DC 211: S1907S - AceRimmer   (Feb 23, 2009, 1:25 pm)
All seismics succeed! It¢s been awhile since I wrote that. Berlin and Rome are once again the centers of attention. Plus, Italy gets an exciting opportunity to play the beached whale rule:

As the fleet in Naples now has no coasts, Greg may either disband the fleet or keep the fleet, knowing that the only thing it would be able to do is ¡F Nap Holds¢ until Naples should once again border a sea. Both options have intrigue.

I need a decision from Greg within 24 hours. For now, the fleet is still on the map, but that is easily changed.

Then, we¢ll celebrate F1907 on Thursday, 1000 CST. If anybody wants more time, I can move it back to Friday.

Austria:
Split Nap / Ion, join Apu, Rom

England:
Split Swe/Ber - Join Den/Bal

France:

Italy:

I guess I was confused because you sent some Spring 1909 orders with the
builds - I assumed the word prelims referred to those, and thus I
adjudicated by my house rule that I consider builds final unless they
are specifically marked prelim. I highly doubt that Joe's build would
influence B's decision, so I am going to allow the change in build. In
the future please be as specific as possible when marking orders prelim,
final, ect. That said, with only three people left please do mark
orders final when you're ready - I'm hoping that our reduced number will
allow for some early adjudications!

I would like to publicly propose a 3 way GIR draw.  I won't get past 15 going in either direction without being stopped, and these alliances will swing back and forth ad nauseum.   All three of us have some prospect of a solo, but none of us will let each other get all the way there.  Just as Joe and I turned on Warren, and now Warren and I are turning on Joe for a while, etc. etc. and in time Joe and Warren will turn on me.  This game has achieved stability - fluid stability, but stability all the same.

Both of these gentlemen have delivered a worthy performance, and I would be honored to share in a 3-way draw with them, if they are willing.

DC 207: Apologies for the delay - stevelytton at gmail.com   (Feb 23, 2009, 12:47 am)
Dear All (and Mike)

I have included the moderator of DC (Mike Sims) on this message. His email address is mike(at)southwall.com (mike(at)southwall.com)

It has now been 7 days since Steve told us that he was going to do someting about jack's replacement and I have NOT received any emailed reponse from him at all. In my personal opinion, that is extremely poor form for a GM.

I also suggested a Draw proposal for the remaining 4 players, with Jack being recorded as a survivial (*since he is about to be replaced anyway).

I would like to propose the following options, please.

1) If each player (Ross, Lee, Trout and myself) can send Mike a YES or NO proposal for the Draw I proposed. I know we all agreed openly to the draw, but people can change their minds (I hope they wont but..).

If Mike receives 4 yes votes, the game can officially end

However if someone votes NO, then the game has to continue. In that case, I would ask that DC assigns a new GM to the game as I dont think Steve can handle the GM load at the moment. In my own personal opinion, a GM has 2 basic duties - try to get the adjudications out on time and to answer player's emails. I have no confidence in Steve achieving either of these at the moment.

Mike - can we please have an official reponse from the management at DC that you will collect the votes on this to see if we can end the game.

My draw proposal was (just for the record)

Draw between Chi, Chu, Hsung- Nu and Shu.
Chin are recorded as a survivial
Both Yen and Chao have both been eliminated (game page has also not been updated)

Two orders of business.

1. A player has gone AWOO. I have emailed him and we will see what happens. I am thinking
I may need to replace him.

2. Graham (Austria) will be away for an extended time and has lined up a player to take his place.
That player is Steve Lytton and his email is: stevelytton AT gmail DOT com

Well aren't you guys a bit jumpy!  Not 12 hours after the deadline and I've got multiple emails asking for the adjudication!  I guess it's good - shows you guys are really into this game.  You all just wouldn't survive a second in WWIV, where the adjudication was just put out last night when the deadline was on Monday.

As for happenings, some interesting developments in the north as Germany has now secured all of Britain, but loses his home center of Kiel to the Russians attacking from the...west?  And, in the south, Russia and Italy have finally overcome the Sultan's last two holdouts, and thus Turkey is the 4th power eliminated.  Many thanks to Vince for a well played game and for sticking it out even when it got rough.

So now we are three.  There was only one retreat: Russia's army Pru could go to Lvn or War.  I have sent it to War; Warren, if you want it in Lvn, or want to disband it for a build, just let me know.

I'll set the Winter 1908 deadline for this Monday, February 21, at 9 pm eastern.  Adjustments due are listed below the adjudication.

To the Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russias, Tsar Nicholas
II: From the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Ireland, His Royal Highness Edward VII

Dearest Friend, In reply to your most urgent appeal to the
Heads of European States for peace and cooperation in the
present and future: The people of England see your plight and
we choose to count ourselves as friends of the Russian nation.
Our differences in the past are past. We must point first that
it was Russian troops entering Austrian territory that has
precipitated much of the current conflict between your two
great nations. We do not see Austria as the sole cause of your
troubles, but as the ally you need most in this hour. We do
choose to be your friend. We will point to our decision to not
disturb your royal residence in St. Petersburg as a first
Testament to our good faith and friendship. We are prepared to
garrison forces there to buttress your hold of Moscow should it
come to that. We pray it does not.

Your Cousin and Your Ally, Edward VII

Turkey to Austria: You can see from my moves that you have
nothing to fear from me. I have no intention of breaking our
friendship before our campaign against Russia is finished.
Please write me coordinating details to help us plan our moves
together.

Heya folks,

As Garry is probably knee-deep in birthday cheer tonight, this adjudication comes courtesy of your friendly neighbourhood Trout. And a slightly complicated one it is too, as no retreat orders are found in the orders inbox for Germany... And while retreats are submitted for France, the French omit their disband...

Sorry guys, but de rules are de rules. The German army in Galicia is retreated OTB, and being the furthest from a home center, the French navy in Clyde is plucked from the board. Not bad news for England who adds two new fleets to their arsenal.

Deadline for Spring 07 orders is set for Monday, February 23rd (11:59 PM GMT). Cheers all!
