dc 230 - winter 1901 .... delay already??? - BabakTalebi (Feb 16, 2009, 2:42 pm) |
friends - it looks like my legnthy delay for the fall orders may have rubbed off on some of you.
I'm still missing several sets. usually - I would just adjudicate with the NMR's but due to my own shortcomings in the previous few weeks, I feel it only fair to give those of you with missing orders to get them in...
can we try for tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6:00pm????
if I dont hear from you (you know who you are) by then - I'm just going to have to assume you are so upset at my own delay that you've decided to ignore my emails
hopefully we'll get this show back on the road ASAP

DC232 spring 1906 reminder! - coryfucius (Feb 16, 2009, 2:18 pm) |
I know today is President's Day in the US, but the Winter Blitz tournament waits for no one... Spring 1906 orders are due in less than one hour (!), and I am still missing orders from at least one player. Please don't NMR just because it's a holiday!

Wow. One unit ordered to move, 2 nations ordered all Hold, One nation ordered an invalid support order, and we are left just where we were before.
We also have a proposal for an I/G/R 3-way draw. The English resistance they added a year to the war has failed, and the weary survivors are prepared to vote on Peace.
England is Eliminated, and Italy gets one build.
Please vote with the build, I will call the game if I get 4 Yes's before the deadline.

DC 216 - WOT2 - Game On! - Githraine (Feb 16, 2009, 11:49 am) |
We have two great players stepping in to keep this one going!
Bruce Quinn, a player I have fought with, against, and GMed is taking over the Midlands.
The Unnamed Ex-Fish will appropriately be taking over the SeaFolk. (For DC Noobs, that is Former Trout, one of our Moderators)
All e-mails are below, along with the current map and DPY files.
We will re-order Fall 1002. I will consider all submitted orders as preliminary so if you liked them, they will stand if I do not hear different.
Orders due Sunday, Feb 22nd at 9PM
Thanks Everyone!

I will have access to another computer at 6:00 pm tonight which is darn near the deadline. Unfortunately I was gone all weekend, so I was unaware of the problem until I arrived at work this morning. Hopefully this is all a tempest in a teapot and my orders got through. [Reply] |

Can I propose a Draw for the remaining players (not including JacK) at this point?
I am tired of the delays in this game, and even though I am not attributing blame - this game has not had much continuity for me. and a NEW player at this stage is something I am looking forward to.
I propose a draw for :-
Barbarians, Yellow, Green, Purple with RED survivial (as of this WINTER)
If the other 4 are in favour, we could end this game and then a new one would be started with possible better flow and results?
what do you think Steve?

Dc220 Deadline Extension - deathblade_penguin (Feb 16, 2009, 4:20 am) |
Players of Dc220.
Andy has been in touch with me and unfortunately he is struggling with internet access. Therefore I am extending the deadline to
Thursday 19th at 7pm, Australian EST.
NOTE though - if this was your 24 hour reminder, I would only have one set of moves... a big thankyou to that player for getting in prelims nice and early.
Jason - you still have not contacted me, if I do not hear from you by the deadlines, you will be replaced.

Folks,
As some of you know things have been pretty hectic in my house lately. The kids and I came down with a horrible stomach virus that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The kids and I are finally better but we just received word that my husband is being sent back to his home base a few days earlier. That leaves me little less then a week to get packed, find us a truck and an apartment in San Antonio. During this time Stephen Lytton will be taking over GMing for you go so all orders from now on are to be sent to stevelytton(at)hotmail.com.
As soon as we get into San Antonio and we get settled I will take back over. Stephen will be setting a new deadline I believe. Have fun guys and take care. I'll be back in about 2 -3 weeks.. ( hopefully 2! )

Due to his recent connections issues, Jackson has asked me to step in and finish the GMing of Dc197. We thank Kai for his GMing so far and look forward to a brutal cut throat, end of game issue.
A couple of adminsterative matters.
1) My own house rules will be applying to this game from Spring 1908. PLease take your time to look them over, (they can be linked at through the Dc197 game page). If there are any of my house rules that clash with the DC default rules and your own personal philosohy meaning that you would not have signed up for the game, please email me and I am happy to consider a compromise.
2) I am sticking with Kai's deadline of the 15th. Although because i run my deadlines in Australian EST, I will set it as Monday 16th at 7pm.
3) I urge all active players to send me a confirmation of receiving this email by the winter deadline.

