DC 211: S1905 Retreats - AceRimmer (Jan 05, 2009, 5:40 pm) |
Terrible collision on the Autobahn! Two armies wiped out in Kiel! English and Russians claim violations of right-of-way -- "They should've stopped at the stop sign!"
Anyway... there's no need to update the map. Both units retreat to Kiel and are therefore disbanded. Seismics are due at 1300 CST Wednesday.

Greetings all, and congratulations on an eventful turn. Thank you for my patience, as I was on childcare responsibilities this morning.

Hail the White Lion of Andor!
Across Randland in three seperate battles the forces of Good Queen Morgase have Sacked Far Madding, and sent the borderlanders realing out of both Baerlon and Tar Valon.
The Borderlanders fend off and attack by the Trolloc Hordes and push the Aiel back out of Cairhien.
Elsewhere, the Seafolk successfully hold off the Seanchan's first attack, despite misordered support from the Westlands.
The Westlands take the long neutral Emonds Field, and the Whitecloaks sit in a circle and...
The Aiel will retreat to Jengai Pass (only option) and the Southlands Army in Far Madding has only Haddon Mirk as bolt hole.
I have ordered that retreat, let me know if your prefer OTB.
And so we will make the Fall, 1001 deadline for Thursday, Jan 8th.

dc122 AAWF Game End! - offdisc (Jan 04, 2009, 10:33 pm) |
Hi All,
I'd like to thank Michael for GMing this game and cannot wait for the
next one to start! FOW is an interesting twist to Diplomacy, and I've
enjoyed each game so far.
This game had so many twists and turns, broken alliances, broken
promises -- you needed a scorecard to figure out the teams. I doubt
anyone ended the game with anyone they hadn't been attacking earlier
on.
I started the game fairly slowly, and Rolf and I bumped heads
immediately in the South. I fully admit that I should have been wiped
out early, but for the grace of Chris. I felt very bad about stabbing
him later, but Jorge offered me a deal I couldn't pass up.
Once established, I moved on Rolf and tried to make a strong line
against Isaac. Isaac, to his credit, saw what was happening, and
offered me a nice deal. I waited WAY too long before moving against
Jorge, and it cost me the agreement. By the time I moved against
Jorge, he offered Isaac a better deal than I could give (and
truthfully I hadn't made the best impression on Isaac), and thus began
the endgame from Hell.
I know that Rolf understands it was nothing personal about trying to
cut him out of a survivor status. I just didn't feel that a 1-center
player deserved to be included when everyone else had over 10 centers.
Personally, I agree with Mike's reasons for his decision... and I
would say the same thing regardless of whether I was in mine or Rolf's
position. I can definitely say I would never have been in Jorge's or
Isaac's position because that is not the way I believe the game should
be played. You play to win, or when that is impossible or you feel
amazing loyalty, you play to and end that is reachable. The 2-way
draw that Isaac and Jorge were working towards would have taken
several months to achieve, *IF* I didn't simply condense my units to a
stalemate position in the North or South. Not sure one was totally
possible, but it was going to take a long time to find out. In the
meantime, Rolf continued to exist for no reason other than Jorge's
promise, and would have eventually been eliminated to achieve the
2-way. That is what I was calling "silly". You can be mad at someone
for breaking an alliance, but seriously, give some credit when it may
be due.
But that's another story and I'm not going further into that.... I'll
write this endgame off as a quirk of a weird game and hope to play
alongside each and every one of you in a future game!
Mike

DC191 - Study In Baltic - Fall 1912 - New Years Re... - former.trout (Jan 04, 2009, 12:09 pm) |
Heya folks,
Just wanted to thank all four of you for the patience during the past few days. Our stray orders came in and Fall 1912 action buzzed into being. Poland continues to hold the answers to Malmo - frustrating the Swedish attack there yet again. However, the taking of Kattegat by the blue fleets might make a definite difference in 1913.
There was only a single retreat required, but the Polish fleet from Kat had only Copenhagen to fall back to. I took the liberty - but if OTB is preferred, Lee, please just let me know.
No adjustments are called for and we'll groove along handily into Spring 1913. Deadline will be set for Friday, January 9th (11:59 PM GMT). This is only five days or so, so I'll humbly suggest sending in preliminary orders.
Thanks everyone. Battle on!
