DC135 Fear & Loathing - Fall 1911 - Time Is Ti... - former.trout   (Jul 17, 2008, 1:26 am)
Heya folks,

Austria hangs in there, holding onto those two centers with a death grip. Meanwhile, France makes overtures to England and the blue forces tell the French 'Good Day to you!'

No retreats are required after the Fall moves - but there are some adjustments. England and Turkey owe builds, France owes a removal. Deadline for Winter 1911 will be set for Saturday, July 19th (11:59 PM GMT).

As always, just let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers!

DC141 Seven Sinners - Spring 1911 - Goliath - former.trout   (Jul 15, 2008, 10:19 pm)
Heya folks,

The DIAS proposal fails and we battle onwards. There isn't much movement seen on the board, but there's definitely enough to keep things interesting. France continues to battle with Turkey over the Italian peninsula while England kicks the door open and bruises back into St. Petes.

No retreats are needed so we cruise right on into Fall 1911. We'll set the deadline for Tuesday, July 22nd (11:59 PM GMT).

Lemme know if you spot any errors. Cheers!

DC172 Midsummer Night's Stab - Fall 1604 - The Mer... - former.trout   (Jul 04, 2008, 12:51 am)
Why, then the world's mine oyster,
Which I with sword will open

--------------------

Thanks for the patience everyone, as I attempted to gather orders from all players. Unfortunately, word never did come in from Jerry. Happily though, the fearsome Deathblade Penguin (Steve) has volunteered to venture forward and send in some moves in the good Sergeant Todd's stead. This enables us to keep the game moving for the moment until Jerry makes contact again.

And its definitely a turn worth waiting for - some very tumultuous times hit the board with the Fall of 1604. Sweden gets scrunched - but still manages to fend off the worst of it while keeping good humour. Meanwhile, France takes advantage of a rare lapse on the part of the Habsburgs and sneakily takes Venice. (With no order for the army in Illyria submitted, the Austrian sailors stand to but find nothing there to transport...)

Two retreats are required before we move on to Winter adjustments. Deadline for the Early Winter 1604 retreats will be set for Saturday, July 5th (11:59 PM GMT). Also, please note that due to a player absence we will have a slight delay in the game between July 8th and July 25th. The summer doldrums will give us time to brush up on our Shakespeare. =)

Cheers everyone. See you on the Autumn stage..

DC181 Fall 1901 update - douglasefresh at googl...   (Jul 03, 2008, 3:04 pm)
Dear Players,

I won't tell you which player pointed it out to me, but DipCorps House rules clearly state that a NMR (NRR) involving a dislodged unit means that the unit is auto-disbanded - so tough luck for ecommander, who has yet to get in touch (hope all is ok E - please let me know if you are up for continuing...)

Thus the French Fleet in MAO is sunk, which should at least please the British Very Happy

I shall post Autumn 01 maps on the site and via email imminently.

ADDITIONAL!

When I took this game on as GM, it was with the knowledge of the powers-that-be that I would be absent after the 12th July. I'm getting married Smile and I was assured that another GM would be assigned to the game.

Given that one of our players will also be absent from tomorrow (for 2 weeks?!!!) and - although he said he would provide conditional orders for the coming turn/s - given we have not quite reached Winter 1901 satisfactorily, I shall be consulting with the new GM (once assigned) before I hand out deadlines for any further turns.

This game still has a great deal to play and I thank you one and all for your continued participation.

Kind regards
D

What an interesting battlefield Europe has become in 1906:a look at the map shows a NW - SE corridor of war with a rather peaceful NE and SW. All these close-combat situations and strategically clever moves have caused several countries to change Powers quite unexpectedly. And half of the remaining Powers have retreats this Autumn: Russia, Germany, and England. And has Italy just been backstabbed by Russia or is it only an inconvenient misunderstanding? Italy, having already used his grace, NMRs, and as a result loses Bud
and Tun to invading forces. In other news we have our first
eliminations, as England and Austria bow out of the game. Thanks to Joe
and Mike for their participation. And lastly I'd like everyone to take
an extra second to appreciate the battle of wits that went on over Edi
this turn, in which France gained the upper hand.

