Sorry guys, but I have not heard from Jack of the Chin yet.
I wanted to give him every chance, because of his position, but it appears as though we will have to look for a replacement.

Steve
Can I propose a Draw for the remaining players (not including JacK) at this point?
I am tired of the delays in this game, and even though I am not attributing blame - this game has not had much continuity for me. and a NEW player at this stage is something I am looking forward to.
I propose a draw for :-
Barbarians, Yellow, Green, Purple with RED survivial (as of this WINTER)
If the other 4 are in favour, we could end this game and then a new one would be started with possible better flow and results?
what do you think Steve?

Got to admit, I never really got into the flow of the game, having spent my entire time engaged on a single border with the Shu. Perhaps it's just this game being anomalous, but I think maybe the map could do with a little work.

Hey
Its been a day and a half since I got your email, and I've been hiking as that its president's day. With the pace of this game, I'm not sure it matters.
I'd be up for a draw, if yall want it. I've been locked in battle with Chu and trying to convince Chin to give me a break. A new player for Chin might help me, but he's probably just going to keep coming after me.
With the stopping and starting I never really got into a rhythm of the game, and I was getting a little worried I might not have much internet access this summer.
Best,
Lee

DC 207: Apologies for the delay (dc207) stevelytton at gmail.com Feb 23, 12:47 am |
Dear All (and Mike)
I have included the moderator of DC (Mike Sims) on this message. His email address is mike(at)southwall.com (mike(at)southwall.com)
It has now been 7 days since Steve told us that he was going to do someting about jack's replacement and I have NOT received any emailed reponse from him at all. In my personal opinion, that is extremely poor form for a GM.
I also suggested a Draw proposal for the remaining 4 players, with Jack being recorded as a survivial (*since he is about to be replaced anyway).
I would like to propose the following options, please.
1) If each player (Ross, Lee, Trout and myself) can send Mike a YES or NO proposal for the Draw I proposed. I know we all agreed openly to the draw, but people can change their minds (I hope they wont but..).
If Mike receives 4 yes votes, the game can officially end
However if someone votes NO, then the game has to continue. In that case, I would ask that DC assigns a new GM to the game as I dont think Steve can handle the GM load at the moment. In my own personal opinion, a GM has 2 basic duties - try to get the adjudications out on time and to answer player's emails. I have no confidence in Steve achieving either of these at the moment.
Mike - can we please have an official reponse from the management at DC that you will collect the votes on this to see if we can end the game.
My draw proposal was (just for the record)
Draw between Chi, Chu, Hsung- Nu and Shu.
Chin are recorded as a survivial
Both Yen and Chao have both been eliminated (game page has also not been updated)

DC-239 GM is Mostly Back - TheWhiteWolf (Feb 15, 2009, 2:32 am) |
Folks,
Well, we're back in Texas now, and we've pretty much gotten our household set up. Unfortunately, the house we're holding is way out in the country, and we can only get TV/Internet service through a satellite company (in this case, DirecTV.) They appear to be terribly slow with setup, and won't be out here to connect us until the second of March.
Our next door neighbor has been good enough to let us leech from his connection until then, but only my wife's computer is able to connect, due to his security settings. I'll try to transfer all my Dip files to her computer until our connection is up, so I should be able to continue relatively unhindered. However, I'm not going to ask my wife to give up her Dip games and the MMO she plays just to let me spend hours on game emails, so I may be a bit terse for the next couple weeks.
I will still be able to give receipt for all your orders, and send adjudications. Please just be patient with me a bit longer until I have a chance to transfer those files. We're still unpacking, after all.
Thanks for your patience,
The White Wolf

Folks,
I'm sorry to say that I won't be fully online until about 2 March. Since I live so far outside the city, the satellite technician can't come out until then. The deadline, in this light, will be 3 March. I will send out a reminder and order receipts as soon as the technician leaves my house on the 2nd.
Very very sorry once again!

Folks,
Well, we're back in Texas now, and we've pretty much gotten our household set up.

