Fall 1909: a season of miscommunication.
German army in Holland attack Belgium but fails; meanwhile Russian troops from Kiel arrive at the border with Holland only to find that the German army had left (be it only temporarily); and the French had expected the Russians in Kiel to attack Holland so when they arrived at the border with Holland, they only saw a puzzled Russian unit. Sometimes the decisions of the people in command are just beyond the comprehension of the footsoldiers!
The Italian Fleet in Apulia is forced out by the Turks and needs to retreat. The Turks retreat from Russian territory it had taken in Spring.
The French and the Russians go for certainty. And it seems to pay off.
The English bravely hold their positions and kill... ...some time, with a cup of tea.
One retreat due by Tuesday April 21 at 23:00 GMT.
