First of all thank-you very much to Hamish for GMing with humour and
patience. The ending was obviously unsatisfactory but that is not the
GM's fault, I think we were all fed up with the continual missed
deadlines. Congratulations to mvp on sharing the draw with me and thanks
to the other players for taking part.
I didn't start very well when I mucked up my first set of orders. I had
agreed a bounce in Bla with Russia but then had a brain seizure and
moved to Con instead. This left me in a very poor way if Russia had
decided to attack me but fortunately we allied against Austria instead.
I wonder whether the key moment was replacement Italy opting to head
West not East. It certainly had positive ramifications for my health
anyway. After that it was a fairly straight forward juggernaut. France
and Germany had allied but for some reason Germany didn't get his fair
share of the spoils so France stabbing him was entirely predictable. I
considered hard stabbing Russia sometime during the end but I couldn't
see it would gain me anything. I think he realised I might because he
was more opaque with his orders than before. At the end I was stuck in
the Med and frustrated that France was keeping Germany alive so was just
coming to an agreement with Russia for a big push to break through the
middle when the game terminated.
Mvp was a good ally, he gave me some nice tactical tips and always had
something good to say. I imagine he does well in most of his games. I
had less contact with the other players due to my own laziness (Turkey
was a suitable power for me), France seemed to be trying to manipulate
things but I thought was too transparently Machivellian so couldn't be
believed. I had some discussions with Austria early but he seemed pretty
uninterested in my approach.