Folks,
I was wrong - I won't have even partial internet access until 2 March. I'm actually paying for access at Starbucks right now, and my battery is quickly draining. Therefore, the new deadline will be 3 March, with reminder and receipts sent out as soon as the technician leaves my house on the 2nd.
So sorry, everyone!

DC196 - Weekend Extension - former.trout (Feb 14, 2009, 1:48 pm) |
Heya folks,
We're going to take a slight delay with the Spring 12 turn and post-pone the adjudication until Monday (February 16th). One of our number was hit with an unexpected move this week, and although they thought they would be settled and back online by now I guess it hasn't quite happened yet. Hopefully by Monday things will be resolved and they will be back online.
Thanks for the patience everyone. Cheers!

DC225 Spring 1904 Delay - AlanRFarrington (Feb 14, 2009, 10:50 am) |
Hey Everyone,
There will be a bit of a delay in the adjudication. I have one NMR here. I usualy give about a 24 hour grace period but since it is a weekend I will give the offender until Monday to get the orders in. If they still don't come in I will NMR and then decide what to do from there.
Feel free to edit any orders up until adjudication time,
Thanks,
Alan Farrington

DIPYCORP PRESS RELEASES
King Of France:
As you all can see from my orders, I have acknowledged the
friendship that I have with the English and the Italians.
For the English I will continue to pound the Germans by
land as you dismantle them by sea. I would rather see a
fleet in Hol which would make me feel more secure in Bel
with my sights set on Mun.  With my Army in the middle of
the continent I'd be glad to help your moves through the
north.  For the Italians I was unable to follow through on
the move to Pie as I did not want to take the chances with
a possible German Army moving into Bur. I will continue to
work at the Germans, and with the English success in the
north I no longer see the need to move through Pie - the
unit I already have to their east should be enough to get
into Mun later than sooner. If you had other plans for it
you might let me know sooner than later.
                                 Â
                                 Â
To the Austrians:  I appreciate the offer of help to Mun -
but  I doubt I will get in with Ber undoubtedly supporting
Mun this turn. Next turn I will attempt to get in again but
with an additional supporting Army in Bur this time.  So -
if you did support me this turn, that would be the best
signal of intent and If you could support me again I think
I'll get in, or the German move to block it will seal their
fate at the hands of the English.
                                 Â
                                 Â
To the Turks: Looks like it's going like clockwork over
there, but with northern expansion to be capped by England
soon - things are going to cool off to a stalemate or heat
up to an all out war with your other neighbours. From where
I sit I'll side with your neighbours -  lest you become the
Genie who got out of the bottle.
                                 Â
                                 Â
To the Germans: Nothing personal, you are just in the way,
in the direction I intend to go.  With England on top and
the French underneath you will be the tough nut that
cracked sooner than is normally expected.
                                 Â
                                 Â
To the Russians:  Not much to say, as the light at the end
of your tunnel is probably a train.
                                 Â
                                 Â
                                 Â
Austria -> Turkey: Â I assisted you and will now support you. Â I
expect to make no advances this turn. Â The French army is
bugging me and my biggest concern.
                                 Â
                                 Â
Austria -> Russia: Â Now that you are out of Gal, I shall move
from there also. Â Let us regain the peace we once held.
                                 Â
                                 Â
Austria -> France: Â What gives? Â You move further towards my
territories? Â Do you wish EVERY nation on this map to come
after you?
                                 Â
                                 Â
Dearest Czar,
The recent trangressions of our Southern neighbor concern
me, and I expect concern you even more so.  The violent
streak shown in the Balkans is unconscienable and must be
retaliated against.  Let us put aside our differences and
focus on the real threat.  Do you need my assistance?
   Archduke Ferdinand
                                 Â
                                 Â
Turkey, Congrats for Rumania.
We now border one an other throughout the Balkan region.
Peace or War is the question.  I strive for peace myself.
I will not attack you, unless you cross the line first.
Let Peace prevail as I focus my attention to the North.

