DC215 Spring 1909 - former.trout   (Mar 08, 2009, 6:59 pm)
This game never ceases to surprise me. This spring sees Russia attempt to pull out of Germany, only to find the road blocked by German fleets, while Italy cries "Westward Ho!," only to also find a German army in the way.

There was only one retreat due, and it only had one option, so I've sent Russia's A Sil - War. Warren just let me know if you want it OTB.

Fall 1909 is up next, and we'll have it this coming Wednesday, March 4, at 9 pm eastern. Please note that I am going to be extremely busy this upcoming week, so bear with me if there are any delays.

Here are the replacement maps for the Spring 1903 turn.

We are, however, now in a holding pattern as our leader for Austria has bid us all farewell. I will ask DC to help us find a new A/H as soon as possible so we can get things rolling as soon as possible.

Spring deadline on hold until we get a new player.

Bruce

DC222 Two Steps - Early Winter 05 Correction - The... - former.trout   (Mar 08, 2009, 3:40 am)
Heya guys,

Brian has asked why Berlin was not an option for retreat, and since the Berlin Wall has fallen I have no good reason why it wasn't one.  Please find attached the corrected Autumn 05 map, with the Russian retreat to Berlin.

This of course affects the Winter 05 adjustments.  Germany now disbands two, Russia builds two.  Deadline for Winter 1905 orders remains the same though - Tuesday, March 10th (11:59 PM GMT).

Please let me know if you spot any other errors.  Cheers!

DC230 - Winter 1901 - Stoking The Wood Stove - former.trout   (Mar 07, 2009, 8:43 pm)
It was the Winter turn that was a long time in coming.  Thanks again to you guys for your amazing patience as we roll over these minor starting hurdles.  =)

The board changes as Austria builds two armies, France builds two fleets, Russia and Germany split their builds and both England and Italy launch new boats.

So we'll move on into Spring 1902.  Since I haven't heard from Babak that he is up and runnning yet, I'll hang in here and ask that you send your orders to me.  Probably a good idea to CC Babak as well however, since as soon as he is armed and ready again I plan to surrender all responsibilities back to him.

Deadline for Spring 02 will be a week's time - for Saturday, March 14th (11:59 PM GMT).  Cheers folks!

Guys,

Ruhr and the Baltic Sea are the locations for the retreating units.  In the lull of activity, though, the diplomats get busy and a 4-way DIAS is proposed for your consideration.  This would be a France/Russian/Italian/Turkish Draw.  Please let me hear your yays or nays - failure to vote will count as a nay.

Deadline for Fall 1911 and the DIAS votes will be set for Thursday, March 12th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers and beers!

DC222 Two Steps To Anarchy - Fall 1905 - Two Rider... - former.trout   (Mar 07, 2009, 7:44 pm)
Turkey Mayonnaise

Its the spread of choice for this Fall turn, as Russia and Italy combine to finish the job for our Sultan.  No orders were received from John for this last turn, but as both of his surviving units were hit and any support would have been cut then I simply ran with it.  My thanks to Mr. Langley for playing it out to the bittersweet end.

In other events on the board, Germany reclaims Munich and drives the Russians out, England manages to reoccupy Liverpool but cedes Wales to the French in the process and Spanish children line the beaches to welcome their new Italian Lords.

Asides from the Turkish units, there was only one retreat owed - that being the Russian in Munich.  Since Bohemia was the only option asides from OTB, I took the liberty.  Please just let me know if that was in error, however, and I will correct.

And with that, we'll set the Winter 05 deadline for Tuesday, March 10th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers folks!

DC-227 GM Apology - TheWhiteWolf   (Mar 07, 2009, 4:45 pm)
Folks,
Seems I really flubbed on this one. I pushed for a quick deadline, and then didn't adjudicate. I promise I will get it out later tonight.

My apologies,

dc187 Russia eog - catsfather   (Mar 07, 2009, 11:48 am)
First off, thanks everyone for an interesting game. I certainly had
many plans that stewed beneath the surface, waiting for now to be
revealed. So here's my eog.

I always feel sorry for Austria. As I always do, I tried very hard at
the beginning of the game to find a way to team up with him. But I am a
very aggressive player and after Turkey let me sneak into the Black Sea
I wanted to hit him really hard and keep him from building at all. I
requested support from Austria into Bulgaria and was refused. So I
called off my invasion of my southern neighbour for the time being.

In the north, Germany and I were quite amicable right away. The
agreement to move on England while he took Sweden was legit. However,
Germany had been told that I was not defending it and I told him he
could defend Denmark with Skag. He didn't and England moved in there.
Had he done as I requested, he would have had an extra build to put in
Munich with which we would work together on Austria. With extra help
there I was going to be comfortable betraying the trust of Turkey. But
it was not to be.

The new Germany annoyed me with his unwillingness to consider my
proposals and his vassal attitude toward France. So the lines were
drawn and the RT was final (in my mind).

From what I could gather, Turkey and I were willing to play for the FRT
draw by the end, but that motion kept getting defeated, so we decided to
make a final push for the two-way. I was really looking forward to
matching wits with France (and the one or two German units) but I guess
I'll take the two-way and go from here.

Thanks to Turkey for trusting me so much. Many times you didn't have a
choice... as you can see I might not have been as trustworthy as I
looked, but that's the way it worked out.

dc187 Turkey eog - catsfather   (Mar 07, 2009, 11:08 am)
First of all thank-you very much to Hamish for GMing with humour and
patience. The ending was obviously unsatisfactory but that is not the
GM's fault, I think we were all fed up with the continual missed
deadlines. Congratulations to mvp on sharing the draw with me and thanks
to the other players for taking part.

I didn't start very well when I mucked up my first set of orders. I had
agreed a bounce in Bla with Russia but then had a brain seizure and
moved to Con instead. This left me in a very poor way if Russia had
decided to attack me but fortunately we allied against Austria instead.
I wonder whether the key moment was replacement Italy opting to head
West not East. It certainly had positive ramifications for my health
anyway. After that it was a fairly straight forward juggernaut. France
and Germany had allied but for some reason Germany didn't get his fair
share of the spoils so France stabbing him was entirely predictable. I
considered hard stabbing Russia sometime during the end but I couldn't
see it would gain me anything. I think he realised I might because he
was more opaque with his orders than before. At the end I was stuck in
the Med and frustrated that France was keeping Germany alive so was just
coming to an agreement with Russia for a big push to break through the
middle when the game terminated.

Mvp was a good ally, he gave me some nice tactical tips and always had
something good to say. I imagine he does well in most of his games. I
had less contact with the other players due to my own laziness (Turkey
was a suitable power for me), France seemed to be trying to manipulate
things but I thought was too transparently Machivellian so couldn't be
believed. I had some discussions with Austria early but he seemed pretty
uninterested in my approach.

Hey everyone.

So I sat down tonight to finally get the Winter 2010 adjustments out and I find an email pointing out that I've miscounted units.  It turns out that South Africa had seven units on the board and needs to get down to three.  So, sorry, but it appears that this'll end up taking even longer.  Trout, can you get me a revised adjustment at your earliest convenience.  Once I receive his I'll let everyone know and I'll give everyone another 24 hours in case this news changes your plans.