There were only two retreats: Italy had only one option, Bud - Tri, so
that has been done automatically, and Austria is eliminated so his unit
has been cleared from the board.

Thus we move directly to Winter 1904, which is due this coming Monday,
June 30, at 9 pm eastern. Adjustments due are listed below the

DC183 Fall 1904 moves - psychosis1973   (Jun 26, 2008, 1:37 am)
Sorry for the delay in getting this out...I got far too involved in the football game on the TV last night (Germany v Turkey for anyone that's interested) and clean forgot about the adjudication...

Anyway, Fall 1904 sees the squeeze continuing to be put on England and Turkey...despite England's best efforts, he can't get back either Belguim or Denmark, and loses the North Sea to boot. He holds on to Kiel though, which finally sees Germany off the map...

Out east, Turkey loses Constantinople to Italian invaders and drops to two units.

I'm gonna go for retreats and builds at the same time, and set a deadline of Monday 30th at 2000 GMT. I need one build each off France, Italy and Russia, and a retreat and (if the retreated unit doesn't retreat off the board) a disband from England. Should I get confirmed retreats and builds/disbands prior to the deadline, I'll adjudicate early...

DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Summer 2011 - It'... - FuzzyLogic   (Jun 25, 2008, 9:41 am)
If we’re calling draws, I’ll also propose a joint Quebec-NY win. Come on you know you want to vote for it…
I vote yes to both proposals and let fate decide which one passes.

Alright, well lets propose then a Florida/Mexico/BC draw to be voted on this fall season. I'd be happy if we could have a binding public vote and get it done, but I know thats not the way its done 'round hereSmile

Also might be nice to call an end to it before we've a long vacation break.

I'll agree to what ever ends this game prior to July 6th... I go on vacation on the 7th and don't want this game to bog down any more time than it has already...

Ray... lets end it... nothing looks good for either of us and unless one of these guys is hungry for a solo, then there is no reason to play on...

Andrew wanna steal NSC before the game ends though... give me that last, extremely miniscule satisfaction over Sims!!

Both will end the game with a survival once everyone agrees on a Florida/Mexico/BC draw? And we all sing Kumbaya?

Despite the falling-back nature of the turn, our fortune cookie for this round is surprisingly upbeat: You will receive a fortune. (cookie)

Of course, it could just have been written by a bloke with an all-too-literal sense of humour. =P

In any event, Manitoba , San Francisco and the Mid Atlantic are the fall-back positions for BC and California . Which means we move forwards into the Fall of 2011. Deadline will be set for Saturday, June 28th (11:59 PM GMT). After this, we will try to squeeze the winter adjustments in - but please note that one of our company will be on vacation from July 2nd to July 16th. The Spring 2012 turn will most likely be scheduled for a couple days after the middle of the month.

Cheers folks,

DC181 - Spring 1901 adjudicated - douglasefresh at googl...   (Jun 24, 2008, 1:27 pm)
Dear Players,

Spring 01 adjudicated - and I am happy to see that it looks unlike any other Spring 1901 map I've enjoyed yet (during my brief foray into the dangerous world of Diplomacy!).

The Seas become increasingly congested and conflict is rife, as national borders are traversed and invaded - It's enough to perplex even the most stoic leader of Europe's seven Great Powers!

The orders submitted for Spring '01 - and the results - were as follows:

SPRING 1901

Despite the fierce fighting; there are no retreats pending, (although the bold Turkish Fleet on Bulgaria's South Coast, which helped to prevent Italian incursion into the Aegean, can count itself beleaguered at best Wink and so the following mail shall contain both Spring movement as well as Summer maps. In case it doesn't reach you, the maps will, of course, be posted shortly on the DipCorps site.

Orders for FALL 1901 are therefore due to me in one week hence - no later than Tuesday 1st July, at 3pm BST. PLEASE get your prelims to me NOW! Very Happy

Many thanks for your continued participation. This looks like it is developing into a very interesting melee Very Happy