                                 Â
To the King of Prussia, His Imperial and Royal Majesty, Kaiser
Wilhelm II:
                                 Â
From the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Ireland, His Royal Highness Edward VII
                                 Â
Dear William,
Your earnest and eager entreaty does not fall on deaf ears.
We understand your plight better than you may imagine, and
it is your interest that we seize Denmark.  First, we
believe you know our opinion on the outcome of the Second
Schleswig War.  Schleswig is the extent of Your country.
Second, our control of Scandanavia ensures our ability to
buttress the Russian people against Ottoman influence,
allowing your cousin Nicholas to liberate his people and
transition toward democracy.  Third and with emphasis, we
must be clear that we see your influence most effective in
the Low Countries.  We shall be ready in the coming year to
provide what assistance you may need.  We regret that this
change in plans utterly prevents us from being of any
assistance to you.  We trust that you will understand and
embrace the new direction and our leadership in the
   rebuilding of Europe.
Your Own Uncle and Your Friend,
   Bertie
                                 Â
                                 Â
From the desk of the Right Honourable Lord of the Treasury,
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
                                 Â
Monsieur Premier,
                                 Â
I am writing to address your terms of cooperation as to the
redrawing of Europe.  In order to support our mutual goals
and diverging areas of interest, I propose this peace
agreement between your Republic and ours: a buffer area of
the English Channel and the Mid Atlantic Ocean.  I will
keep all my navies from these waters, so long as you do the
same.  I will afford you up to one year to facilitate
   compliance.
                                 Â
Yours faithfully, Arthur James Balfour

LES MISADVENTURES

By VACLAV RASKJIC
                                 Â
Prague — What as recently as October had been billed one of
the most inspired military campaigns since the
   Franco-Prussian war—the French capture of Munich—now
appears to many as a laughable series of blunders.  The
French army that captured the Bavarian capital at first
appeared primed to wholly disrupt the internal security of
the Prussian empire.  Now, many laugh off the campaign as
nothing more than a “stag party pub-crawling through
   central Europe.â€Â
                                 Â
Others have suggested the French are simply holding their map
upside down. Â There is still a minority opinion that this
expedition is in fact part of a coherent strategy. Â Perhaps the
Catholic French King expects to find allies in the Italian or
Austrian monarchs. Â The rumors suggest Vienna may be interested
in helping France recapture Bavaria as tension continues to
escalate between the houses of Hapsburg and Hohenzollern.

                                 Â
From the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Ireland, His Royal Highness Edward VII
                                 Â
Dear William,
Your earnest and eager entreaty does not fall on deaf ears.
We understand your plight better than you may imagine, and
it is your interest that we seize Denmark.  First, we
believe you know our opinion on the outcome of the Second
Schleswig War.  Schleswig is the extent of Your country.
Second, our control of Scandanavia ensures our ability to
buttress the Russian people against Ottoman influence,
allowing your cousin Nicholas to liberate his people and
transition toward democracy.  Third and with emphasis, we
must be clear that we see your influence most effective in
the Low Countries.  We shall be ready in the coming year to
provide what assistance you may need.  We regret that this
change in plans utterly prevents us from being of any
assistance to you.  We trust that you will understand and
embrace the new direction and our leadership in the
   rebuilding of Europe.
Your Own Uncle and Your Friend,
   Bertie
                                 Â
                                 Â
From the desk of the Right Honourable Lord of the Treasury,
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
                                 Â
Monsieur Premier,
                                 Â
I am writing to address your terms of cooperation as to the
redrawing of Europe.  In order to support our mutual goals
and diverging areas of interest, I propose this peace
agreement between your Republic and ours: a buffer area of
the English Channel and the Mid Atlantic Ocean.  I will
keep all my navies from these waters, so long as you do the
same.  I will afford you up to one year to facilitate
   compliance.
                                 Â
Yours faithfully, Arthur James Balfour
                                 Â
                                 Â
LES MISADVENTURES
By VACLAV RASKJIC
                                 Â
Prague — What as recently as October had been billed one of
the most inspired military campaigns since the
   Franco-Prussian war—the French capture of Munich—now
appears to many as a laughable series of blunders.  The
French army that captured the Bavarian capital at first
appeared primed to wholly disrupt the internal security of
the Prussian empire.  Now, many laugh off the campaign as
nothing more than a “stag party pub-crawling through
   central Europe.â€Â
                                 Â
Others have suggested the French are simply holding their map
upside down. Â There is still a minority opinion that this
expedition is in fact part of a coherent strategy. Â Perhaps the
Catholic French King expects to find allies in the Italian or
Austrian monarchs. Â The rumors suggest Vienna may be interested
in helping France recapture Bavaria as tension continues to
escalate between the houses of Hapsburg and Hohenzollern.