Did not have them all yesterday at D/L then got tied up. Processing what I have now. Actually started changing some of the key spots to small letters (that fixed early similiar issues in earlier versions of Amed & worse Sengoku (worse because I don't have that geography in my head to just blow through it). As simple as taking the file into wordpad and changing but have to get all the connective places as well. Until I am sure I will make other changes to this (China & Australia cause the war by moving fleets to SCS & ARA eespectively + maybe sc moves if I can remember how) the effort seems not of great value this late in the game. Would use a file someone else fixes if they want to. If people would just play SSI wargames or SPI board 1s we would not have this trouble...

DC226 Before Winter 02 Press! - hapolley (Feb 15, 2009, 2:30 pm) |
Berlin.
To: The Archduke and Il Duce
Betrayed by England, mocked by France, but still a player for now lol...
To the Archduke.
I can help be assisting you in eliminating the French student Army in BOH.
If you attack him thru the TYL/VIE axis, I can order BER ~ SIl ending
the puny French presence east of the Rhine.
To: Il Duce.
I can attack and at worst tie down the arrogant French A in BUR.
All that will be needed for you to take MAR in the Fall will be to
move to PIE this season.
To: The Prime Minister ~ London
Smarting from betrayal, but enjoying your view of history has led me
to the decision to throw my remaining efforts against the French.
The longer you allow me a presence the more I can hinder and curtail
French development.
I am happy to act as a surrogate English presence on the Continent.

Texas-Area Diplomacy Players - diplomacyworld (Feb 15, 2009, 10:31 am) |
Sorry to interrupt for a second, but I wanted to make a request that anybody who lives in Texas, Oklahoma, western Louisiana, or southwestern Arkansas and who is interested in face-to-face Diplomacy would please stop by the Texas Diplomacy yahoo group (either from our website at http://www.texasdiplomacy.com or directly at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/texas-diplomacy/).
The idea of the group is to build a network of ftf players, to encourage the creation or stregthening of clubs in each metropolitan area, and eventually to build some regional ftf events.
If you know Diplomacy players who live in the region, please feel free to forward this posting to them.[Reply] |

DC219, A Bit of Chaos - m_don_j (Feb 15, 2009, 10:03 am) |
Fellow players,
Here is the situation.
Our Austrian player, Rachel, is in the process of moving and does not have reliable internet access, yet.
Our Russian player, Archer, has let me know that he'd rather be replaced, since real-life is getting to him.
I have to make a decision here. So, I'm going to put the game on hold and search for a replacement for Archer. I hope Rachels situation has been cleared up untill then as well.

DC238 Spring 1902 RESULTS - coebq (Feb 15, 2009, 9:40 am) |
The delay goes on and on and on...
Or so it seems.
My sincerest apologies folks.
RL hit me like a ton of bricks on Wednesday and never let up. I knew there was a reason I had originally set the deadline for Tuesday...No matter, while I may have lots of excuses for the delay the fact of the matter is that an excuse has an effective kill radius of absolutely zero. In other words, I can only say I'm sorry.
With so much build-up to this season's results though you'd think it would come in with a bang. Instead, a lot of action with little to show for it in actually gains. Although I guess our Russian leader is putting his hands on his hips about now and saying, "oh yea, what about Rum...?" Well, true enough: Russian fleet Rum is wiped from the map with hundreds lost at sea. Oh yes, and we did have that switching of places between the Russia and England up in the North, But besides those I mean. Regardless, the big question on my mind and probably yours to is "are we ever going to have a retreat?"
Well, no retreat is a good retreat for me as it saves me from having to dealy the game for another 24 hours waiting for it. So let's try and get things back on track and ask for Fall 1902 orders to be in on Thursday, Feb 19. If you get them all in early, I will adjudicate early. I just didn't want to push you for orders with only three days to negotiate, one of them being a Sunday.
BTW, there was one set of orders with a typo. I will only point this out one time and remind you all that you need to check your orders before sending them in. I can't make even obvious changes for you.
Here is the down and dirty of it all. As always, if you spot an error, let me know.
Good luck and all my best!
Bruce
