pay off.
The English bravely hold their positions and kill... ...some time, with a cup of tea.
One retreat due by Tuesday April 21 at 23:00 GMT.

dc246 spring 1904 results - coryfucius (Apr 20, 2009, 5:40 pm) |
Unfortunately, we have two NMRs this turn, as I am unable to locate orders from both Austria and England. For England, it only means missing out on position, but Austria suffers the effects of a counter-attack on two fronts.
France gains Munich but pulls back from Tyrolia and does not sail into an undefended Tunis. Italy moves full force to retake Venice. Turkey pulls back from the gates of Moscow to occupy Rumania, and sails eastward out of the Ionian Sea.
There is one retreat due:
The Austrian army in Venice may retreat to Tyrolia or OTB.
Max, your summer 1904 retreat is due tomorrow, Tuesday 4/21 at 3pm Central (US) / 20:00 GMT.

And with the tick of the clock we begin our fourth spring. The
battlefield is really starting to get complicated. We have clashes by
the Black sea, some major movements in the med, and some serious
expansion by the british. Our only retreat is Russia's GAL, which I
have auto-ordered to Warsaw Mr. Penner, if you care for a disband,
please tell me. Since that's taken care of, we can move on to fall
'04, which shall be due thursday the 23rd, at 5:00 ET. Until then,
keep up the good work!

Two retreats. Two disbands. So, we'll be playing the F1904 turn two units short. It's as if both Germany and Italy got red-carded. But everybody earns participation points, and the lack of actionable retreats means that everybody gets tomorrow off... which is a good thing, as I'll be away for the next two days anyhow. Well, builds are done. The only truly interesting thing here is Germany. Since he NMRd, His disbands are Hel, Pru, and, most notably Swe, since they are farthest away from home centers. This means that Jason's only remaining army is in Tyrolia, so no, this was not an error. Anyway, spring 04 is due Monday the 20th at 6:00 ET. Get those orders in!
