DC236 Winter Blitz Board 6 - Summer 1910 - former.trout   (Mar 17, 2009, 9:34 pm)
Here is the Summer 1910 turn - or lack of a turn, you might say.  For once again we turn up a void where Russian orders should be.  The result is the removal of over a quarter of the white pieces on the board...

Not a pretty sight, but it is what it is.  Deadline for Fall 1910 orders and your yay or nay votes for the 3-way draw proposal are due on Thursday, March 19th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

Heya folks,

I'm very happy to welcome Nathan Deily to our little slug-fest.  Nathan has been good enough to step into the Hobbits position for us.  I'm sure you guys will join me in giving him a hearty greeting - knives optional, of course...  =)

Attached below is the current player roster.  We'll give Nathan a few days for diploming - the revised deadline for Spring 05 will be set for Friday, March 20th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers everyone!

Two questions about the French being in CD?

1. Will the former French player (or a new person who volunteers to play) be allowed to come in at any time in the future?  Or is this a permanent CD for the rest of the game?

2. If a French unit is dislodged, will it have the opportunity to retreat?  Or will all retreats be OTB while France is in CD?

thanks,

Units are disbanded if dislodged when a country is in CD

IRISH INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENT CLOUDS VIEW OF CONTINENT
By Gregory Mankins

LONDON – LOYALISTS claims to the contrary aside, Ireland is closer than ever to secession from the United Kingdom.  Conscriptions for the Scandinavian campaign have emptied the fields.
From the public houses to the football pitches, “Irish Republic” propaganda and Rebel songs are everywhere.
Though the northern counties of Ulster have a softer stance on the issue of Ireland’s continued union with Great Britain, Belfast was awash with potentially violent gangs of hooligans for days in preparation for the match.  England’s convincing 3 to 1 victory this Saturday has done little to ameliorate the angst felt by the Irish across the island.  Much has been made of the fact that though the officials were Welsh, they were Protestant.
Thursday’s St. Patrick’s day masses promise to provide at least a brief respite from angry mobs assembling outside Dublin Castle.  However, these same masses are feared to also provide informal recruiting grounds to the rebel cause.
Will troubles in Ireland prove to distract His Majesty from Continental influence?  Some experts believe they already have.

Berlin falls! Kersplat! Though it would not have changed the result, there _appears_ to have been some miscommunication of the baseball variety: “I’ve got it!” “No, I’ve got it!” “You’ve got it!” “We’ve got it!” “Who’s got it?” THUD. Yeesh, it’s like a White Sox game.

There was also one unwanted support. Those are always fun.

There is but that one retreat… and it is a forced disband. In addition, I am disbanding the Italian fleet in Ionian. Alas, Greg, you have departed us too soon. Feel free to play sinister organ music and to think of Austria as you do so. Let me know if you’d like to be removed from the mailing list.

As for the other four of you… Seismic orders are due on Thursday. Adjustments are due on Friday. On account of conquering, disbanding, and waived builds, everybody builds one. Unless your name is Lytton. You don’t get to build anything. And I’m not giving you a cookie, either.

Spring 1907
-----------------
NMR from Italy. And with Albania under attack from the Turks, Italy's fleet in Albania is disbanded. And Napels is flying the Turkish banner, too. The Turks in turn lose their fleet in Tunis under attack from the French who are slowly expanding south. France successfully defends Belgium - with a huge combined army and fleet of 4 units. And of course, then you find that no one bothered to attack Belgium. Germany instead aims for the North Sea. Its Russian support is however rudely interrupted by a bold English attempt to enter the Norwegian Sea. In its North and in Scandinavia Russia executed an intricate set of moves where navy and army seem to have switched places.

DC236 Winter Blitz Board 6 - Spring 1910 - former.trout   (Mar 16, 2009, 11:13 pm)
The Blitz is a cruel animal sometimes...  The Tsar remains incommunicado and Russian forces lurch to a standstill at a very bad time.

There were three retreats due as a result from Spring, but all were Russian and all only had one option.  I would normally retreat these automatically but owing to the streak of NMRs I feel the Summer turn needs to be run.  Summer 1910 retreats will be due Tuesday, March 17th (11:59 PM GMT).

On another note, a three-way Italian/English/German draw has been proposed.  Yay or nay votes will be due with the Fall orders on Thursday - failure to vote will count as a negative vote.

Please let me know if you spot any errors with the adjudication.  Cheers all,

Trout

The Final Frontier Ends - sgttodd   (Mar 16, 2009, 10:33 pm)
The vote for the 5-way draw was unanimous - heh, humanoids.

The draw includes the Borg Collective, the Dominion, the Ferengi Alliance, the Klingon Empire, and the Romulan Star Republic.

Eliminated were the Cardassian Union, and the United Federation of Planets.

Thank you all for playing and for your feedback on the first play of this variant.

DC215 Spring 1910 Results - MattTheLesser   (Mar 16, 2009, 8:17 pm)
Ever more new developments this season as Germany breaks Russia's hold
on the Helgoland Bight, although the Czar does manage to keep the
Kaiser's forces out of Denmark, at least for now. Germany also meets
success against Italy, reclaiming Munich and protecting Marseilles.
However Italian fleets continue to flood west, so the fates of Iberia
and France may still remain to be seen.

The DIAS has been voted down. However, we have a new proposal for an RI
draw. Please send me your votes with your orders for Fall 1910, the
deadline for which is this Friday, March 20, at 9 pm eastern.

Also if any of you are interested I have a new game up in DC, the
Chromatic variant.

Matt

DC-239 Deadline Adjustment - TheWhiteWolf   (Mar 16, 2009, 7:58 pm)
Folks,
I have already had a comment about the deadline, so I'm going to push it to Monday the 23rd. I thought Friday might be wishful thinking anyway, so I don't mind extending at all.

DC 225 Update - AlanRFarrington   (Mar 16, 2009, 4:51 pm)
Hello Everybody,

Hey guys, I want to apologize for the long wait we've been having. It has come to my attention that Rachael has been quite sick over the last week or so. My best wishes are with her and hopefully she will recover soon. I have been told that we might be able to expect her at the beginning of this week. I'm sure once she is feeling up to par she will deliver her Spring orders and we can get this game back on track.

As always, I'm still accepting order revisions if any of you have taken the time to glance over the game during this intermission.

Thanks all,
Alan Farrington

DC 233: Correction - AceRimmer   (Mar 16, 2009, 12:31 pm)
Ach! The Italian orders have been discovered! And perforce I must fix things. Rats. The two Italian units remain dislodged. However, Italy dislodges the Russian fleet in the English Channel and thereby nullifies the convoy attempt from London.

Russian Fleet English Channel may retreat to North Sea or Wales or OTB

My apologies to one and all.