Okay, new maps are attached. Have fun, check my work. Oh, and I believe the DC house rules (which I mostly follow) state that 06 is the first year when you may propose draws or other game end scenarios for voting to occur. Not that I want the game to end.... I'm enjoying it a lot. But just so you know.

dc231 w05 builds! (and the return of the Queen) - FuzzyLogic (Feb 13, 2009, 8:14 pm) |
Special Notice: It has been a fun term, only a week I know but it seems like we’ve known each other forever… and – on the day before Valentines day! Ah – the knife – the pain! But I must leave you, and hand the game back to – yes – the Grand Poobah of GMs, the crème de la crème, the ever impressive, the often imitated (but never duplicated), the frothy topping on a double chocolate raspberry mochacino, Christine! [for best effect, reread in the presence of neon chase lights]
Spring 06 will be due Monday Feb 16, at 8 am Central US / 1400 GMT. Note this is substantially earlier than my deadlines, so this is a short turn. Don’t be late, A) it’s not polite, and B) you’ll miss out. And you don’t want to do that. (where did we hear that before?)
Send spring 06 orders to: dawench2(at)yahoo.com (dawench2(at)yahoo.com), and orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com (orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com).

DC223 - Spring 1905 adjudication - bielf11 (Feb 13, 2009, 8:02 pm) |
Spring 1905: England recaptures Liverpool from the Russians with the help of France. Question remains whether Russia really believed France's request for support was genuine. The Russians manage to keep the Germans out of Sweden which causes the English attack on Denmark to fail. Further south the Russians seem to make evasive maneuvers around Italy and Turkey. Or is it trying to support the Germans in their defense of the southern border?
The Turks move all units south-west displaying a strong confidence that the Russians will keep their hands off their motherland. Support given to a Russian Serbia - Albania move is wasted as the Russians have moved north into Budapest. Italy uses the majority of its units to ensure a swift victory in Triest only to find that the Russians have already left the place to go to Tyrolia. Meanwhile the Italians also sneak an army behind German lines and take Berlin. So perhaps Germany considers itself lucky that it ordered its fleet from Helgoland to Kiel. The German and the French still battle over Ruhr: will this continue to be a stalemate until their home SCs have eroded?
One retreat required. See below.

Winter 05 arrives and with it the nation of France slips into the history books. Thanks again to Mr. Hoffman for fighting to the bitter end in this one - valiant as always. =)
Please let me know if you spot any errors with this adjudication. Until we hear that Rachael has got things locked and sorted in her new home, it would probably be wise to keep sending orders to me. As soon as our fearless GM is back I'll hand things back over to her capable hands though.
Which brings us to the Spring 06 deadline. Please have orders in to me by Monday, February 16th (11:59 PM GMT).

Heya folks,
Okay - here is the dilemma going into the Winter turn...
One of our number
is involved in a forced and unexpected move across country.
While they were
going to try to be in email contact, they let me know that
it was a chance
that this wouldn't be possible. Obviously this is the
case seeing as how I
don't have orders for Winter.
So I realize we've already delayed a couple days but
I'd like to ask all of
your guys' patience while we give just a little more
time for our travelling
warrior to get settled. With everyone's forgiveness,
I'll reset the Winter
deadline to Monday, Feb 16th (11:59 PM GMT).
Thanks for understanding everyone. Hope you all have a
great weekend!
Trout
